Snack Crate March 2018 Review

This box always greets you with a colorful card, and talks you through every snack to be found in the subscription! This month’s box is Colombia, and I’m really excited to try everything.

There’s also an awesome bonus in each box: stickers! You guys - the sloth! I’m dead.

Now, it’s snack time!

Plantanitos

Plantanitos

Plantains are actually one of my favorite foods, and I liked that this box offered the purest form of one of my preferred snacks! These were nice and thin and crispy, and my favorite part was that they were just a touch salted, and not over seasoned.

Tocineta Bacon Chips

Tocineta Bacon Chips

These were one of those snacks that completely surprised me with how good it was! These were a savory corn-based snack shaped and colored like little pieces of bacon. My husband wasn’t a big fan, but I loved the savory taste of the bacon flavoring paired with the bright finish of the lime.

Jet Chocolate Bar

This was possibly the simplest snack in the box; it was just a chocolate candy bar! The information card that this was the favorite chocolate bar of the country. It was smooth and rich, and not surprisingly, not as sweet as American chocolate!

Chocoramo

Chocoramo

This was a packaged pound cake covered in milk chocolate; it reminded me a bit of my beloved American-found Zebra Cakes! The texture of the cake wasn’t as soft as I would’ve liked, but the chocolate was pretty good!

Bianchi Bar

Bianchi Bar

This must be quite the international delight because I’ve had this candy bar before in a different box! This reminds me very much of a Snickers with its caramel, peanutty interior. It’s satisfyingly chewy and the chocolate is high-quality.

Bonbon Bum

I’ll be the first to admit that hard, fruity-type candy is not really my thing, but I did like this lollipop! I gave the watermelon one to my husband, and I was all over the mango one. I was really pleasantly surprised by how realistic the flavor was; it definitely was sweet but didn’t taste fake at all.

Mani Moto

Mani Moto

The last snack of the box was very different from other peanut snacks I’ve received before. These were salt-roasted peanuts that were made crunchy by an outer shell made of flour, and they were so surprisingly! I normally would expected a crunchy-shelled treat to be sweet, but these were just slightly salty and super-delicious! These were great on their own but I also think they’d be awesome if combined in a bowl with Reese’s pieces and pretzels.

Verdict: This was an interesting Snack Crate this month! The best part is learning about the snacks of another country and trying new things. Who would’ve guessed that I would have enjoyed a mango lollipop so much? The plantain chips went straight into my desk drawer at the office, as did the Mani Moto peanuts. The bacon treats were a nice surprise, and I think my husband was psyched about seeing so much chocolate in this box!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you have to sign up by the 5th of the month to get your Snack Crate, but when you do, you can choose among three countries for your first box.

Limited Time Deal: Get your first box for $5 when you subscribe to a 6-month Original Crate subscription! No coupon needed, just link here.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $14, which means that each of the 7 kinds of snacks cost $2 (not including the bonus stickers). Having this box curated and the products sent directly from the country of origin really adds to the value.
