My Japan Box Hello Kitty March 2018 Review
My Japan Box normally has a standard box they use for all of their different subscriptions, but it looks like they may have run out because this month came in a plain white box. They also don’t send any info cards, so I’ll do my best to try and find the items online if possible.
Hello Kitty Plush
This subscription usually includes a new plush each time. This one is on the smaller side at under 5″ tall when she’s sitting, but is made of a super soft material. She’s wearing baby blue overalls, a yellow shirt, and is sporting her classic pink bow. Even her little white tail is poking out on the back. Super cute!
Hello Kitty Insulated Lunch/Tote Bag
I received a lunch bag last month too, but this one has a removable insert so you can use it as a tote, or perhaps to wash the insulated part more easily if it gets messy (though I’m not sure if this is machine safe). The outside is made of a soft cotton that feels much like a sweatshirt. It’s cream with a red and black pattern featuring HK popping out from behind a big red bow with some phrases like “look at my ribbon” and “relax…” scattered about. In the center of the front, it says “Hello Kitty” with “Say hello to me when you see me!”. Ok, girl! I will! The top is 12″ long (with the zippered insert being slightly shorter) and the base is a little over 5″ deep. As I mentioned, the insert is removable and is made from a red nylon on the outside with a gold zipper and a silver plastic insulation on the inside to keep your food hot or cold. It can be used as two bags in one! If you don’t need a lunch bag- you can use as a toiletry/makeup bag and a small tote.
Hello Kitty Mug
Next, there’s a ceramic mug for all the cozy warm drinks like coffee, tea, or hot cocoa. This motif features a classic HK look with her in blue overalls and red bow atop her head on one side, with her peeking out of a grocery bag on the other. Apples, milk jugs, jam, and tableware are scattered about and the handle says “HELLO KITTY” on it with s little jar of jam. It comes with a nice box as well if you end up regifting to a pal.
Hello Kitty Brush in Pink
This brush is pretty wild! It’s hard plastic with flexible plastic bristles, is hot pink, 7″ long, and has Hello Kitty wearing a pink leopard print dress and bow! The handle says “Hello Kitty” in yellow and has a pink heart-shaped gem on it as well. This is a bit too out there for me to use, but anyone who likes more fun in their grooming products will be delighted.
Hello Kitty Claw Hair Clip
The last item is also for hair in the form of a black claw hair clip. I used to wear small versions of this all the time when I had longer hair, but sadly I think this one is just too big for me at a little over 3″ wide. I have such thin hair that this would fall right out. One side is blank and the other has a very fancy Hello Kitty wearing a pink dress and pearls with a polka dot bow and sporting long lashes! She’s on a white doily background and it says “Hello Kitty” in pink script.
Verdict: My Japan Box Hello Kitty only included five items this month which normally doesn’t phase me since less is sometimes more, but at almost $50.00 for this box, I’d expect higher quality goods. Each item would have to be worth $10.00 to just break even and I don’t think that’s true for any of these except maybe the lunch bag. I’m also kinda bummed that they sent the said lunch bag right after sending one last month (though it is different). Thought I couldn’t find any of the items online to price, that does *maybe* prove that these are harder to find items that are only sold in Japan. I think this subscription is really only for the die-hard Hello Kitty fans.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No- since boxes are mailed at the beginning of the month, it looks like you have to sign up by the end of each month to receive the following month’s box as your first.
Value Breakdown: At $49.00 for this box, you’re paying approximately $9.40 per item.
