Bling Bag is a jewelry subscription from India. Each month you’ll receive jewelry customized to your personal style (you fill out a quiz at sign-up). There are several subscription packages available with different quantities of items.

Bling Bag provided this box at no cost for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This is a review of the regular Bling Bag, which contains four pieces of jewelry.

Bling Bag May 2018 “Travel Mania” Review

This was my second month reviewing this subscription so I had an idea of what to expect. For reference, I chose to receive necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. I am assuming all earrings are pierced because I did not specify. I am metal sensitive but if I coat the posts with clear nail polish, I can comfortably wear most earrings:

There was an information card talking about the monthly theme. All packages may be different so you also get individual cards with the items you receive (see below).

There was also a contest entry. I think they must do this every month.

Travel Wallet

Travel Wallet

I could find last month’s bag in the Bling Bag shop, but I didn’t see this one. This has spaces for quite a few cards, some cash, and a clear window for ID. The zipper works well and this seems pretty well-made, overall. It does not have a chemical smell as some mass-produced items of this type tend to do. This actually comes at a good time for me as my current wallet is wearing out and now I don’t have to buy a new one.

Delicate Duo Bracelets

Delicate Duo Bracelets – Retail Value $8.81 (599 rupees)

I like the mixed metal look that is going on with these. The eye one fits my wrist pretty well, with a little room to spare but not too much, and as you can see, the star one has a couple of places for you to hook the clasp so you can choose the length. (My wrists are 5.25 inches in circumference. There is a chance that someone with a larger wrist may need to purchase an extender but extenders are available on Amazon for pretty cheap.) I did have to have some help putting these on my own wrist.

Greece Tassel Earrings

Greece Tassel Earrings – Retail Value $13.23 (899 rupees)

You might think these would be heavy, but they’re actually not too bad, weight-wise (and that is coming from someone who wears plain titanium studs most of the time). The tassel/fringe is delicate box chain and the stones lining the bottom/sides of the central stone are actually a pale green color. I think the movement in these is really fun and I like how they stand out against my black hair.

Arabia Designer Studs

Arabia Designer Studs – Retail Value $8.81 (599 rupees)

These are the first stud earrings I have received from this subscription. All the stones were securely in place. As you can see, each individual earring is asymmetrical, but no matter which ear you put a given earring in, they will look symmetrical on your head, since they are mirror images of each other. These have a gold-tone finish, which is fine by me (I will wear any metal finish). I do not remember if you can specify a preferred metal finish in the profile but I personally like getting a variety.

Fiji Statement Necklace

Fiji Statement Necklace – Retail Value $14.70 (999 rupees)

This is probably my favorite item of the month, even though it’s a little outside my comfort zone. I’ve provided a picture of the clasp, which is actually an adjustable slider (you have to use a little force to adjust the length, but it means the necklace will stay secure once you’ve made the change). I am starting to embrace the tassel trend and even using some tassels when I make jewelry. This tassel was in excellent condition and again, all the stones were securely in place.

I feel like this one calls for a rather plain top, something I don’t have in my wardrobe, but I do have a Kohl’s gift card burning a hole in my pocket, so I am shortly going to go online shopping for tops to match this necklace! (In the meantime, I am wearing it with the tunic from the Spring Rebel Babe Box.) Sorry about my frizzy hair and the weird look on my face but it is summer in Georgia so it is humid, and I was basically facing directly into the sun, so I did my best.

Verdict: This subscription costs about $29.99 at the current exchange rate, including shipping. For that cost, you get four pieces of jewelry plus the wallet, which I think is a pretty good deal. The total value works out to around $45.55, minus the wallet for which I couldn’t find a value, which is indeed more than the subscription price. I can easily believe that the wallet makes brings this to the “double the subscription price” that Bling Bag promises. (What you receive might be different based on your answers to the quiz.)  I did feel that everything was of better quality than expected considering the price (this is definitely fashion jewelry, as opposed to fine jewelry). Furthermore, everything was packaged securely and no stones were missing.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? They are still offering May boxes on their website as of the time I am writing this review, but your items may vary depending on your choices in the profile quiz.

Value Breakdown: This box cost me $22.05 USD a month + $7.94 USD shipping, which means that each of the 5 items in the box (counting the bracelets as a set) has an average cost of $6.
