Today, I'll be showing you how I used some of the items in my April BoxyCharm box! I'd love if you shared what products and techniques worked for you in the comments as well! What items were your favorites? Which products have you been reaching for all month? Let's talk about all things April BoxyCharm.

But first, here are the box basics:

In April's box, I received the following:

Now, let's talk products and how I used them!

First I began with a bare face.

I applied the Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner all over my face following the directions on the back of the tube. The instructions say to apply a thin layer avoiding the eye area of course. You may not be able to see but it's a white cream filled with small tiny blue beads. It said to leave it on five to ten minutes.

You guys can't see it here but when I put it on it turned a slight shade of light blue, how fun is that? The smell was quite pleasant so I left it on the full ten minutes it suggested. It tightens pretty quickly and has a slight cooling sensation that feels good to the skin. It has a microdermabrasion feel to it as well, and like many of his products, you only need a little to get the job done.

After rinsing it off with warm water & patting my skin off with my makeup towel, I immediately saw my skin was brighter and super cleansed. The main question is….Did this product work? Are my pores super cleansed and do they look smaller? The answer is YES! I did notice that my face was very clean and my pores looked surprisingly minimized! So far I'm very pleased and can't wait to see what my pores look like after a few more uses.

I jumped right into this Tonya Crooks brow product. I was actually pretty excited to see a product from this brand again. The BrowGal Instatint Tinted Eyebrow Gel in the color 02 was a bit brighter than my brows, but once I added a second layer it seemed to work out fine. It's a light mousse-like formula with special microfibers that are supposed to give a natural hair like appearance. My main struggle with brows is getting them to appear more natural, so just the sound of that has me rushing to get this product open. Enough talking, let's get this on……

Here is a picture of one brow done (two coats).

And here is both brows complete. The tiny brush applies the product better than any brow product I own. The moose formula is very light almost feels like nothing at all. Its claims are to wear ALL DAY and if that is true, then this just may be my favorite brow product so far! Let's get into our eye look:

I already knew that there would be five different amazing Eyeshadow Palettes from Colorpop and I received the Semi-Precious palette. Because this particular palette only has shimmers, I also used two matte colors that you guys can get from anywhere (dark brown & black matte) so I began my eye look with  a simple dark brown matte that looks like this.

I could hardly wait to jump into this palette gorgeous Semi-Precious palette. Although you only get 8 shades in this palette, the pans are bigger. They are highly pigmented & very creamy! This particular palette has the best of both worlds! It has your everyday neutrals and a few slight pops of color. I placed a tiny heart on the colors so you guys can get a better look and follow along with me. On top of the dark brown matte, I added the shade “West Star” to create this cocoa brown color. It may be a bit difficult to see against my skin tone but it's there lol.

Next, I took my finger and picked up this amazing cranberry shade called “Easy Go”. I used my finger because I plan on packing this color in the center of my eye and I believe the finger method is best! Lol

This is how it looks so far...

Then I took a nice fluffy brush and softened out the harsh lines, leaving a hint of that cranberry color.

Next, I thought this beautiful champagne shade called “Celestial" would be a great brow bone color. I placed it right underneath my brows making sure to blend it very well.

After adding my brow bone color, I took the matte black I told you about and added that to the outer corner of my eye look.

After adding some simple black eyeliner, I added the color “Up & Atom” into my inner corners.

Here is my entire eye look completed with mascara and my favorite go-to foundation!

Next, I added the Tarte Tartiest Pro Glow Liquid Highlighter in the color “Exposed" and for the record, I only use powder highlighters because I have very oily skin, and every liquid highlighter I have ever used only looked ashy or turned into a complete oily mess on my skin. However, I will give this my best shot!

Here is how it looked after adding it to the highs of my cheekbones, tip of my nose, and my Cupid's bow. Just as I suspected guys, liquid highlighters are not for me which is really sad because this color is simply gorgeous. It went on beautiful but turned into an oily mess on my face not even ten minutes later! I would love to know how these beautiful highlighters looked on you guys!!!!

Now let's finish this makeup look with the liquid lip I got from, Adesse Hi Definition Liquid Lipstick. It's an everyday  nude color. I could not find the name of this color on the product itself or the box, so I looked it up and I believe it called “Haute Cocoa”. I usually add a nice nude lip liner (plum from MAC cosmetics) with these light nude tones because it looks better on my skin tone, so I will close this tutorial with a before and after photo and let you guys decide.

I am addicted to subscription boxes for so many reasons. For one I simply love the element of surprise that each month brings, whether its beauty, skin care or anything else. I love the opportunity of trying out new products every month without having to commit to the full purchase. My favorite boxes are Boxycharm, Popsugar, and any Mommy and baby boxes. I am a brand new mother and I love trying out new things for my baby and I love how they always have something special for mommy!

You’re so gorgeous and artiulate with great attention to detail! More, please! 😊
You could add the Tarte product to a body spray (just make sure the applicator can handle the shimmer), gift or trade with another! I hope to see/hear many more reviews and tutorials from ya gorgeous! 💕💋🌹

Dezi

That’s an awesome idea about turning it into a body spray !!!

Love the look! Beautiful! I got a really dark brow and that worked okay for me but I got a really dark brown lippie. (I wish I got that one.)
Does anyone know, have you filled out your beauty profile on boxy’s site and still got a wrong match for color on the brow gel?

Reply ButtonReply

Dezi

I was wondering the same because I even went to the site and updated mines just to be sure.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

Yeah, it doesn’t matter what you say in the profile, the box isn’t personalized. I heard that might be changing in the near future though!

