I love when subscription boxes take the time to give context for what they’ve curated and tell the story of each item. This booklet goes deep explaining the contents of the box via short, engaging articles.

Marylou Faure 7″ Art Card/Postcard

This artful postcard featuring art by Marylou Faure doubles as a print! I love the voluptuous, outline-free shapes on this print—they feel fresh and modern.

Exclusive Symbology Kimono

Handmade in Jaipur, India, this kimono is light, effortless, and a little romantic, too. I love the white and strawberry floral patterns dotting this peachy pink piece. I threw it over my tank and jeans for the photos above, but I can attest that it feels so ethereal to wear over a comfy bralette and pajama pants. My loungewear game is so lackluster—lots of big t-shirts and some amazing MeUndies lounge pants that are comfy, but not particularly flattering. This kimono makes me feel as relaxed as a worn-in t-shirt, but with an added sense of elegance and sophistication. I feel like a woman in a magazine when I wear it! It’s perfect for pairing with a face mask, a new scented candle, and a good book.

Set of Two Tea Towels by Bloom & Give – Retail Value $24.00

These towels are simple, but that’s what I like about them! They go beautifully with my otherwise rather simple kitchen aesthetic. Made from 100% cotton, these towels are made using a 500-year-old South Indian tradition. Better yet, the company behind these crisp, washable towels gives 10% of their sales to girls’ education programs!

PF Candle Co Amber and Moss Reed Diffuser – Retail Value $22.00

I love the antiquey look of this reed diffuser, though the fragrance wasn’t really my favorite. It’s very very mossy, if that makes sense. Just a little too green for my tastes. But I can appreciate how powerful the oil is—as soon as I dropped the reeds into this brown-tinted bottle, the fragrance oil started creeping up them, then out into my room… and beyond! I will caution you that whatever ends up very close to this oil diffuser will end up smelling like it! I put some papers right near the diffuser, dropped them in my bag, and took them out at my office, and this mossy scent bloomed into the air as soon as the papers came out of the bag! It is powerful!

Soko Bow Earrings – Retail Value $42.00

These earrings are awesome, and unlike anything I currently have in my closet. I love the dynamic arcing shape. They’re kind of like futuristic hoops. Better yet, I learned that Soko is a company that empowers entrepreneurs, like the Kenyan artisans behind these minimalist earrings, with digital business technologies. Awesome!

mascara package

Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Ultra-Natural Mascara, 0.3 oz. – Retail Value $24.00

I love a good mascara, but admittedly, I’m not always the most adept at applying it. I always seem to get clumps, or when trying to remedy the clumps, wind up with more mascara on my lashes than I intended. I found this one to be really easy to build up—it says it’s lightweight, and I found that to be true. It’s also vegan and cruelty-free, which are two big plusses in my book.

rosehip oil

Scentuals Rejuvenating Rosehip Beauty Oil, 2 fl. oz. – Retail Value $23.19

After spending much of my life thinking the answer to my oily T-zone was drying my skin out with astringent cleansers, I’ve finally discovered the skin-balancing magic of facial oils. Turns out, for me, my skin was just in need of a big drink of nutrients, and was overcompensating for what it was lacking. This facial oil offered my face a nice splash of much-appreciated moisture without feeling overly heavy on my skin. The flower garden fragrance wasn’t bad either!

Verdict: I’m more and more impressed with CAUSEBOX.  I really love the quality of each of the items they feature, as well as the many mission-driven companies they highlight. For someone like me, who is trying to be a more ethically conscious shopper, it’s a great box for brand discovery, too. If I was new to CAUSEBOX, I feel like I might be slightly turned off by the cost, which is over $50.00. But the quality of the items inside and the attention paid to curation and the experience of the box makes it a great, cost-effective choice, from my perspective.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? As of today, 3/9, yes! But inventory is low—hurry and nab yours today!

