I have never purchased anything from Birch Box. What is a curated box? Do you have to purchase that in addition to the subscription box or can you choose that instead of the subscription box if you want to.

I am somewhat interested in Birch Box but I don’t know how it all works. If someone would explain it to me it sure would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I’ll try to explain (although I think that MSA has a description of how it works on this website).

You can choose to subscribe to Birchbox monthly for $10.00 or annually for $110. Each month you get to choose from 3 samples or a ‘curated’ box. I believe that Birchbox uses the terms curated and subscription box interchangeably.

The curated box can be organized around a theme and on occasion a person connected with the beauty industry will create a special Birchbox box. Usually it’s just a collection of different samples. You get to choose what appeals to you (either one of the samples or the box). If you choose one of the sample choices, the rest of the samples in your box will be based on the profile that you filled out.

Sometimes the subscription or curated box will be put on the Birchbox website. If you did not choose this as your choice for your monthly box, you can purchase it at this time.

You can either choose one of the three choices then they will give you 4 more products that they choose for your box or you can get the curated box and you know exactly what your are getting or you can do the choice and also purchase the curated box and get two boxes in one month. Hope this helps.

Hi,

Could anyone please tell me when exactly I have to buy the monthly subscription, if I want to receive the April box and not the March one?

I have never subscribed to a beauty box unitl now (obviously) and don’t really know how the timing with the payments works?

If March 28th is the sample choosing date, does that mean that signing up for a box on that date will guarantee that I will receive the April box?

Thanks in advance, beauties!

Last month the only day you could choose a sample without getting the previous month was the day ACEs chose their sample. It changes every month so you may have to contact CS. Chat is a good method. If you don’t care about sample choice then just wait until April 1.

Yep. Love the box! 💗

I’m having a hard time choosing between the mascara and the mousse. 😖 I will probably choose the mousse and I will def be buying the curated box as well. That’s my favorite shampoo + conditioner ever! I got a Clarins sample in my box this month as well.

Oribe for me. I was excited when I saw the offerings for the featured box, bit then I remembered that Davines line isn’t for me. Still, a great selection for April and this is the prettiest box they’ve had in a loooooong time.

I have yet to be disappointed with my Birchbox sub. I like the option to choose one sample and let them pick the rest. Some sample sizes are a bit small but I definitely enjoy the products and use each and every one. Also, like how they keep me interact with the sub each month.

For sure picking that mascara, I’m having a hard time finding anything that works for my oily eyelids. Everything just slides off :/ maybe this one will work though!

April curated box seems pretty nice. I will use all the products inside as a lot of them are everyday staples such as moisturizer, shampoo, scrub..etc. the lip color is pretty and subtle pink for everyday use too.
Overall well-curated box in my opinion!

What a BEAUTIFUL box design!!! <3

So true….they haven’t been lately but this is REALLLY REALLY GORGEOUS

Treat_Choself

Yup. I kind of want to re-subscribe just for the box itself.

Same! I was on the fence after seeing the sample choices, but the pretty box design makes the decision easier.
Maybe they’ll do a box design contest in the future so we can keep seeing exciting designs

The box is gorgeous! I’m torn between the mascara, which I got from them last month, and Coola primer. I love trying new primers but I use Bareminerals bb cream that already has SPF.
Ideas? Advice?

The box is pretty. I’d like to see a Review on YES OH YAS and BEAUTY BOX TIME. I haven’t seen much on those.

So, I looked up Beauty Box Time, after reading your comment. Id love to see reviews for it too! You get to pick your items! Its hard finding unboxing videos due to the name of it, I think. Too generic.

Ragan

There are several reviews of Yes Oh Yas on this site. Tiffany (I think) does them.

All of the sample picks look good to me. I’ve been wanting to try that mascara, so I’ll most likely choose that. I love trying new primers too, so I’ll cross my fingers it’s included in the box. I’ve used that Oribe mousse before, and boy does it work in filling out the hair and giving it more volume! I just ran it through dry hair and voila. The only thing was that it did make my hair harder to brush through the next day.

I think I’m also going to pick up the curated box. I love, love, love that Davines shampoo & conditioner, and am currently using that Clarins day cream, and like the Acure scrub, & the lipstick seems wearable. The eyeliner will be gifted though.

Is the scent of the mousse quite strong?

I’d love to try it, but strong “perfume” scents can bring on migraines for me 🙁

Thanks in advance for any info!

The mascara is amazing. I was skeptical, but already ordered a full size now.

Amy Harvey

that mascara is amazing I wasn’t going to open it right away because I have a million mascaras I haven’t tried but I opened it because it was the only one that I had with me and when I pulled it out I really wasn’t too impressed by their bristles cuz they’re real short but man they made my eyelashes look so long and I didn’t even curl them

Luna

I forgot to ask… does the mascara come off easily enough with typical eye makeup remover?

Luna

Oooh, good to know! Thanks! 😀

Angie

I’m sick of their sample sizes and choices lately. I was excited last month for a surprise from them but I was deeply disappointed with foil packets so I’m canceling bc it doesn’t seem to be getting any better

Agree
After having subscription like boxycharm it’s BB and ipsy are pointless

Redhed36

I’ll have to go with Oribe. Unfortunately the only thing that appeals to me in featured box is shampoo and cond.

Megan

The box is beautiful! They have always done a pretty great job picking out my samples for me so I’ll choose one as usual, however I may also purchase the curated box.

Ragan

Why would I want mascara that lasted 36 hours?

Reply ButtonReply

MaryDixie

It’s so when you spend the night at your boyfriends, you don’t have to sneak to the bathroom at 4am and put on ‘your face’, a la Bridesmaids lol.

Luna

I think I’ll be choosing this for my box since I’ve been wanting to try it, but I sure do hope it’s not like this one mascara I tried a few years ago that was marketed as a 4-day mascara (it was from some brand you could find in Sephora… I think Tarte). I couldn’t get that stuff off no matter what I did! Like a dummy I put more mascara on the next day (big mistake!), and all I could do was give it a few days & impatiently wait until it wore/fell off. Well it did do what it said it would do, I guess. haha

I bought the Bad Girl Bang at Ulta (in the smaller size) when it first came out, and I really like it. I use the makeup remover cloths from Costco, and it comes off without a problem. It takes a bit more effort, but it’s still pretty easy to remove.

I’ll probably choose it as my pick this month, so I can put off buying a new one for a few more weeks. I have no interest in the Oriba (my hair hates mousse), and I like my Whish primer (that I learned about in a previous Birchbox).

Ragan

With my luck, something like that would really irritate my eyes and I wouldn’t be able to wear my contacts for a week.

LOL!😂

I received that sample in IPsy and thought the same thing! Just means more chemicals used=(

Kelly

My stash is out of control, but I really love the box design.

“Aero particles delivered from space technology” – I laughed out loud! Still want to try it though. It will be hard to choose between this and the mousse!

The mascara really is awesome I didn’t think I would like it but I replaced the Stila big Lash that was in my purse with that one
