Did everybody’s earrings look like the photo above? Wasn’t sure if mine are off or not. One of mine looks just like the photo but the other one has one side where the 2 aren’t really separated, looks like they’re either attached or right next to each other. My husband and daughter think it’s maybe a mistake.???

@HappyRebelBox

Hey, Jen! Shoot us an email with the photo of the earring. We will let you know if something looks off. Thanks!

I’d love to swap for earrings in silver. Just click on my name to see what I have for swap right now. 😉

I got my box today and I am LOVING the shoe bags. I tend travel “well-equipped” so these are perfect for me. The jewelry case is pretty nice but I will most likely swap it because I have the one Luxor. That being said, the one from Luxor is rather large so this one would probably be great for shorter trips.

The earrings appear to be extremely well-made but I typically swap all earrings. I just don’t wear them much. Mine are the silver ones and they really are pretty.

I can’t decide on the little car air purifier. It sounds like a great idea but I will probably never use it. Hmmm…decisions, decisions.

The dice are cute but not sure I have any use for them. And I’m definitely swapping the keyring. It’s cute but I already one that I love.

Overall, it’s a good box. Although I will swap at least half of it, I still think I got my money’s worth.

That’s the problem with having lots of boxes…you get a lot of repeats. But that’s not the box companies’ fault. I love Happy Rebel and will continue to sub to it. Even if I just keep the shoe bags and the car air purifier, it’s a win!

If you are interested in swapping the earrings please email my gmail. It’s daniellemgreen. I LOVE them. I haven’t gotten around to setting up swaps on here but I have a TON of stuff from my many subscriptions to lifestyle and beauty boxes. Thanks!

I’ve never purchased this box but this one is very tempting. The only item I wouldn’t use is the dice but I’m sure my son would find them entertaining. I bought ONE shoe bag(another brand) for a Christmas gift and it was around $20. I would use the jewelry pouch to store jewelry I don’t wear frequently.

Just opened my box and was underwhelmed. Earrings are cute but overpriced. Jewelry case useful but overpriced. Dice are pretty stupid to actually pay for. Key ring cute idea but overpriced. Shoe bags will fit simple shoes and are overpriced. The air purifier is a good thing as long as it works for my car which I think it will. It’s not a terrible box. It’s just not worth $100 in any way to me.

Anna

I’ll use mostly everything in here, may or may not use the dice and probably definitely not the key ring because I already have one I love, but it’s definitely worth $100 to me. I was hoping for some really cute travel items/accessories, things I wouldn’t buy for myself. This was not it.

T.Marie

The jewelry holder is large! I’m impressed.

I do not subscribe to this box but was checking out spoilers to see what’s up. I haven’t looked beyond this one because this, hands down, has to be the most disappointing haul for $100 I’ve ever seen! Like ever. I kept scrolling thinking there would be more in the box but alas, no.

Amanda

I am excited to receive my box! I really like the earrings, key ring, and car purifier/charger. I will use the jewelry case, and I will definitely use the shoe bags. Would I pay that much for them? No way, but that’s the fun of sub boxes for me. Right now I have my gym shoes in a plastic bag because I don’t like shoes touching clothes. Now I’ll have one of these bags to use!

Reply ButtonReply

Marnie

I completely agree with you! I just received my box and am thrilled with everything in it. My biggest concern is that it will encourage me to pack 6 pairs of shoes on my next short trip 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Meg

I love 5 out of the 6 items! It’s a win for me! 🙂

Tamara

I decided to look up the RVs of the branded items, because I’m weird that way. 😉 These are according to their own sites.

The Schatzii air purifier/charging port is indeed $60 on Schatzii’s site. I think Schatzii is insane for assigning that price, but that’s on them, not HR.
-The earrings are actually $55, not $56.
-The travel dice are actually $12, not $14.
-someone on the forum found the keyring listed at $6, not $8.