Value Breakdown: This box cost me $54.95 and included 7 items. The non-exclusive items that I could find prices for had a total retail value of $135.19—that’s already over twice the price of the box. You can also think about the value in terms of average price I paid per item. Given that the box is $54.95, I paid $7.85 for each of the 7 items.

  1. This was the box I joined Causebox for and, two years later, the spring 2018 box still my favorite box (from any subscription service I’ve tried).

  2. I’ve had 3 boxes so far and i cancelled. There were just too many items I couldn;t use. The kimono was too short and too thin for my taste, the earrings were ugly and useless to me since I don;t have pierced ears, I didn;t like the Juice Beauty mascara was any better than other ma than any other non-lengthening mascaras, I didn’t care for the fragrance included with the diffuser . Th entire contents of the box was given away, some to the Salvation Army Thrift Store as family members didn’t want the items either.. no family member wanted the kimono as well as the table runner from the last box as the pattern was too strange and did not coordinate with our decor. This subscription box just isn’t for me. although I am happy that it appeals to so many people as they do good work. I will refrain from rating this box as their charity give-back is admirable.

    • Meanwhile, I wish I had picked Causebox over Fabfitfun. I loved the table runner from Winter and would have used most of Spring. I will switch when my year runs out.
I am not a fan of the kimono though. It’s so pink.

  3. I’d love it if the photos of review items like the kimono taken on people of different sizes and shapes it makes it easier to tell what it’s like IRL.
I recall one of the fall or winter reviews having several pics of different people in a wrap/poncho maybe FFF.

    • Kimono “were taken”

  4. I’m loving the art on the postcard such a nice touch. The kimono is beautiful. It goes great with the earrings! This box is beautiful. I wish it was in my budget. Juice Beauty is so hyped up right now. I can’t wait to read how other people enjoyed their mascara. What a great cause. It’s great to see brands donate their products to help raise money for charity. What a great box with a great message!

    • I was not a fan of the mascara. It basically deposits color but adds no additional volume or length and unfortunately I need that! I do love other Juice Beauty products, their lip colors and face products are great!

  5. I love their earrings! They would also be what I would put in a best of box.

  6. This spring box is amazing! I especially love the reed diffuser. Fresh woodsy fragrance. And the earrings are lovely. I’ve been wearing them everyday since I got them. Great job Causebox. Your best collection yet.

  7. I received my box yesterday and it was great but I don’t recall seeing the Rose Hips Oil. I have to check again. I fell in love with the earrings -gorgeous!

  8. Has anyone had to deal with their customer service? My kimono had holes and stains and I really hope to get an exchange because I really love it.

    • Yes, I DoD when I tried to find out if the kimono would fit me as a plus sized woman and it literally took 4 days for them on my ticket before I just cancelled it and figured I’d just call, bit I haven’t gotten around to it. Bit you MUST call them if you expect to get anywhere!!! Otherwise, your ticket will fall into the Causebox “black hole”. Don’t get me wrong i ADORE my Causebox Sub. And it will soon be my ONLY BOX!!! BUT, their customer service could use some help!!-

    • Honestly they respond really quickly on Instagram, so if you post that you had an issue and need to return it they should comment and tell you to send them an email – then hopefully that email will be answered faster than if you’d sent it without letting them know on Instagram first.

      • Thanks! I’ll try out the Instagram tip. They sent me a follow-up to my ticket but just that it had been created. :-/

      • Good news, y’all! Causebox responded on the ticket email and let me know they would be sending a replacement. Yay!

      • Congratulations to you, sweetie!! Because it really is THE single most luxe thing I have in my closet!!! In fact since I got my box yesterday I still have yet to take it off!! But, hey congratulations again and Enjoy that Kimono!!!

