Amazon Third Trimester Maternity Box April 2018

This box features four top-rated products and exclusive offers designed for parents to be valued at $40 or more. Let’s check it out:

The box contained three info cards detailing the aspects of various programs Amazon offers to new and expecting parents.

The first card explains the perks of the Amazon Baby Registry.

The second card describes the benefits you can receive through the Amazon family.

The third card identifies brands that Maternity Box purchasers can find exclusive offers from and provides the link to where to find them. The offers available ranged from 15-25% off. Please note: these offers are not available until seven days after purchasing the box.

Kindred Bravely Washable Organic Nursing Pads (8 pack)-

Kindred Bravely Washable Organic Nursing Pads (8 pack) - Retail Value $12.93

This bag contained 4 pairs of nursing pads that have three layers of protection. The top layer is a soft, organic bamboo which is comfortable to wear on your skin. There is microfiber in the middle and a layer of PUL to keep your bra dry. These are just the right thickness and the contoured shape of the liner ensures a good fit. My milk came in very quickly and heavy and I found them to be very absorbent. Plus the softness was gentle enough for my very sore skin after lots of nursing. I was impressed with the quality and comfort!

These nursing pads come in their own carrying bag which is also a wet bag to store used pads in. As someone who uses reusable pads regularly when nursing, I LOVE this! The bag is super cute and it has a little snap strap so that I can easily attach it to the diaper bag for on the go. I usually wear disposable pads when I go out, but now that I have a wet bag to put the dirty ones in, it makes it easier to take these with me since I have somewhere to put them! They also included care and wearing instructions which is great if you’ve never used them before.

In case you have never used reusable breast pads before: some of the benefits I’ve found are that there is less waste in your trash (the milk does actually spoil & smell on disposable pads), they are often softer and once you get your supply under control and don’t need as much protection you don’t go through as many so it’s a little more cost effective! One con though is that they don’t have the sticky part on the back so they can slip around inside your bra, but sometimes even the disposables do that on me!

Pure Sanctum Love Bomb Luxury Bath Fizzies (4 count)- Retail Value $34.99 (found here for $16.97)

The packaging for this 4 pack of bath bombs is so cute! Each bomb is 6 oz and they come in 4 different scents: Fatal Attraction, Drama Queen, Strawberry Fields and Diva Delight which are detailed on the lid of the box. I decided to test out Strawberry Fields which has scents of strawberry, grapefruit, and bergamot. The bomb dissolved a lot quicker than I expected and other than giving the bath a light scent it wasn’t noticeable in the water other than leaving my skin feeling very soft.

There was an insert which included a note from the founder with some offers you can redeem if you join their club. The back of the card detailed some contest information and also listed the ingredients for the bombs which is great for those who might have sensitivities or are just curious about what they’re bathing in! Such a cute little package of luxurious bath bombs- this would make a great gift for anyone needing some relaxation time. The retail value of this seems quite a bit inflated to me though.

Earth Mama Angel Baby New Mama Bottom Spray (4 oz)-

Earth Mama Angel Baby New Mama Bottom Spray (4 oz)- Retail Value $12.99 (found here for $10.49)

The name of this spray has recently changed to Earth Mama Herbal Perineal Spray for Pregnancy and Postpartum. I think the name gives a pretty clear description of what this can be used for. As someone who is familiar with the aches and pains of the body preparing for labor, I was eager to try this. It smells like cucumber and peppermint to me and it definitely felt very cooling and refreshing. Plus the way the bottle is, it can be inverted and still spray, which makes it easy to use.

The ingredients in this are all natural and organic. From their website: “No parabens, butane, propellants, artificial preservatives or artificial fragrance. ‘Cause who wants any of that down there?” My thoughts exactly! Post-partum, I was fine with using the heavy-duty aerosol spray that they give at the hospital, but while pregnant, it was nice to have a safer alternative. While it was refreshing, it didn’t provide the numbing pain relief that the other sprays do so this is probably going to be great for later recovery when I don’t need as much care down there.

Earth Mama Angel Baby Natural Nipple Butter (2 oz)- Retail Value $12.99 (found here for $12.99 with free shipping)

The name of this has recently changed to Earth Mama Organic Nipple Butter. This is a lanolin-free nipple butter used to help heal dry and sore nipples after breastfeeding. It is safe for you to use in between feedings and doesn’t need to be wiped off beforehand. This can also be used on dry skin anywhere for both mama and baby. I didn’t really know that not everyone feels comfortable with using lanolin (which comes from sheep and may contain pesticide residue) and I did use it with my first two children. I am happy to have found an alternative though, now that I know.

The texture of this was a little grainy, which I tried to show, but it smoothed out nicely and the scent was mostly cocoa butter. It was a little greasy after applying and I actually think my son nurses a bit less when I have this on since it does have a pretty strong cocoa butter scent. It’s also a little lighter in texture than other butters I’ve tried so it didn’t feel quite as protective during feedings.

The Verdict: Overall, I felt the Amazon Third Trimester Maternity Box provided a good mix of products to support a mother post-partum but I only felt that some items could be used during the third trimester as well. (The perineal spray and the nursing pads might really only be useful post-partum for some, for example, I don’t usually leak while pregnant). The nursing pads and nipple butter are specific to mothers who are breastfeeding, (although you could find other uses for the nipple butter) so this particular box definitely won’t be for everyone. Just something to keep in mind if you are considering purchasing this as a gift! Since I am able to use every item in this box, the value in it is there for me.

The box normally costs $29.99 and I estimate the total retail value to be $73.90 (although I really feel like the bath bomb cost was inflated but even using the sale price, it would still keep the value around $55.88), which  is good for the original price and also in line with their promised value of $40 or more. This also does not take into account the special offers that you will be able to access on Amazon once it has been 7 days.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all three trimesters are available!

Value Breakdown: At $29.99 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Nursing Pads: $5.25
  • Bath Bombs: $14.20
  • Perineal Spray: $5.27
  • Nipple Butter: $5.27

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