If you assign a more reasonable RV to the jewelry case (I’m thinking $30 – although this is hard to pin down since there are similar leather jewelry cases out there that are a WIDE array of RVs, from $15-over $100) and the shoe bags (I’m thinking $30, which I think is generous), the RV is still well over $100.

The branded items alone are worth $133, plus say about $50 total for the other two items, brings it to $183. That’s okay for a $100 box. Not the kind of RV we’d see in, say Rachel Zoe BoS or PSMH LEs, but HR doesn’t have those kinds of resources, so I’m okay with it.

Whether you actually want the products is another question.

It still bothers me a lot that HR claims an RV higher than the manufacturer does. But I’ll say this: if she wants to sell these items at a small markup, a la a boutique, to include the shipping cost, etc, that’s her prerogative. But PLEASE, list the ACTUAL RVs in the box’s booklet. Please do not claim that your price is the actual RV. That’s just lying.

Reply ButtonReply

Sammy

You’re not weird, I do the same thing! 😀

I would disagree the jewelry case could be considered being worth as low as $15. I will come back and comment here if I change my mind after seeing it in person, but it’s real leather and a generous yet convenient size. I would say a full price of $60-100 is more in line with what I found elsewhere online (without seeing any of them in person). If you really found a comparable match to this one for $15 please tell us where you found it because I will buy more as gifts lol

Same with the shoe bag set. I had actually been eyeing some from Bag-all that are super similar, and they are $14 each! I definitely found cheaper ones too, but they are not as cute, made of different material, etc. I think when you are looking for comps, you have to be careful to compare apples to apples.

Also, I have absolutely no issue with the way HR prices things. I hate being hit with another $8 in S&H when I get to my cart of I am just getting a small item. For example, the lightning bolt key ring is $6 on manufacture website, but put it in my cart and it adds another $7.95. To me, that’s a huge factor. It doesn’t make the store dishonest, I will just choose to buy it elsewhere at a lower all-in price.

“Retail value” is a super generic term. The “retail price” of the item on their website is what is in their booklets (from what I have seen so far).

MSRP is a completely different thing. It’s the manufacturers SUGGESTED retail price. It’s up to the retailers to assign their own price (within the manufacturers guidelines they might have). I am in retail so I can tell you, you can buy the EXACT same item at 5 different boutiques at 5 different prices, none of which are the MSRP. That doesn’t make any of the stores (or their owners) liars.

“Value” is totally in the eye of the buyer. I totally agree with what you said when it comes down to “value” which is what I do with subscription boxes. If I picked this up in the store would I put it back down, or want to buy it for myself or as a gift? If I want to buy it, how much would I pay for it? Add those numbers together and if it is equal to the box price… win! And this box (and every Happy Rebel box I have received) is a win for me. This doesn’t even acknowledge the curation aspect of this box, which I think is also very good.

Reply ButtonReply

Snowhitetwin

Thank you for the clarification. Your last paragraph was exactly what I meant in my original post. At the end of the day, the subscription box will either please you or let you down for the price paid and that is obviously purely subjective.

Snowhitetwin

My postings aren’t showing up…

So I’ll repeat myself. Retail values are crap. A product’s true retail value is the dollar amount a seller can actually receive for his product from in a marketplace.

Reply ButtonReply

Tamara

Okaaaaay… Well the Schatzii air purifier is selling at the this price on Spring.com and Sharper Image. And Robyn Rhodes pretty much only sells on her website. But considering her pieces are all over the place (Google the name and you’ll find all sorts of references), it does look like her pieces sell for the amounts she lists them for.

I’m not really sure what your point is, though. Are you disputing the manufacturers MSRVs? If so, I don’t know was l what else to say other than what I just said. Unless by marketplace, you mean eBay and places like it. If that’s the case, there are some problems with the argument (mostly a supply and demand thing.) If you’re saying these items aren’t worth that to YOU, that’s certainly your right to say that you don’t think a product isn’t worth the MSRP and refuse to pay it. But then we’re often getting into issues of personal taste and that’s not on HR or any other sub box.

