Nosejoy March 2018 Review

Nosejoy March 2018 Morning Mood

Nosejoy March 2018 Welcome

Nosejoy March 2018 Packing List

Nosejoy March 2018 Offer

Nosejoy always includes a welcome card with a few subscriber discounts and an info slip that gives a little info about each item in your box. I love that they offer the price of each lovely-smelling product and the website for the company from which it was sourced. Nosejoy is really good about introducing subscribers to small businesses, and in some ways, I think of this box as being just as much about that effort as it is about receiving the awesome treats themselves!

This month's theme is "Morning Mood" and the products they included are meant to soothe you into a calming sleep, then welcome you into your day with awakening aromas. Let's dig in!

Nosejoy March 2018 Pillow Spray

Nosejoy March 2018 Sandalwood & Sage

Sandalwood & Sage Sleep Tight Pillow Spray, 1 oz. — Retail Value $8.50

I love the concept of setting oneself up for success for having a good, productive morning starting with a calming evening ritual. I'm big on a good night's sleep and usually have no trouble falling asleep almost immediately, but a relaxing scent is more than welcome in my "ritual"! I put that in quotes because my ritual involves, like, laying down in bed but it still feels so beautifully ceremonious, haha. This natural spray is filled with lavender, sweet orange, bergamot, frankincense, clary sage, vetiver, and ylang ylang essential oils to ease anxiety and soothe. I recently heard that ylang ylang is also an uplifting scent, which sounds like a nice attitude with which to fall asleep! The scent of this spray is subtle and lovely.

I also want to point out that this pillow spray offers a nice change in pace as far as product selection goes! Many of you have commented on recent reviews with the feedback that a sub box that ships you candle after candle is no bueno in your book, and I like to think this spray is Nosejoy's response to that feedback. I hope people appreciate that care and effort as much as I do!

Nosejoy March 2018 Dawn Candle Nosejoy March 2018 Coconut Wax Candle Nosejoy March 2018 Herland Home Candle

Herland Home DAWN Coconut Wax Candle, 4 oz. — Retail Value $11.00

Alas, there is a candle included after all. I will say, though, that as far as candles go, this one is my ideal [insert worship hands emoji here]. First off, I love that the label on the front features a cool design and no brand name. Like, that's huge for me. Second, I am so crazy about the scent! I don't think I could describe it better than the copywriter for Herland Home did, so I'll include their blurb here:

"Dawn develops with top notes of tobacco often sparking comforting memories. Chased with tones of cedar wood you're met with a spicy mix of vetiver and black pepper generously contained with sandalwood, amber, patchouli and aged teak wood."

It's funny, I had never thought to light a candle in the morning until about 2 weeks ago, and I've since the idea came to me, I've been lighting one almost every morning as I get ready (remembering to blow it out before I leave for work is a tall order, but I've succeeded so far). The one I've been lighting has a tanned leather and tobacco scent, and it probably only as one or two more mornings left before it'll run out of wax. I mean, was the universe looking out for me when it sent me a candle with a super similar aroma, an even cooler label, and the suggestion to light it in the morning, or what? So kismet!

Nosejoy March 2018 Roll-On Perfume Nosejoy March 2018 Roll-On Essential Oil Nosejoy March 2018 Positivity Aromatherapy

FrequencySpray Positivity Aromatherapy Perfume Oil Roll-On, 8.5ml  — Retail Value $9.99 (found here for $8.99)

Here's another item that's a fun change of pace from Nosejoy's usual assortment. The essential oils included are avocado oil, lemongrass, orange peel, clove, sweet almond oil, grape seed oil. The infused bits include golden jade stones, dried orange peel, dried lemongrass, calendula petals, and clove buds. Such variety! The overall scent here is sort of complex and hard to pinpoint, but I definitely detected the clove and orange peel most noticeably, which I know are two good oils for immune system strength.

Nosejoy March 2018 Body Wash

Nosejoy March 2018 Simplified Soap

Simplified Soap Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey Body Wash, 2 oz.  — Estimated Value $1.35 (Buy a 17 oz. bottle for $11.50)

This little body wash has a nice, neutral scent. For a brand with "simplified" in the name, I was expecting to spin it around to find a really concise, maybe even largely natural ingredients list, but in reality, it's a bunch of words I can't pronounce. To their defense, I don't really have any idea what all goes into an effective soap or body wash, so maybe this really is a pared-down recipe. The About section of Simplified Soap's website explains how the founder came to a simple lifestyle that included soap-making and implies that goat's milk is used in her recipe. She has very personality-filled, sassy answers to the questions in her FAQ, which makes me like her more and feel more fondly about her products. Isn't it funny how much our emotions come into play with the products we purchase and use? I haven't washed my body with this soap yet, but I've washed my hands with it, and it was an overall positive experience.

Verdict: I give two thumbs up for this month's Nosejoy box. Whereas sometimes Nosejoy themes seem a little vague, this month's theme was specific, aspirational, and one I will definitely keep in mind as I use these products. I also appreciate that Nosejoy seemed to have listened to customer feedback about wishing the product spread had a little more variety. Value-wise, this month was OK. The box costs $34.95 (with free shipping), and the contents of the box only added up to a little over $30. For someone whose first box is this March one, that might be disappointing, but for a long-time subscriber like myself, who has received plenty of boxes with a more balanced value, I'm fine with the slightly lower value.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your subscription will start with the April box. Sign up by the 15th to get that month's box.

Value Breakdown: This month's items added up to  $30.84, which doesn't quite break even with the $34.95 cost of the box (including free shipping). You're paying approximately $8.74 per item, which strikes me as a better deal for some of the products included than for others. Still, I love Nosejoy and I really enjoyed my March box!

I really enjoyed this month’s box too (but then again, I’ve enjoyed all of Nosejoy’s boxes I’ve received). The candle reminded me of the holidays (more like that time around Thanksgiving), and the oil produces a lovely scent memory that makes me want to keep smelling it.

Getting the most bang for my buck isn’t my main motivation when it comes to sub boxes, but rather discovering new brands & products is…. while still feeling like I got my money’s worth for which “personal value” comes into play, and I’ve always felt that with this box.

This is my last box in my 3-month subscription. I don’t plan on re-subscribing until the holidays (if they do a special) or next year, so this will be missed, but I definitely do plan on doing a 6-month sub next time I subscribe. 🙂
