Cat Lady Box April 2018 Review

Cat Lady Box is always full of fun, cat-themed lifestyle items. Let’s see what was in store for April:

I love how the information cards have custom artwork every month. And the back has more information about the items in the box.

Cat Tie-Dye Duffel Bag

Cat Tie-Dye Duffel Bag – Listed Value $34.99

This is the “hero” item for the month. It feels pretty sturdy/substantial and seems well-made. There’s no chemical smell (I bring this up because sometimes bags, backpacks, and similar printed products do have an unpleasant odor when fresh from the package) and the zipper works nicely. The print is super bright, which I love. This was really too big for my photo background (and you can see a size comparison with a cat at the bottom of the review). This could work as a gym bag or maybe an overnight bag during warm times of year when your clothes aren’t too bulky.

Cat Peace Sign Catnip Toy

Cat Peace Sign Catnip Toy – Listed Value $4.99

I get the “crazy” cat lady version of the box so there are always a few toys. This is the month’s first toy. It is a soft, small catnip plush, which is my cats’ favorite type of toy (they are suitable for tossing). No one was really in the mood to play when I took pictures but this has moved around the bedroom floor since then. (Most of my cats are seniors and spend most of the day sleeping.)

Groovy Guitar Catnip Toy – Listed Value $4.99

Here is the second toy for the month. The fabric on this has a little bit of a different texture and my cats particularly liked the guitar strings at the end. This is also nice and small.

“Live Love Meow” Car Magnet

“Live Love Meow” Car Magnet – Listed Value $5.99

I like how this matches this month’s shirt (see below). I have put it on my car next to several other cat-related magnets. People always think it’s funny when someone like me with a bunch of cat magnets gets out of the car with a Rottweiler, but as far as Nyx is concerned, she thinks she is one of the cats.

“Live Love Meow” Tank – Listed Value $19.99

You’ll usually get a piece of apparel with Cat Lady Box. This month, it’s a tank. (You’ll get maybe one tank per year.) This is pretty loose-fitting for me (I should have a size down from S but that is not offered) but will be comfortable for casual activities or working out in the heat. The fabric tended to get wrinkly but putting it in the dryer with some damp clothes seemed to get most of the wrinkles out. (I’m really, really resistant to ironing!)

Here are this month’s kitty pictures:

Mostly the kitties were sleepy, though they did sniff and rub on the toys. I put some treats in the duffel bag and Sneaky climbed partway in to get them. (For reference, Sneaky weighs about 10 pounds. Although I’m pretty sure she would like to weigh about 15 because all she ever wants to do is eat.)

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $70.95 for the April 2018 (Crazy) Cat Lady Box. That is definitely more than I paid for the box, plus I feel like the values were pretty accurate this month. The bag really does seem (to me, anyway) like a high-quality item, and overall, there was a good variety in the box. I liked all the bright colors, too.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Orders have to be placed by the 22nd of the previous month. So if you sign up today, you'll receive the May box.

April is my birthday month and when I saw the theme spoiler I decided to sub back up (for one month) as a gift to myself. I was so disappointed! I don’t wear tanks and didn’t expect them to send one out in April; it seems more of June-Aug item. I love the bright colors used and think they could have done such a better job. I have no use for a duffle bag, even when I go to exercise I don’t use duffle bags – is that just me? The magnet seems like it should be a freebie not one of the premium items. Thankfully I had a coupon code to upgrade to get the cat toys for the same price. My cats were the only ones excited for the box. Literally, the box, because it smelled like catnip from the toys. They enjoyed playing with the toys as well. I see May is a Cat Mom box, I was close to ordering that one but after my disappointment in April, I’ll pass.

I’m a big ol’ bag whore so I loved this box! The magnet is on the car next to the Cat Lover magnet, and my Minnie Mouse has been seen playing with the guitar toy.

I love this months box! I plan to use the bag as a gym bag (when I don’t swim as it’s not bit e enough for a towel, etc.). The tank will be perfect to work out in during the summer over a sports bra when the large-ish armholes won’t be a problem. Sure, it’s not the most flattering style – but it’s cute and I don’t care so much what I look like (or what others think of how I look) when I work out. The magnet will be perfect next to my “Sheltie Nation” sticker, too!`

I thought the little duffle, while awfully bright, is still cute, and plenty sturdy enough for an overnight bag. I just happen to need one as my daughter absconded with my last one as she does with so many of my things. The shirt is something I can sleep in during the summer months as I’m not likely to wear a tank out into public no matter how cute it is, I am “not!” Lol. My 4 cats dug the guitar and the groovy peace sign as they just like to throw toys around and chase each other with them. Are these my absolute “favorite ” items ever? Probably not, but they’re okay in a 70s acid flashback way, or an homage to Scooby Doo, and what’s the harm in that?

This is normally my favorite box every month but this month I felt was a total fail. I thought the bag was too bright and an un-useful size. The tank was a muscle shirt style, which isn’t becoming on anybody really in my opinion and the magnet was, well, just a blah throw in. And my kitty snubbed these toys as well. I try not to come on these forums and be negative (cause I hate seeing all the negative posts constantly), but I’m just so disappointed! Really hope the go back to being ameowzing next month!

I agree with you Wendy. I am not a fan of this month’s box either. I wouldn’t wear a tank top if it was 100 degrees in the shade. The bag is OK but I don’t have a use for it.