I personally think a lot of the items we see in certain sub boxes are overpriced, but in *most* cases, those listed RVs are what they actually sell for. And I’m not paying those MSRVs, anyway, since I got them in a sub box. 🙂

Jennifer

No, that’s market value. Retail value is what someone wants to sell it for. Market value is what people are willing to pay and thus, retail values get marked down to market values when they don’t sell at the retail price.

Snowhitetwin

Retail value is crap. A product’s true value is what dollar amount a seller can actually get for his product in a marketplace setting. I certainly wouldn’t sweat over a couple dollar discrepancy either…

It’s not bad, just a bit light for the cost.

I think this is a great box for traveling. Everythings going to turn out handy. I don’t travel and I want this box. Those shoe bags are so darling. And I could use the Jewelry box but i found an acrylic on the Bollie website for 100.00. And it had darling knobs. Hmmm decisions. Maybe I can give the other things to my daughter.

Krista

Maybe it’s just me but I’m pumped to give the air purifier a go.

I love the keyring and the earrings and I love organizational stuff so the jewelry pouch is a win for me too. The shoe bags – I probably won’t use them for shoes, but I bet I’ll use them for something else travelling (these seem much bigger than the Sephora Play monthly bags, to another comment – I can’t fit any of my shoes in those).

The dice are a loss for me, but they fit well with the theme and they could be kinda fun – I’m just a control freak and I like itineraries when it comes to travel.

Overall, that’s basically $20 an item for the things I really like, and I’m good with that. Still love Happy Rebel. Other than Gwynnie Bee and Ellie, it’s the only box I’ve kept.

Reply ButtonReply

Karen

No keyring is worth $20

Reply ButtonReply

Cat

It’s available on Fred and friends website for $6 right now

Krista

You are entitled to your opinion, but that does not mean it’s true for me.

Tamara

I think that’s why they do the cost per item in the reviews, where you consider the MSRV if the item as a percentage of the total MSRV of all the box’s items, compared to the cost of the box.

So, based on HR’s listed prices of each item (some of which I reject, but that’s another issue), one is paying about $3 for the keyring.

2imo

OMG – what a joke! This is truly one of the worst boxes I have ever purchased.

Reply ButtonReply

Susan

Yes, it is. But I think the technology rocks one was even worse than this. I just canceled my subscription. This is just not worth the $100 I paid for.

Reply ButtonReply

Pilar

Nice stuff and I really like everything picture but this month’s box looks like it is worth $50-$60 not the $100 price.

Reply ButtonReply

Carissa

I agree…. I can’t believe anyone would pay $100 for this! A tiny set of earrings that can probably be found in any Forever 21 for $5, a flimsy key ring that no one really cares about, two empty bags, and some dice that could easily be home made? The only thing of any value is the USB port! What a joke of a box.

Reply ButtonReply

Tamara

You are definitely NOT finding those earrings at Forever 21. You might find something that looks similar, but I highly doubt they’d be of the same quality. Robyn Rhodes makes quality pieces.

Julie

Based on previous comments by the founder I would estimate that 40% of the cost is for the box and the other 60% is you supporting a small business owned by a woman in other words Johanna.

Reply ButtonReply

Allison

LOL!!! You are so right. I’m sure she’s raking it in.
This is the funniest thing I’ve read today!

Jj

Wow! What an assumption!

Anna

I’m actually amazed the dice are only marked up by $2 on HR site from Uncommon Goods.

E.E

???

Kim

Agreed…I definitely would not have spent $100 on this collection had I seen it before I was charged and it was shipped.

Reply ButtonReply

Pilar

I think they should just lower their price to $65 quarterly because some of the items monthly are hit and miss, a smart move for them would be them being $10 cheaper than the new PopSugar boxes because HR boxes are not bad and I would hate for them to close their doors but the $100 a box and the price inflation they do is too much!