Melody

You look gorgeous, lady! 👠💄💋👗👒💍

Dezi

Awe thanks Melody!

Wow you lol so beautiful! I loved this tutorial. Do you set your highlighter with a powder? I use a banana powder and I’m thinking it might be worth a try for you? Let me know if this works.

Reply ButtonReply

Dezi

You know what I have yet to try that or even a different Primer ( maybe a Matt Primer) you guys are full of great ideas. Keep them coming lol

Misti

I got the same exact Boxy and I love your eye colors I never can figure how to use so many Thanks.
You look Gorgeous before and off the chart after with the whole look. the Tart looks really good from Pic too bad it makes your skin oily I am switching to liquid it works much better for dry skin

Reply ButtonReply

deziqueen

Yes! I’m super disappointed that it looks so bad after ten minutes because I love the color!

xocarrixo

I had the same thought about the smell of the face mask. Both me and my friend got the april box and both of our masks smelled terrible. We did the mask anyway though lol It does work, just stinks

Thank you so much for the tutorial! I got the semiprecious palette too and I’m in love with “easy go” but I’ve been terrified to use it because it looks so bright. After seeing how beautifully it blended on you I think I’ll give it a shot. You look amazing!

Reply ButtonReply

Thank you and don’t let colors scare you, if you can’t wear a certain color alone you can always mix it with another. I’ve learned that starting with a transition color does amazing things for my eye makeup. I’m still learning as well but it’s super fun to challenge myself.

RoguesEn3D

I agree, don’t fear color! People who don’t normally wear a lot of color can also place a small pop of color in their usual eye makeup routine. It’s amazing what a little color can do to a look.

BTW, Dezi, the cranberry color looks fantastic on you. It doesn’t hurt that you have beautiful eyes already. As for the lip color, I thought it looked really nice, even being a light nude, but seeing it with your lip liner did give it a nice dimension.

I have oily skin too. I have combination skin (I can get really oily in my T-zone) AND I use oil to nourish and moisturize my skin. I don’t use pre-made moisturizers, creams, etc.. I apply the oil after my morning shower but I don’t do my makeup right away. I start with my hair, or have breakfast first. I let the oil absorb into my skin for 20-30 minutes, then I blot my entire face, then I put my makeup on. Since I started that routine my makeup lasts significantly longer… as in hours longer. I don’t know if that would help you but I thought I’d mention it. Maybe you and the liquid highlighter could become best buds.

Trixxy

First wow ,! all positive comments that’s awesome!

You look gorgeous, I got a different palette (element of surprise) but it has a few similar shade so I may have to “borrow” this look 😆 it was my first time with a color pop palette as well and I can see me buying more at such a great price point for the quality.

I got a deeper lip color from the same brand. It seems more like a gloss than a liquid lipstick or maybe I put too much on?

Boxy nailed it this month! Imho

I agree this month was pretty good!

Felicia

Thank you for posting how you use the products. You are absolutely stunning and it is nice to see how others use the products. Boxy is my absolute favorite box since I am addicted to make-up. I love Colourpop eyeshadows. I own way too many to count but like you, started with their lipsticks years ago and as they continued to expand their line I continued to buy it. I now have everything. Concealer, brows, powders, highlighters, eyeliners and bronzers. You should check out the rest of their line, it’s super cheap and really good.

Reply ButtonReply

deziqueen

Wow I didn’t know they had all that, how well does their concealer work for you?

Lori

Beautiful! Wish the pictures were in better focus, though. Feedback for next time 🙂

I know and I’m super frustrated with this issue. I was blessed enough to get a new iPad that takes awesome clear pics but they come out “too large ” to use so I resorted back to my cell phone until I can figure this out. So sorry

YESS! I love this tutorial ❤️👏🏽 You look amazing, I wish each box had tutorials like this 👍🏽 Half of the time I’m questioning what to do with or how to make the most of a particular product 😄

Reply ButtonReply

deziqueen

Yes ………….I totally agree, sometimes I will see a product used on YouTube and it never comes out that way when I use it LOL

Bobbie

Those colors look beautiful on you!

Thank you Bobbie!

Hmm wonder now if my Dr Brandt was bad because the smell was so horrific I immediately took it off and threw it away. It literally burned the hair in my nose it was so awful.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle K

Mine smelled terrible, too – like a sharp, petroleum type smell 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

deziqueen

Really? Wow ……. Sorry you weren’t able to get benefit from it cause it works pretty good. I don’t blame you, if something smelled that bad I wouldn’t be able to use it either.

Reply ButtonReply

Jessica

Great tutorial! You look beautiful in all the products.

Tip about liquid highlighter from a fellow oily-skinned gal: I apply my foundation and face makeup, apply a mattifying setting spray, and then apply liquid highlight on top. The highlighter seems to last longer that way. And it’s more visible than if you applied it first and then set it with powder (which tones it down and sort of defeats the point).

Reply ButtonReply

deziqueen

Thanks Jessica, and I really appreciate the tips. I’m definitely going to give your method a try, because like I said the color was stunning! I just hates how it looks on my skin.

Reply ButtonReply

miranda

I do the same I will also apply a similar powder highlight on top and it wont move. I loved your eyelook so beautiful.

Beautiful! I was also eager to try the brow product, but mine came in light, so I swapped it with a lovely swapper for her Tarte highlighter. The creamy highlighter didn’t work the best for me, either. I still think my favorite is Mary-Lou manizer from The Balm.

Mary-Lou manizer? Never heard of this, I’m gonna look it up.