  9. You DO have pretty eyes!! And such a cute, petite little figure!!! Keep up the good job of reviewing!!!!

  10. Can you tell me if you know if the kimono from Symbology will fit a plus sized woman of size 18/20?

    • i’m about a 16/18 and it fit fine with some room

      • Thank-you so much!!! You were able to answer a question for me that Causebox was unable to do themselves!!! I am so excited now because I’m to get my box in just a few hours from now since it is out for delivery today!!! Hooray, and ill have a bright shiny new kimono to wear with spring colors!!! Thank you again soooo much!!!!!

      • no problem! glad to help!

  11. Do you think that this kimono will fit a plus sized woman say a size 18/20?? I tried to contact Causebox directly but never got an answer from them about this.

  12. Anna, you have amazing skin!

  13. This kimono looks a lot like the spoiler for the April Globein box

  14. FYI, Causebox put values up on their website, and listed the kimono at $105 for everyone who was wondering.

    • What material is the kimono? I have sensitive skin but it’s so pretty!

      • It’s 100% rayon. Mine came today and I adore it.

  15. What material are the earrings made of? Fingers crossed their sterling silver since that’s all my ears can take!

    • I wondered the same thing. I visited the Soko website and it states “Silver products are recycled brass with a chrome plating.”

  16. This may be the best box of the year out of all of the subs! There is nothing wrong that I can see. Well, this or the March Le Metier de Beaute. Toss up!

  17. Can’t wait to get mine, I just ordered last night!

  18. Wow!! I just got my box today and I am SUPER thrilled with it. Especially the rose hip oil!! I put it on my dry elbows and legs and it is AMAZING!! Love Causebox!!

  19. I think this is a really nice box…I just wish there were options to customize it. Would have loved that hat in the last box to be black stripes (not brown) and the kimono in a darker print would have been great.

    • You and I have the same taste in color schemes! Pink was definitely a departure for me—if it was black, gray, or even a deep sapphire blue, the kimono would’ve fit into my regular wardrobe much better. But it is spring, I suppose, so peachy pink is definitely appropriate! Fingers crossed they do some customization options in the future so folks can pick the palette of their choice 🙂

  20. Wow, I love this box! I just order one because of the kimono and the great review!

  21. I ordered even before I read your review and after reading it, I am happy I ordered. Been looking at this box for a while and since I have cut back on boxes I thought why not try it. Love their purpose and curation looks solid. Thank you for an insightful review.

    • Yay! You are very welcome, Lia 🙂 I’m excited to see what you think of CAUSEBOX!

  22. .

  23. Hm, comments not posting? Trying again. I’m canceling a couple of beauty subs for this one. The mascara looks perfect, the kimono will make a beautiful gift for my Japan-obsessed niece, I like mossy scents and I have a hang up on nice tea towels. The earrings make me jealous. I have those parts and never thought to assemble them that way! Awesome idea as it has the panache of big hoops with actually being big hoops. Fie on makeup boxes. More lifestyle boxes for me!

  25. If anyone wants to swap their tea towels, please let me know! I would love to grab 2 or 3 sets!!

  26. I have a use for every item in this box. Will need to check out to see if any are left. The kimono is exactly what I need to wear over my summer pjs. Good review and your eyes are a pretty color.

    • Aw, thank you, Virginia!!!

  27. CAUSEBOX has become my favorite box. I’ve whittled down my subscriptions and after my BOS annual is up I think this will be my only one. I haven’t gotten a product from them that I haven’t loved or been able to use yet!

      • I cancelled FFF after my annual was up and have only gotten 1 of the last 4 BOS. This and Margot Elena are my replacement boxes. I’ve also cut beauty down to only allure and look fantastic.

  28. Was the postcard part of the 7 items @$7.85 each, or were you counting the tea towel set as 2 items for the price breakdown?

    • Hi CJ! I counted the postcard – it was listed along with the other featured items in the booklet, so I think it’s supposed to be considered as an item that contributes value to the box (rather than a promotional card, etc.). Hope that helps!

  29. I’m loving your reviews!! Keep them coming!

  30. Terrific Review Anna! You have such pretty eyes!

    • Thank you, Nancy! You are so sweet!
