Wigglebutt Box March 2018 Box closed

Wigglebutt Box is a subscription box for dogs. Items are chosen based on your dog’s size (choose “small” at under 20 pounds, “medium” for dogs 20-50 pounds, and “large” for dogs over 50 pounds). You can also specify how tough your dog is with his or her toys (“gentle/1,” “average/2,” or “ruff!/3”). For those of you who read my dog box reviews, you’ll know Nyx is in the “ruff!” category.

Wigglebutt Box March 2018 Review

Wigglebutt Box always has a variety of items and item types, so even if one item doesn’t work for your dog, there should be plenty of items that do:

There was an information card detailing the items in the box. I thought this was odd artwork for a March box (seems more suited to fall), but whatever.

There was also a card asking you to share on social media.

Jolly Pets Flathead Alligator

Jolly Pets Flathead Alligator – Retail Value $11.99

I think we have received toys from this product line before and, as I recall, they were big hits. This was no exception. It is stuffing free and made from a tough nylon fabric that Nyx hasn’t been able to rip (yet). The body part stretches (see some photos below). Nyx had a lot of fun with this.

Wigglebutt Box Seasonal Kerchief

Wigglebutt Box Seasonal Kerchief – Listed Value $6

These are always size-appropriate for Nyx and this one stood out particularly nicely against her black fur. (These are just triangles, not full squares, and they are made from a fabric that doesn’t wrinkle easily.)

Jones 7” Beef Rib Bone – Retail Value $2.19 (found here for $1.99)

Exactly what it says on the tin (so to speak). This has only one ingredient (beef from the USA) and no preservatives. This is size-appropriate for a large breed dog, though I’d highly recommend supervising your dog with this as some reviews at the linked site indicated this can fragment.

Dog Waste Bags (1 roll) – Listed Value $0.50 (Buy 900 Bags for $13.99)

I first discovered these through Wigglebutt Box and now I buy a case of them every few months. They are inexpensive but easy enough to open (even with Nyx pulling on the leash) and they don’t rip or tear.

Wigglebutt Box Luggage Wrap – Listed Value $12

Wigglebutt Box always includes a small “parent” gift and this month it is this wrap that goes around the handle of a suitcase. I know the last time I traveled, everyone had identical black luggage, so this could be a great way to make your bag stand out from a crowd. (The initial on here was selected based on subscriber’s last name, it’s not just random.) This has a hook and loop closure and provides a comfortable grip, too!

Rachael Ray Pawsta Beef Stuffed Riggies (4.5 oz) – Retail Value $3.49 (found here for $2.96)

I’m going to be honest, I can’t stand Rachael Ray because she doesn’t use complete words, so the name of this product made me cringe. Looking beyond that, these treats should be pretty good for dogs without any allergies. It’s made from US farm-raised beef and is free of wheat, corn, and soy. It’s free of artificial flavors, too. There is some grain (rice, barley, rye) but thankfully, no chicken. I have seen this product line at Target if you want to buy some without placing an online order.

Kettlecreek Beef Beastie Bar – Buy 20 Bars for $30.90

The information card says “turkey” but we received beef. It is possible there was some variation with this item, or a last minute substitution. At any rate, this is a good “on-the-go” sort of treat since it is individually wrapped (and presumably easy to break since mine arrived in several pieces, which I could feel inside the wrapper). Do inspect these carefully before giving to your dog, as the Amazon reviews (can be found at the link in the product name) say that these treats may be prone to growing mold (this bar was not old or expired, for what it’s worth). Also, don’t give the whole bar to your dog at once, but just little pieces until you see how he or she will react.

Multipet Nuts for Knots Rope with Tennis Ball

Multipet Nuts for Knots Rope with Tennis Ball – Listed Value $8.50

I could only find these on eBay and closeout sites, so I’ve used the value from the information card. (I don’t care so much if a dog toy is a closeout as long as it is safe.) This is on the small side but the tennis ball means Nyx can’t fit the whole thing in her mouth, so I’m letting her play with it, with supervision. Nyx does love tennis balls as well as ropes, and so far this is of about average durability (probably better for a non-heavy-chewer).

Nyx models the scarf.

Angus was watching us the whole time. (That’s a small part of my bead collection you see in the background…)

And here are some shots of Nyx with the alligator toy. She had a lot of fun with it.

Verdict: I didn’t calculate a total value for this month’s Wigglebutt Box because some items couldn’t be found online or were only purchasable in bulk. However, there were 7 items (not counting the dog waste bags since the value of one roll of those is pretty low), which works out to about $5 per item. I think that’s pretty good, especially since the alligator toy sells for more than twice that. Nyx had a wonderful time with the alligator toy and she even tolerated the kerchief, and there were several other useful items in the box as well.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will get the April box. From Wigglebutt Box:
