LoveLula Beauty Box February 2018 Review

LoveLula February 2018 - Oil Front LoveLula February 2018 - Oil Dropper LoveLula February 2018 - Oil Back

Ooh! Oils of Heaven Avocado Face Oil, 30 ml - Retail Value $27.03

I’ve received a mini kit of oils from Ooh! before and loved them. I am thrilled that a full-size bottle is included this month. I’ll say that this avocado oil doesn’t smell great, it has a bit of a sharp smell, but it dissipates as the oil sinks in. It’s so moisturizing and I like to add a layer over my moisturizer for when my skin is feeling dry (all the time). The dropper makes it easy to retrieve a couple of drops at a time.

LoveLula February 2018 - Scrub Info

Madara Exfoliating Oil-to-Milk Scrub - 60ml, Retail Value $34.14

This is so luxurious feeling! I love cleansing with oils and exfoliating, and this product combines the two into one step. The consistency is like a thick oil with small, smooth wax microbeads (no plastic beads here) that gently polish the dead flakes away. I massage it onto dry skin for a minute, then add a little water to turn it into a milky cleanser. After rinsing, my skin feels velvety and hydrated with a natural glow.

LoveLula February 2018 - Toner Front LoveLula February 2018 - Toner Detail LoveLula February 2018 - Toner Back

Urban Veda Hydrating Toner - 150ml, Retail Value $18.48

This toner is a great size and says it is perfect for tired and mature skin. I need hydration but I usually don’t expect it from toners. The first thing I noticed is the strong botanical smell, which is a little much for me. When I swiped it on, I experienced some burning and tightness. It just isn’t comfortable for my skin but for someone with less irritation and who likes the super clean feeling, it might work.

LoveLula February 2018 - Cream Front LoveLula February 2018 - Cream Back

Pure & Light Essential Face Cream - 15ml sample, Calculated Value $15.50 (Buy a 50ml full-size for $48.36)

This is a very moisturizing cream made for all skin types. With lots of fatty acids and oils, my dry skin soaks it right up but I think that those with oily skin might find this too rich. It goes on feeling a little waxy but sets to almost a primer like finish perfect for under makeup. I like that the scent is light and neutral. This is a great sized sample too.

The Verdict: I’m happy with my LoveLula Beauty Box this month. Most months include a mix of skincare, makeup, or hair care, but this month was all skincare. Though the toner isn’t for me, the scrub, oil, and cream are wonderful for my skin. I like the fact that I know every product from LoveLula is safe for my skin and comes from brands that are environmentally and socially responsible. This box has a value of $95.15 plus free shipping which I think is a great value for a cost of just under $25. Though being outside of the UK makes this box a little more costly, I think you are paying for a curation of products that are rigorously vetted for their effectiveness, sustainability, quality, and policies against animal testing.

The Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, if you sign up today your first box will be the April box.

Value Breakdown: The box cost about $24.83, and I estimate that I received $95.15 in value. That means I spent approximately the following on each item:

  • Avocado Face Oil: $7.05
  • Facial Scrub: $8.91
  • Facial Toner: $4.82
  • Face Cream: $4.05

This was the last box in my 3-month sub, and I assumed it would automatically renew so I kept waiting & waiting for the March box to show up, but when I looked in my account yesterday no subscriptions were listed, and I realized I was never charged for another 3-month sub. I guess that 3-month sub was either purchased as a gift subscription, or they just don’t renew. I’m sad my subscription has now ended, and since I’m slowly starting to cancel subs to ease myself into my next 6-month sub break starting in a few months, I guess I’ll just let it be & not purchase another subscription.

I did set aside that face oil to use in the very near future. It looked just a wee bit too natural to just let it sit on the shelf for a few months until I got around to using it. Overall, I thought this was a great month (probably because it was all skincare related 😉 ).

I got this box and really like it. I’m mainly into skincare so that was a plus for me, and I’m really happy to have natural beauty. Thanks so much for the very helpful review.

I used to sub to this, but they started putting a different Ooh Oil literally in every month’s box, so I cancelled after three months. I see they’re still sending it.