Jen

I’m actually a little excited about the dice, I like that kind of stuff. I’m hoping that the shoe bags will be good quality, I wouldn’t use them for shoes but love the idea of using them to separate outfits for travel.

I really won’t know how I feel about it all until I get my box, but I can say I don’t feel like this is worth $100. 🙁 I love Happy Rebel and they have had some awesome boxes, but I wouldn’t shell out $100 for these items if I was out shopping. I could be wrong and the quality of everything could knock my socks off, but it’s not too likely. Still excited to get it though.

Reply ButtonReply

Sammy

Yesssss I love this box! I was actually about to buy some similar shoe travel bags but they were so expensive so I held off. Plus I love the shoe designs I see so far on this set more. I can’t wait to see what the other designss are. What a great surprise! The jewelry portfolio looks fab too and the storage space seems well appointed. I will use everything!

I do think they live up to the style they promise… I see them as modern minimalist with a bit of an edgy twist. Like the shoe bags have edgier style shoe designs than other similar ones I have seen, the lightning bolt and barbed wire are on the edgier side vs. what you might usually see for the same items. More black/neutral/metallic color pallet. I love it!

Reply ButtonReply

Shay

I love the earrings and the car purifier. Does Happy Rebel do discount codes?

Reply ButtonReply

Janelle

So I managed to escape the mystery box kerfuffle. This box is fine. I love jewelry organizers. The dice are a throwaway item. But I just saw they listed the RV for the shoe bags as $68. Happy Rebel, you have officially lost me.
***
Random cotton drawstring bags for $68? They also say they feature iconic shoe designs. Did they pay Valentino to license an image of their rockstud shoes? It just seems like they ripped off a bunch of designer images and are trying to upmarket made in China drawstring bags. You can literally buy Hermes shoe bags for the same price. With the $20 Luxor box rooster diffusor being passed off for $100 and OP $5 cookies for $30, I really think the price inflation on subscription boxes has gone too far. At what point do people decide they will get a better deal at TJ Maxx? Other than one subscription, I’m down to one-off boxes when there is at least one item I would pay RV for.

Reply ButtonReply

Sammy

Hermes shoe bags for the same price? Where?? Bag-all has similar travel bags that are $14 each…. I wouldn’t personally pay full price for those bags (or $68 for this set by itself) but getting them in the box (split price of like $24) is great. I don’t see anything wrong with the retail price.

Reply ButtonReply

Kim

I get a free cloth drawstring bag from Sephora I throw away monthly…seriously $68???

Reply ButtonReply

Amber

you must have tiny feet if you can stuff shoes in sephora bags lololol I totally get it though

Connie

I am looking forward to this box and will use everything, except the dice. When looking at the cost of this box what works for me is will I use the items and would I have bought them. Sometimes the fun of a box is getting items you may not buy for yourself but glad that you got them.

Reply ButtonReply

Danielle

I’ve been waiting for these spoilers. Hoping I could justify the $100 because I LOVE those earrings. And the keyring is pretty cool. Unfortunately I just have no use for any of the other stuff. Guess I’ll hope someone wants to swap the earrings—if they get silver that is.

Reply ButtonReply

Nope

Sadly, I think their tendency to inflate retail values will be on full display with this box.

Reply ButtonReply

shakira

Decent box, but not really for me.

Reply ButtonReply

T.Marie

I don’t think my “edgy” boots will fit in the shoe bags. Especially the knee high ones. This is an odd box to me for this company and the price. Individuality, some of these items are great but to put them all in this $100 box just doesn’t do it for me.

#feelingrippedoff

Reply ButtonReply

Allison

This box has never lived up to it’s promise of being edgy. I truly hope it will one day.

Reply ButtonReply

Tamara

Their first box or two did have more of an edgy style, but it seems like interest in the sub got way higher when they started to minimize the edgy quality. So I can’t say that I blame them for shifting. And there is still some edge here and there. I’d say barbed wire earrings have an edge. And there continues to be a lot of black and gray. :: shrug::
