Sock It To Me Women's February 2018 Review

open Sock It To Me box

When you first open your Sock It To Me box, you'll notice a big ol' "SURPRISE!" on the inside of the lid, almost like you just walked into your own surprise party. Two pairs of shiny new socks are also revealed.

Box reuse ideas at bottom of box

Once you take them out, you'll see they've urged you to recycle the box and have given you a bunch of (questionable) ideas on how to do so.

Sock It To Me Magnet featuring a pig with balloons

I also received a cute little magnet that has a piggie being lifted into the sky with a bunch of colorful balloons.

Sock It To Me info card

Next, the info card. It states their promise to you, each month: to make you smile with their kooky socks!

Since it's February, the other side has a Valentine cutout of a cute heart.

I tried to make mine do a little dance, for your enjoyment.

Women's Unicorn Fair Isle Crew Socks - Estimated Value $11.00

The socks that come with the subscription are exclusive and aren't sold on their site, or anywhere else. They're sometimes a sock that will eventually become available, but not until later, so they're essentially a "sneak peek". Based on other crew socks though, I was able to estimate these to have a value of $11.00. The first of the two pairs I received are of the "crew" variety and feature what I can only describe as a whimsical design of pastel unicorns, rainbows, and stars. They're a blend of 52% cotton, 46% polyester, and 2% spandex, so they are breathable and fit my size 6 feet snuggly but with plenty of room to stretch for larger feet. Although not terribly thick, they are comfy and have a pretty detailed design. These are super bright and fun and come about halfway up my shin.

Women's Horse Head Nebula Knee Socks - Estimated Retail Value $12.00

Like the first pair, I estimated the $12.00 value based on other women's knee socks, but these are nowhere to be found on their site. As promised, these fantastical horse head nebula socks go all the way up to my knees, and have a left and right, meaning that it's not just the same sock duplicated in the pair. The horse head appears on the outside side of the sock on each one. I really like the colors used: the black, fuchsia, blue, purple, white, and turquoise all look great together and make a lovely space scene. This pair has a slightly different composition as the crew socks and is made of 54% polyester, 43% cotton, and 3% spandex. I think that extra spandex was definitely needed to get the sock around my ample calf. 😉

Verdict: My first Sock It To Me delivery was fun and full of horses. I like that the pairs they send are exclusive, so it makes the box a little more special than just buying what you want from their shop. At $22.00 with free shipping for two pairs of socks, this subscription is a bit higher than others but came with a lil magnet. It looks like I saved $1.00 compared to if I would have bought a pair of each (although they currently are having a 15% off sale) but I would have had to pay $4.50 shipping, so I'm still coming out ahead here.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? The socks are a total surprise - so you might not get the same items as you see here.

Value Breakdown: At $22.00, you're paying $11.00 per pair of socks.

Thank you for the giggle with the bonus (and absolutely adorable) dancing entertainment in your review! It was very much appreciated.

I have a question about this sock subscription and any other sock subscriptions. This is for Marne and anyone else that could PLEASE, PLEASE answer. I need some fun socks as I recover from a terrible accident involving a dislocated ankle, compound fractures, etc. I need socks that aren’t tight, especially at the top. Of all the FUN socks, which one is the most comfortable that would be best for someone with circulation problems or swelling or injury recovery? Sorry, in advance, for TMI, but felt it was needed to explain why I really need the more forgiving top border and general fit, while not giving up the giggle factor.

Hmmm- I asked around and we agree that none of them offer particularly loose fitting options (although there are some no-show options that don’t go above the ankle at all). If only there was a legwarmer subscription!!
Hope you heal quickly!

Thank you for asking around. The intarsia patterns are usually tighter for some reason. If there’s ever an island discovered that they name Intarsia, I’ll never visit it, because I refuse to wear tight clothes. 😀

Cristina

I love both of these sock designs!
