Switch Designer Jewelry Rental Subscription Review + Coupon – April 2018
Switch is a jewelry rental service that lets you try out designer jewelry without the commitment. You pick your favorite pieces and try them out for as long as you want with a monthly fee. This is a review of the 3 pieces at a time plan.
Switch also offers the option to purchase jewelry pieces at a discounted member price. For every month that you’re a member, you get a $10 credit that you can use towards the purchase of a piece of jewelry at the special member price.
The order is contained in a sturdy black box, perfect for safe storage of these borrowed pieces.
Switch will always use USPS First Class mail to send your jewelry unless it weighs more than 1 pound. Each package comes with a prepaid USPS return label so you can leave your return for your mail carrier or drop it off at the post office if you’re the nervous type. Shipping is free both ways, and they just ask that you package it just as you received it to return to them. It’s important to save the mailer and packaging for your return.

Switch Subscription Box April 2018 Review
The order is topped with a bunch of different info cards. The first explains how you should take care of your jewelry.
The next card provides instructions on what to do when you’re ready to switch.
The sent with love card explains that prior to receiving the jewelry, each piece has been cleaned and sanitized, had its authenticity guaranteed, as well as some other info about the subscription. Minor wear and tear is covered as well!
The final two inserts explain how you can refer a friend (for each friend you refer you get an additional $10 towards your membership) and how to purchase pieces if you fall in love with them.
When you activate your subscription, you get to select the pieces that you want to receive from their available inventory.
Chanel Dark Purple and Cream Resin CC Bangle – Retail Value $395.00, Member Price $295.00
This dark purple resin bangle has a gold tone CC logo ingrained with cream toned resin edges. The inner circumference is 7”, and it is from the Chanel Pre-Fall 2001 Collection.
I loved the colors in this bangle, but it was a bit too big for my wrist. I’d fear it falling off and kind of felt like a kid playing dress up – so I won’t be styling it to wear out of my house. It’s pretty – but in the future, I’ll pay more attention to the listed inner circumference of bangles.
Chanel Ivory Resin Camelia Ring – Size 6.5 – Retail Value $350.00, Member Price $245
Lately, I’ve been really into rings and couldn’t pass up trying this little Chanel number. This ring fits my ring finger perfectly and is lightweight considering the size. You can see in the image of it on it’s substantial, with the flower being about the size of a quarter. It also sits up high on my hand.
I styled this piece this weekend with a white tee-shirt and jeans and thought this added a simple elegance to a weekend outfit. I prefer to dress this piece down, and will wear it casual versus with work attire. Also, given the height of it I think it’s fun to wear around town, but awkward to do certain tasks (like buckling your kid in and out of car seats!)
Gucci Green Ostrich Leather Bracelet – Retail Value $500.00, Member Price $350.00
This Gucci bracelet was my favorite piece borrowed this month – it was made of green, textured, ostrich leather with gold-tone metal. With a smaller inner circumference (6.3”) it fit my wrist like a glove. It also opens, instead of being a slide-on bangle, giving it a better fit in my opinion. I love buckles, and this shade of green compliments my skin tone and is easy to wear. The color is super versatile, and I can’t wait to wear it regularly all month!
The Verdict: I took over this subscription from Anna (you can read her previous reviews here) and this was my first month. I do not own any Gucci or Chanel jewelry so I thought this was the perfect place to try out those brands. I had fun picking the jewelry, and now that I know a bit more about what to expect and what to look for, I can make educated decisions going forward. For instance, Chanel bangles are probably a bit too big for me – but bring on that Gucci!
Honestly, I wish I would have known about the subscription earlier. I’ve raved about it to my friends. How can you complain about a subscription that allows you to try high-end brands out at a low monthly fee – I thought about it this way – I tried out $1,245 of jewelry for $69 – which is about 5.5% of their retail value. That’s AMAZING (IMO).
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Pieces can get snatched up quickly, and the number of pieces they have per style varies. You may or may not see these pieces in their available inventory list – but you might just see something you like even more! This isn’t a “styled” subscription, meaning you can pick exactly what you want from the available list. It’s not selected for you based on an algorithm or your preferences.
Value Breakdown: These three pieces cost $69.00 to rent, which is a great deal if it works for your budget and needs. It’s pricier than Rocksbox (which offers mid-range designer jewelry) but less than Rent the Runway (which offers designer jewelry, accessories, and clothes, too). To rent just one piece per month is $29.00, so you’re saving about $6.00 per piece to go for the larger subscription.
The member price for all 3 of these pieces is $890.00 in total. At retail, they’d cost $1,245.00. Members also get $10.00 to put towards a piece, so that’s $880.00 to buy everything (I am not buying anything, but if I were – it would be the Gucci bracelet).
