Spring 2018 Skybound Megabox Review
The Spring 2018 delivery features items from The Walking Dead and Oblivion - but also features two new comics, Oblivion Song and Crude.
The deliveries come with a general information card. These don't go too in-depth on each item in the box, though.
Carl Grimes Shirt - Value $20 based on shop prices
This month's exclusive shirt features Car lGrimes in all his glory. I'm a big fan of the comic-version of Carl, and less of a fan of the TV portrayal. I'll leave spoilers aside for this 😉
Anniversary Pin - Value $10 based on enamel pins in their store
Wow - it's been 15 years already? Celebrate the comic's anniversary with this commemorative pin.
Invincible Atom Eve Bloody Figure - Value $25
This is a Skybound shop exclusive figure variant - but not exclusive to the Megabox from what I can tell.
Atom has good joint articulation - it's made by McFarlane Toys so that isn't a surprise - so you can really pose this figure in many different ways.
The figure comes with multiple hand variations for posing, as well. Let your imagination run wild.
There are a few different Invincible toys to collect and complete the set.
Andrea PVC Figure 2-Pack - Value $10 based on a similar product
You'll get another item from The Walking Dead (you can expect a ton of Walking Dead merchandise from this subscription). You'll get a 2-pack of translucent mini figures featuring Andrea and a zombie.
Andrea is a major sharpshooter in the comics - kind of similar to Carol's role on the show - so I thought it was nice to see her with her trusty rifle.
You'll also get your basic zombie.
I'm not sure what the translucent blue versions are limited to, but the orange is limited to only 500 total - I'm betting the blue might be more exclusive for the Megabox?
The Walking Dead #1 Variant Cover
This is where it all started! Issue #1 with a new variant cover.
It was fun to revisit this comic after 15 years of issues. The crew, or what's left of it, has come so far!
Oblivion Song #1
The next comic is a new offering written by Robert Kirkman! While this is the first issue, they're already in the process of writing issue #13 - so these issues will be on schedule for about a year (yay!) - and the story seems awesome! Jumping into Oblivion to bring people who have been lost for decades back home. They promise that it's going to have a massive scope, so this comic has to be one to watch.
Crude #1
The final item in the box is Crude #1 - a bit of a revenge story that follows Piotr Petrovich. This feels like a familiar story, but I'm sure it's going in different directions.
Verdict: While this is a higher price box, the value is there - but mainly just for Walking Dead readers. I'm still patiently waiting for some exclusive Saga items - hopefully, they're coming soon with issues coming back recently!
