L.A. Girl Pro Prep HD Smoothing Face Primer, 0.50 oz. - Retail Value $7.00 (currently out of stock)

Primers are probably one of my favorite products to apply. They are so silky soft and this one is no different. It isn't tinted so it works for all skin tones and spreads flawlessly over your skin to smooth and prep your face for makeup. It fills in any fine lines and pores so your foundation looks seamless, plus it's enriched with vitamin E and paraben and it is fragrance-free.

The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $42.00

Oh, hello dream palette! Aside from the punny packaging (which feels a bit corny to me personally), the nine colors here are seemingly perfect for a wide range of skin tones. I love that it runs the gamut from soft pinks to nudes to bold tones, and I will wear ALL of them at different times. I've been using this often to elevate my makeup and make my eyes POP and I think it's made a big impact, so I thank The Balm and Cult Crushes for that! It comes with a mirror so you can use this anywhere, so long as you have a brush. Lucky for me, I have quite the arsenal thanks to MorpheMe.

Palladio Liquid Liner in Black - Retail Value $6.99

I am a liquid eyeliner gal through and through. I normally reserve eyeliner for a nighttime look and only put it on my top lids. I was stoked to try this one out even though I love the one I currently use. I was sadly a little disappointed in this one since it seemed a little too "pointy". It wasn't as soft as I wanted it to be, though perhaps I needed to break it in more. Liquid liners can be sorta hit or miss and this one was, unfortunately, a miss for me.

House of Lashes Temptress False Lashes, 1 pair - Retail Value $9.00

In the six months since I've been subbing to Cult Crushes, I think this is the third time I've received false lashes. They're certainly a good dollar value to have in a box, but as someone who never really wears them, I'm past my limit. That's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. I suppose if you are an avid falsie wearer, these will differ from others and it probably excites some of the subscribers! They also happen to be handmade with 100% real human hair.

RickyCare Classic 3D Blender in package back of RickyCare Classic 3D Blender package RickyCare Classic 3D Blender

RickyCare Classic 3D Blender in Blue - Retail Value $10.00

Would you believe that I don't own a beauty blender? I have the Makeup Bullet which I got from Cult Crushes back in October and LOVE, but not a classic pointed egg shape like this one. I immediately noticed that this latex-free blender is a lot firmer than my Makeup Bullet (which is really soft), but like the eyeliner, I may just need to break it in. That being said, I'm happy to see this beauty must-have in the box this month.

Verdict: Cult Crushes is awesome this month, for the number one reason of the Balm eyeshadow palette! With it's $42.00 retail value, that item alone blows the overall value out of the water. The eyeliner and lashes are a miss for me, but the silky primer and beauty blender are both perfect! Once again, Cult Crushes secures a place in my heart. At the end of the day, I got $74.99 worth of beauty items for only $11.00!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Unfortunately no, the cutoff date is the 25th. April is already sold out, but sign up here for the waiting list and info on signing up for the May box.

Value Breakdown: At $11 for this box, here's what you're paying per item:

  • Primer: $1.03
  • Eyeshadow Palette: $6.16
  • Liquid Eyeliner: $1.03
  • False Lashes: $1.32
  • Beauty Blender: $1.47

I can gladly sell or trade mine, the colors are not mine (too dark), I even did not swatch.

Def love the Balm palette & the sponge. I’ve been getting this sub since December & even with the overflow of eye lashes this is my fave sub

Can’t wait til I am off the waitlist in May worth it to drop Sephora plays box with mini samples and 1 use shampoos and hair masks I am not a fan of.

JuJu

I believe you need to thoroughly wet and squeeze the blender first, then it becomes soft and pliable. This particular one is too stiff to use dry.

Ahhh, thanks for the tip, Juju!

Wow….what a great box! I am on the waitlist for May as well. Boo! (Lol)
This looks like a great sub and I am excited to receive my first box. 😃

I so wish the waiting list wasn’t so long! As soon as I’m off I’m breaking up with Sephora (and their wimpy size samples) for this one! The value always seems incredible and the products seem to fit my style perfectly! May can’t come soon enough!

Think I am going to dump Ipsy for this one!

I love this box. Cool products and good value. Need to get this box soon.

I have to ask (at the risk of embarrassing myself)…. are fake lashes typically made with human hair? The only experience I’ve had with fake lashes is one time when they were applied at a salon for a friend’s wedding, so basically no experience. I always assumed they were synthetic, but clearly I know nothing. lol

Marne Orenich

It seems that they’re a mixed bag. Sometimes human hair, sometimes synthetic. You would just have to check out the package to know for sure. Sometimes it’s not even that clear.

Believe it or not, I wouldn’t use one product in this sub! Not being a makeup snob either…I just use different types of these products (pencil eyeliner vs liquid eyeliner) But wow what a great value! Except for those scary eyelashes.

The eyelashes are actually really gorgeous and I found a new item I love that I would never tried otherwise is the primer. The primer works really well. Was quite surprised. I’m into the flounder eyelashes right now. I cut them up in threes and wear one on the edge of my eyelashes and they flutter like Bambi eyes. I love! Anyways for 11 bucks I think this is a great deal to try new products.

When they get random YouTube “gurus” to curate, we always get repeats. This month, like last month, we got a shadow palette & false eyelashes. I wish they’d stop with the collaborations.

Reply ButtonReply

Dea

Right! Or at least tell these “gurus” (in their own minds) which items NOT to pick.

MzBev

This was my 2nd box from them. I do hope they stop with the lashes now. (I don’t use them, last month was a box full and then another set for March) I LOVED the eyeliner! I prefer the firmer brush though. I tried one of Wet N Wild’s eyeliners and their brush is too soft. It is so much easier to apply where you want it with this one and it does not smudge. I can’t wait to see what they send us for April!

Bonnie

I agree. I really like liquid liner pens, and a brush like this makes this product very similar to that. I think I might even like this better, because it will probably not dry out like pens do.

Michelle

I love this sub!! I used the primer this morning, for the first time and it is awesome. So silky going on. The palette, well I can’t rave enough. It is so pretty and the colors are very pigmented and last all day. I put the lashes and liner up for swap, don’t do lashes and don’t like the liner packaging. The sponge works as great as my real techniques so I am happy to have it.

Best $11. spent.

Right? I’ve been using the palette every day! So good.

TheBalm is one of my favorite brands. I used it back when Nordstrom used to carry it. This box looks very enticing 😉

Jody

I cancelled too soon. I don’t use eyelashes either.

I’m on the list for May. I got rid of Birchbox, Macys, and play by sephora. None of them have the value of this box! I can’t wait to get my first box.

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

Totes. I narrowed it down to Ricky’s Cult and Allure for monthlys… and then I buy my one-off boxes too when they look good. I do 2 quarterly boxes as well…. Gotta keep feeding my sub addiction! 😀

Reply ButtonReply

Margie

What quarterly boxes do you have? I’m doing fabfitfun. I have to say I was really disappointed in the spring box. But really like the editors box they just came out with. I subscribed to popsugar new quarterly. And I like the robe that is their first spoiler. I hope it’s a great first box!

Anna

I may have to follow your example, I love Ricky’s and Allure! This month was great. I like false eyelashes though, so it was a win all around for me.
