Bling Box April 2018 Review

One thing that I really love about Bling Box is their beautiful packaging. The gold butterfly is found on almost every piece of packaging and it makes opening your box such a lavish experience. It all starts with this little gold seal on the outside of your envelope.

Inside of the envelope was a letter from the jewelry designer and founder, Natasha Grasso. She explains that this piece is hand cast from an ancient Roman coin that she collected during her travels. She also explained how the pearl is a symbol of wisdom and the moonstone represents peace and harmony. I really like how she gives meaning to her jewelry making it feel much more personal. She also signs the letter in gold - just one of the many little touches that add the wow factor to this box’s presentation.

Also inside the envelope was a card that described the jewelry and gave its value, which this month, is valued at $195. They also include a style card each month with tips on how to style your jewelry for work, evening or casual wear. This necklace is pretty versatile and I can see it working for any of these, although I think probably on the more casual end for evening wear.

Opening up your Bling Box is quite an experience. First, the tissue paper has this tiny gold butterfly sticker on it while the lid of the box has a quote from the jewelry designer in beautiful script. Underneath the tissue paper, the box is perfectly centered between little shreds of gray paper and this month we even got a nice gray bow to finish it off. The jewelry box itself is gray with another gold butterfly on top to continue the theme. I love how much care they put into their packaging! All of the little details really make it feel so special.

Inside of the box was a little jewelry bag and this card that provides Use & Care information for your jewelry - both complete with little gold butterflies. Including this Use & Care card is just another little detail I appreciate from Bling Box. They recommend saving the bag to store your jewelry in to protect it from scratching and oxidation.

Thea Coin Opera Necklace in 14K Gold over Solid Bronze with Freshwater Pearl and Faceted Gray Moonstone - Listed Value $195

This necklace comes with a 36-inch chain which I felt was a nice change from last month’s shorter necklace. I really like the chain on this necklace, which isn’t something I’d usually comment on or care about, but the way they are designed to link together is pretty unique and makes the chain itself feel like it could be a focal point. The larger size of the links makes it feel like more of a casual piece that I can wear with everyday clothes.

I’m not super crazy about the coin in the middle, but it’s not huge and the fact that it’s cast from an ancient Roman coin makes it more interesting. I really like the pearl and the moonstone and think they add a bit of flair to this piece. I like that the detailed pieces on the necklace are small which again contribute to the more casual feel. With the chain hanging to just below my bust, I think this necklace could easily be paired with others if you did want a more layered look.

Verdict: This was only the second ever Bling Box and while I wasn’t as blown away by the jewelry this month as I was last month, they still delivered the same thoughtful (and beautiful) presentation as before. The sturdy chain with the delicate pearl and moonstone made it feel like a quality piece.

The listed value of this piece is $195 and while that could include a bit of inflation, I still think that it was a decent value for the $71.68 ($59.99 + $6 shipping + $5.69 tax) box. The necklace did feel handcrafted and it is exclusive to and designed specifically for Bling Box which really adds to the value for me.

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
