Elevita April 2018 Review

elevita april 2018 bag

Once again, everything arrived in this lovely cotton drawstring bag! Such a nice bonus!

This is the letter I received in my package this month, detailing the contents. I especially appreciate the detail it provides about the artisans who created this month's handicrafts. It gives it such a special, personal touch!

Capiz Shell Bowl, Philippines

Capiz Shell Bowl, Philippines

Look at how beautiful this bowl is! It's so big, too! I love it! Capiz is the shell of the windowpane oyster, but they do not grow nearly this big, so I don't know how they craft beautiful pieces like this. This was made by a cooperative of capiz artisans in the Philippines.

Purse, Cambodia

Purse, Cambodia

This cotton purse is really nice and very well made! It's also very pretty, and I love that it has so many compartments! It was made by a group in Cambodia that come from impoverished families or families afflicted with AIDS/HIV. That's very sad, but I am glad that they are able to make a living with their craft.

Woven Pouch

This month's third item is "a unique item from either the Philippines or Cambodia." So, I'm guessing that this item varies from subscriber to subscriber. It's a woven, stiff little pouch, almost like it is made out of wicker or something. Very cute! I just wish I knew a bit more about it.

The Verdict: Elevita is awesome! I really appreciate everything they do to help global artisans, and I love feeling like I'm a part of that. This month's items were all great, but I absolutely love the capiz bowl! I can't often find values for the items Elevita sends, but I always feel like the value far outstrips the cost of the box. $30 for these lovely items is a steal!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the May box. Order by the 18th to get the current month's box.

Value Breakdown: This box cost me $30 with free shipping, which means that each of the 3 items in the box has an average cost of $10.

I like the bag with the zippers! I hope proceeds truly do go to the people who make the products, I sometimes distrust the fad of making something sound ethically sourced but it’s still just a profit buzzword. I might have to try this box though thanks for the review.

I think it does go to them. This organization is run by volunteers. And I got a beautiful big tote bag in this box.

I love the bowl too! It’s very beautiful. I’ve been waiting for this review because I’m looking forward to hearing what other people received for their unique item. Mine was a thin, lovely brown bangle with white accents. Wish I could post a picture. Oh well. I hope every subscriber enjoys what they received.

Wow, this looks like a nice artisan good box! That bowl is gorgeous! My only concern would be two pouches in one month – I wish the third item had been different, like an accessory or vase. And I want to know about it as well.

I’ll be watching this box, though, it looks good!
