Gwynnie Bee April 2018 Review
This review is of the 3 items at a time subscription from 3/21 through 4/20.
JOHNNY WAS - Grey Sleeveless Embroidered Annika Swing Dress
This dress is super cute, and the embroidery is simply amazing! It's a very soft, lightweight cotton knit dress. It felt so comfortable to wear. I just wish I had received it in the late spring or summer, it has such a summery feel to it!
KAKTUS - Stitch Detail Floral Print Long Sleeve Top
This poly blend top has a lot going on! I really love the colors and print, and I like the crochet detail on the seams and across the arms. It feels really well made, too. Having said that, it just was a massive tent (as shown in the second picture)! I couldn't believe how much material was involved! It was certainly comfortable, but I felt a little swallowed by it.
CITY CHIC - Butterfly Bliss Top
I really enjoyed wearing this layered chiffon top, and I felt like it was perfect for the season! Here come the butterflies! It has an attached tank underneath, and it felt both comfortable and well made.
JOHNNY WAS - Stars Popover Tunic
Pretty much every piece from Johnny Was is going to have amazing embroidery work, and this tunic is no different! Unfortunately, I feel like the other thing JWLA pieces have in common is that they may look kind of frumpy, as does this tunic. Of course, they are also expensive to purchase! I think the color is also drabber in real life than it looked on the model. I wound up not wearing this tunic out, I just didn't much care for it.
KATHERINE BARCLAY - Navy Hooded Cardigan
This hooded, heavy cotton jacket is so sharp and cute! It was a little heavy for the season, but I wore it anyway. It was super comfortable. This is not my usual style, but I felt great in it! That's one of the nice things about Gwynnie Bee, you can try new styles without being married to them!
NY COLLECTION - Tie Sleeve Detail Black Floral Print Fit and Flare Dress
This was my favorite piece this entire month, which is saying a lot since I got so many nice pieces! This poly blend dress was just so flattering on me, and it was another piece that was perfect for spring! It also has a bit of stretch so it was comfortable and easy to wear. I love the tie sleeves!
VINTAGE AMERICA BLUES - Mariana Embroidered Peasant Blouse
This viscose blouse was probably my favorite top this month. I loved the colors of the embroidery, and the embroidery itself was lovely and well done. It was otherwise just really cute and comfortable, and felt super springy!
ESHAKTI - Graphic Floral Print Shirtdress
This was my first time ever trying a dress from eShakti, and I was really excited about it! I am so glad Gwynnie Bee has started carrying this label! This particular dress was a bit of a mixed bag for me. It fit like a dream and was super well-made. It's a crepe material and lined button-front shirtdress. Once I got it, I didn't love the print, and I tend to avoid chest pockets as a general rule. Having said that, I can't wait to try more pieces from this label!
DEX - Lace Trim Elbow Sleeve Top
This knit top was fairly comfortable but is not a generally great cut for my figure. I like the crochet detail on the shoulders a lot, and I feel like this new trend of short bell sleeves is really fun and flirty! I just wish this fit a little better.
The Verdict: I love Gwynnie Bee! I think I am getting better at picking pieces that will work well for me because it seems like I am being disappointed less and less often. I got a total of nine styles this month, which is an amazing overall value at. Plus, I loved so many of the pieces this month and only a couple that didn't work out. That's fantastic! I like trying new things all the time, and Gwynnie Bee gives me loads of new options! It's so fun!
