Tea Box Express March 2018 Review

You can usually expect one tea (sometimes more), one accessory, and one edible item (sometimes more) in this box. Occasionally there will be other tea-themed items as well:

Tea Box Express March 2018 Tongs

G + H Tea Services Waterloo Sugar Tongs – Estimated Value $5.99

I could only find this exact item on sale on eBay, which can always vary in terms of accurate retail value, so I listed an estimated value based on what I did see online and quality. These are specifically labeled as sugar tongs and work great with the sugar in this month’s box, or would work with sugar cubes, or would even work just to remove a stringless/tagless tea bag from your mug without sticking your fingers in.

The Spice and Tea Exchange Amber Rock Sugar, 1.5 oz – Retail Value $1.99

I do not normally add sugar to my tea, though I’ve encountered a few really tart teas lately that have me second-guessing that in a few instances. I tried this in some Crio-Bru instead, which is really bitter and needs a little sweetener. It dissolved easily and worked nicely to take off the bitter edge of the beverage.

Tea Box Express March 2018 Chocolate

Ticket Chocolate Lemon Lavender Chocolate Bark, 3 oz – Retail Value $6

This is a new brand for me and one I think I’m going to have to explore a little bit more before it gets too hot for me to think about ordering meltable candy. This was delicious. I thought the lemon and lavender flavors worked well together. The base is dark chocolate but there’s also white chocolate that moderates the dark chocolate bitterness.

Earl Grey Lotion Bar by Beauteastudio, 2 oz – Retail Value $15

I showed a lot of pictures of this item because I thought the packaging was lovely. I have a hard time getting lotion bars to work on my body (I am cold all the time), but lately, I have been really into solid-type moisturizers for my cuticles and around my nails, and this seems to work in that context as well. (Please note this contains beeswax so it is not vegan.) This smells nice and citrusy.

Green Earl Grey Tea from Beauteastudio, 1.5 oz – Retail Value $6.50

This is a light green tea with bergamot and the bergamot is really fragrant. My husband poured the water over this while I was in the basement doing yoga (how I start most weekdays after cat medication and feeding) and when I came back up, the whole kitchen smelled lovely. I brought the rest of this to work, where I am sure it will disappear in no time.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $35.48 for this month’s Tea Box Express. That is about four dollars over the cost of the box plus shipping. Most of the brands and makers this month were new to me, and I doubt there’s any way I would’ve discovered them otherwise. There was a strong citrus/Earl Grey theme this month.   didn’t previously think I liked Earl Grey, but I think I had just had bad Earl Grey, because I’ve tried a few artisanal, non-mass-produced brands lately (including the one from this box) and it is definitely growing on me.

I haven’t tried anything except the chocolate but once I did, I couldn’t put it down. I’m not a dark chocolate eater either so that shows how they were able to infuse all of the flavors together to make it super yummy!

I split all the subscription box food with my husband or I probably would’ve done the same.
