  1. I had the box in my cart today at 11:55 am and was going to finish checking out but I decided against it. FOMO made it hard to stop clicking, but when I saw the cost was $34.99 US funds plus 13% Ontario tax (I live in Ontario) then $7 shipping = $46 US dollars I stopped myself. That would be at least $60 Canadian dollars for the box. 🙁 We have put so much money into kitchen renovations lately and I get other boxes so I decided to let common sense prevail.
I will keep stalking the box and maybe I will consider trying to get the June one. They have great reviews and the person running the box seems to have amazing customer service and wonderful communication. I hope they can keep it up. 🙂

  2. I just signed up for this box today, so I am new to this whole process. Can the boxes be personalized in any way (like by complexion, etc.)? I was hoping there might be a survey or something during the check out process to give my preferences, but I didn’t see anything. (I am really hoping I don’t get that bright purple lipstick!)

    • They’ve only sent a customized item once before and they send out an email to pick your skin tone . I’m also worried about this spoiler and how many shades there are, too many chances of getting a terrible shade that may not work for your skin tone: Would hate to get the bright pink, purple or brown lip color :/ Also if you just now signed up you are probably get the latex lippie that was added for this last restock. That is what they did last time (they added an extra item for the newer subscribers)

      • Thank you so much for the additional information — I really appreciate it. I debated for months about signing up for a beauty subscription box. I have Sephora flash 2-day shipping, so I’ve found that it’s a better deal for me to buy a full-size or value set of items I actually want and then select 3 free samples rather than to risk a monthly subscription for items I potentially have no use for.

I finally decided to pull the trigger and get Tribe after seeing the quality of their products and good reviews on customer service. We’ll see how this goes, but hopefully ultra bright lipstick is rare for Tribe. Ipsy is already providing that sort of thing in their boxes for a lower price as far as I can tell.

        • imho….beauty boxes are just plain fun…enjoy…!

          • and, yes, I am addicted.

          • I can see how the addiction happens. My cursor has hovered over the “purchase” button on the major beauty boxes MANY times. Then some annoying “Be responsible with your money!” voice pipes in and I close the browser window. But it didn’t win out today. Hopefully Tribe will be worthwhile! I am for sure interested in trying the Marc Jacobs spray.

          • Dana, I’m an hour from my nearest Sephora, too. The $10 flash two day shipping is the best money I have ever spent. Makes it so easy…and I love the samples. Tribe beauty is def on my radar right now. Maybe one more spoiler??

          • I would like to have waited for one more spoiler, particularly since I’m not at all interested in the red latex lip stuff. But since Friday was the last restock for April boxes, I figured it was either join or wait until June. Plus, they caught me at a week moment — a 15-hour work day where my brain thought “Why not? You’ve already earned the money for the box today….”

        • I’m a Play! subscriber and I totally agree with you Dana. I canceled my subscription with Sephora and subscribed to Tribe yesterday.

          • I’m super happy with the Flash 2-day shipping option since it only costs $10 per year. I live a full hour from the nearest Sephora store, but when I used to live 15 minutes from a store, I would not have considered it worthwhile.

I always keep a $10-15 item in my Sephora shopping cart (that I actually want) so it’s easy for me to go in and check to see which free samples are available once a week or so. When they have some I want to try, I go ahead and make the purchase. I don’t always get the samples I asked for, and if the warehouse runs out of samples sometimes I don’t get any, but customer service always adds beauty insider points to my bank if I call in and let them know.

Tarte and Marc Jacobs have several deluxe sample value sets for $10-$25 on the Sephora site. (I would go into the Value Set section of the shopping menu and sort by price, low to high, to see my options.)

Until I joined Tribe, this was my alternative to signing up for a subscription box. I think I can justify keeping Tribe if I can use 3 of the items in the box and either sell or swap the others. Has anyone here tried to sell or swap through this site or the Tribe Facebook group? I would be interested to hear your experience.
