Plated Subscription Box Review + Coupon – March 2018
Plated is a weekly meal kit delivery subscription that delivers you pre-portioned ingredients and recipes to help you make chef-designed recipes at home. They offer different weekly menus and randomly pick recipes for you based on preferences you submit when you sign up. If you’d rather pick your own recipes from the weekly menu, it’s easy to hop in and change your order on their website or their handy-dandy app.
Plated is committed to using sustainably sourced seafood, seasonal produce, and meat that’s free from antibiotics and added hormones. Like most meal kits, Plated won’t include standard pantry items (think salt, pepper, olive oil). They will, however, email you to let you know what pantry items you should have on hand for that week’s box. Prep time and dietary details are listed in each recipe. And if you love a recipe, you can rate it and download a digital recipe card via your online account. (Highly rated recipes sometimes come back as “Encore” recipes for you to order again, so don’t forget to leave your star rating each week!)

Plated March 2018 Review
Plated sends each meal mostly packaged together in a plastic bag, except for meat and any larger produce that may not fit. Each individually wrapped item is marked with the meal it belongs to so you can organize them in your refrigerator upon unpacking. I really appreciate this extra step to keep things organized and easy for me when unpacking!
Tuscan Chicken with Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Crispy Potatoes

Plated recipe cards come with a short description on the front and include the estimated prep and cook time and the calories per serving. On the other side, you’ll see a list of ingredients, what you’ll need from your kitchen (ingredients as well as tools), recipe tips, and step-by-step directions with photos. The cards this month weren’t the normal glossy and bright prints that I am used to, instead, I received the cards in a black and white printout.
I started by cutting my potatoes and getting them in water to boil. They only need to bowl for about 12 minutes because they are going to go into the oven later.
I roughly chopped the sundried tomatoes and got them into my pan with olive oil to get crispy.
Then I added my can of diced tomatoes to cook down. After I did that, I just popped my cooked potatoes into the oven to get crispy.
Once my sauce was combined, I added my chicken into the pan and popped it all into the oven.
Once the chicken was done cooking about 10 to 12 minutes, I removed the chicken from my sauce. I then added the spinach and heavy whipping cream to combine.
That’s it! Once everything is done you can plate your chicken with your sauce over top, and then a side of those crispy potatoes. I found this dish to be super filling and very hearty. I wish the chicken was a bit larger or that there were more pieces because we ended up with so much more sauce than we had chicken or potatoes for dipping. The potatoes were incredible and came out with this perfect crispy coating. I am going to be cooking my potatoes like this from now on!
Soy-Glazed Chicken with Long Life Noodles, Siracha Cashews, and Pea Shoots

Here is our second recipe card, I love reading through the recipe tips that are listed on the back of each card.
I started by chopping my green onions and the perfectly green cilantro.
Next, I started boiling water for my noodles and got my chicken cooking, about 6 minutes on each side.
I seasoned my cashews with the siracha powder and got them into the oven. The recipe says that they can cook for up to 8 minutes, but to keep a close eye because they can burn very quickly.
While everything was cooking, I made my sauce. This is the soy sauce glaze with the green onions, rice wine vinegar, and sesame oil.
Once my cashews were done, my water was boiling, so I added the noodles to get cooking.
Once my noodles were cooked, I added them to my pan with the cooked chicken and covered everything in that yummy soy glaze sauce. Mix it all together so everything is coated with that sauce!
My husband plated this for me and look at how beautiful it is! This meal was so filling and tasted like it came from a restaurant. I used to eat a lot of fried noodle dishes in college from this little family-owned restaurant, and this reminded me of something I would order from them. The noodles were so thick and the soy sauce glaze was so rich! The cashews weren’t overly spicy, but they added this lovely crunch that I really enjoyed. This is a dish that I am going to be keeping to make again!
Verdict: I was really happy with the meals that I received from Plated this month! In the past, I have felt that the portions were on the smaller side, but this month’s meals were extra hearty. I do wish the Tuscan Chicken had a bit more to it, but other than that I thought it was so delicious. It is always so exciting to receive my Plated box each month, which allows me one less grocery trip that week, and makes cooking with my husband a bit more fun!
