The Mr. Collection Clothing Rental Box Review + Coupon – February 2018
The Mr. Collection is an unlimited clothing rental subscription. Your stylist puts a pack together based on your style profile and you keep it for as long as you like (1 day, 2 months, any length of time). When you are done wearing those pieces you send them back in the included pre-paid envelope and another pack will be put together and sent to you. You have an unlimited number of packs per month and you have the option of buying any of the pieces you love.
Mr. Collection has a Mr. Play (everyday/casual), Mr. Business (business casual/formal), and Mr. Combo (combo of both plans). They also have The Ms. Collection for women.
This is the review for The Mr. Collection Mr. Play plan, which is $49 per month (plus free shipping).
Each pack will include 3-4 pieces of quality, designer, casual clothing for your everyday look. When you sign up, you answer questions about your style (size, colors, patterns, clothing type, etc.). An actual stylist puts your pack together so, even though your pieces are a surprise, they should work for you. You can leave feedback for your stylist to help make your next pack even better.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Mr. Collection Mr. Play February 2018 Review
If you have read my reviews of Ms. Collection, you know I was excited to get my husband, John, styled too! Let’s see what he got in his pack:
The included info card includes some instructions for the pack, a handwritten note from John’s stylist, and the retail value and member price.
First up is an outfit with two of the pieces:
United By Blue – Button Up, Size L – Retail Value $78, Member Price $70.20
This shirt is just John’s style. The medium gray, organic cotton twill fabric is dotted with tiny white specks which gives it some depth without looking like a pattern. I like it but it seems a bit too short to tuck in if he ever needed to. But, who am I kidding, he doesn’t tuck in his casual shirts.
John says: “I kinda like the shortness. The fabric and pattern are nice.”
7 Diamonds – Black Pants, Size 34/30 – Retail Value $78, Member Price $58.50
I really like these pants on John and appreciate seeing him wearing something other than jeans. They fit his hip and thigh area well and are the perfect length, two things he struggles with when trying to find pants. The flat front and solid color make them perfect for dressing up or down too.
John likes the lining inside (way more important than you’d think) and thinks they are comfortable.
Alternative Apparel – Gray Henley, Size L – Retail Value $40, Member Price $32
So, this one is not a hit. John doesn’t like wide necks like this and he isn’t used to ¾ length sleeves. Otherwise, it is really soft and a great layering piece.
John says: “It’s a little too fitted and the fabric is too thin for me.”
7 Diamonds – Button Up, Size L – Retail Value $83, Member Price $66.40
John has just recently embraced the short sleeve button up look and, when done right, it looks really good on him. This fabric feels so nice. It’s light and it has a little give. The pattern is great because it is understated. I like it paired with the black pants from earlier too! This shirt is only slightly longer than the other but looks more natural.
John says: “I really like the pattern on this one and the contrast on the collar. It has nice buttons.”
Here we’re in some of our outfits from this month’s Mr. Collection and Ms. Collection packs (my Ms. Collection review coming soon!).
Each pack includes a pre-paid return envelope. When you are done with your pieces, just pop them in here and drop it off at the post office. Mr. Collection will process your return and get a new pack out to you within a few days. (If you are purchasing anything, just leave them out of your return package.)
A note about cleaning: You don’t have to clean the pieces before sending them back. Mr. Collection has everything cleaned once the pieces are returned. I didn’t notice any smell (including fragranced detergent which is good for those with sensitive skin), stains, or signs of wear. Actually, everything was in great condition!
The Verdict: This was a great pack for John! Most of the pieces were his style, plus they all fit. John’s favorite item was the red button up shirt because he liked the pattern and how it fit. One big draw for him is that he gets to wear clothing that is high quality but that is out of our normal price range. If he planned well, he could return/receive several packs a month and essentially have a never-ending new closet. Just this pack alone was worth $279, and for a cost of $49 with free shipping, I think it is a great deal.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? The Mr. Collection picks clothing for you based on your style preferences so your pack will be different than mine. Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: The value of your packs will depend on how many you decide to get during the month. But, if we say John just got this one pack this month for the $49 styling fee, here is how much each item would cost to rent:
- Unity by Blue Top – $13.70
- 7 Diamond Pants – $13.70
- Alternative Apparel Henley – $7.03
- 7 Diamonds Top – $14.58
