Bando Goody Goodie $25 Bag Review

Sip Sip Tumbler with Straw in Free Refills

Sip Sip Tumbler with Straw in Free Refills - Retail Value $14 (found here for $11)

I was excited to get some new ban.do drinkware in this bag because I love my Free Refills tumbler from the July 2017 Popsugar Must Have Box. Surprise — I got the same cup in this box. While I am a little bummed, ban.do had no way of knowing I already had it. Plus, I am addicted to tumblers (I have about 6 that I rotate through throughout the week), so I am more than happy to have this as a backup.

Sip Sip Straw Set in Color Block

Sip Sip Straw Set in Color Block - Retail Value $10 (found here for $8. Currently sold out)

As a lover of tumblers, I am stoked to have this set of straws to add spruce to my drinks. I am a big straw lover. I really, really don't like drinking from cups if I do not have a straw, which isn't a good thing when you're at a busy restaurant and your waitress forgot your straw. Maybe I will keep one of these babies in my purse for those times when restaurants do not provide me cylindrical plastic tubes to consume my beverage. That being said, considering other items that ban.do has, the designs of these straws feel a bit tame.

Too Cold to Hold Drink Sleeve in Free Refills - Retail Value $5 (found here for $3)

I usually pour any drink that comes in a can or bottle into one of my tumblers, so this drink sleeve won’t be used much in my apartment. That being said, my mom ALWAYS has a drink sleeve on her beverages, so I think I will pass this on to her. It is a cute and bright red, which means that at parties or get-togethers she will always be able to tell her beer from someone else’s.

Whatcha Thinkin’ Bout Journal in Will You Accept This Rose

Whatcha Thinkin’ Bout Journal in Will You Accept This Rose - Retail Value $14 (found here for $11)

I can’t look at this journal without thinking of that explosive finale of the Bachelor. Becca should have thrown the roses in Aries face so he could never have done her dirty like that. That aside, I love the pop of bright pink of the pagemarker, and the included stickers are a fun touch. My only wish is that a notebook had been included instead of a journal— I always find it hard to write in anything that isn't spiral bound. However, I am really digging the pocket in the back of the journal to hold notes, pictures, concert tickets, or whatever you want to keep with your journal!

Compliment Card Set in Your Future Looks Bright/ Stay Golden

Compliment Card Set in Your Future Looks Bright/Stay Golden - Retail Value $6 (found here for $4)

This combines some of my favorite stationary things into one gorgeous item— ombre and metallic lettering. These compliment cards come in a pack of 24 and are about the size of a business card. The back has just enough space for you to write a sweet, quick note to someone that will make them smile. I am big on writing notes and letters, so I already have plans for writing quick thoughts to some of the ladies I work with. I plan on keeping these at my desk at work, so whenever the need arises I can always have a gorgeous way to brighten someone's day.

Embroidered Patch in Endless Summer

Embroidered Patch in Endless Summer - Retail Value $12 (found here for $9)

I know patches have really gotten popular over the past year or so, but this is the first time one in a subscription box has made its way to me. I love the colors of the rainbow on this iron-on patch, and it is not too big to be hard to find a place to put it (it measures in at 2.75" by 4"). I know putting patches on denim is popular, but I don’t have a denim jacket. I would love ideas on what to do with this beautiful patch!

Enamel Pin in Forever Girl Gang

Enamel Pin in Forever Girl Gang - Retail Value $14 (found here for $10)

Like patches, enamel pins have gotten really popular in the past year as well. I like that this is a cute take on the friendship charm without having to be something you wear on your neck— definitely a grown-up way to show off your friendship. Likewise, the “forever girl gang” saying is a bit better than simply saying “bff,” and I love the rose gold! I am thinking about pinning one half to the strap of my purse, but I haven't figured out which friend to give the other half to! Even if you didn’t want to wear your half of the pin, it would be cute on a cork board or trinket dish.

The Verdict: This was my first time experiencing a mystery bag from ban.do, and I really enjoyed it. Some things weren't a perfect fit for me, but I love the aesthetic of the brand as a whole and I enjoyed branching out a bit (enamel pin and patch, I am looking at you). I also think the value is definitely there since you are paying $30 ($25 for the bag plus $5 shipping) and getting more than double that in cute, fun products.

The Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? Unfortunately, the goody goodie bags are no longer available for sale.

Value Breakdown: I calculated a value of $75 using the original price of the items, which I think is fair for the items for I received. Since this box cost $30 ($25 + $5 shipping), that means you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Tumbler: $5.60
  • Straw Set: $4
  • Drink Sleeve: $2
  • Journal: $5.60
  • Compliment Cards: $2.40
  • Patch: $4.80
  • Pin: $5.60

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I would put the patch on a beach or gym bag for sure. You could always find a cute denim hat and retro it up as well.
