Your Bijoux Box February 2018 Review

info card for february bijoux box

product list for february your bijoux box

Here's a product list for the month.

gold pendant necklace with geometric shapes

House of Harlow Pendant - Listed Value $108.00

There's a chance that you didn't receive this same style in your box—the info card notes that styles may vary. This long gold pendant has a geometric simplicity about it that I like. The pairing of the diamond and the circle feels a little unexpected and out of the ordinary, but the resulting pendant is modern and sort of artsy. I think my favorite aspect of the necklace is the pearlescent accents. They give the piece a slightly witchy, bohemian vibe. The chain measures 24" long (plus a 2-inch extender), and the pendant is 3.5" long.

silver hook shaped earrings

silver ear jackets

ear jackets in pieces

House of Harlow Earrings - Listed Value $68.00

These silver earrings are a cool interpretation of ear jackets. They're about 0.75" long, so rather than hug my earlobes, they kind of swoop down beneath them. Each stud-like square has a tiny rhinestone inside it for a little bit of sparkle, and while you can't really see them when the earrings are on, there are tiny black patterns around the edges of each square. I always have trouble with ear jackets, as they usually require you to thread the post through the extra backing piece (which holds the lower portion of the ear jacket) and then through the actual backing bit. These ear jackets are actually just two pieces—the lower part of the ear jacket actually doubles as the backing, so there's no threading involved. That also means fewer pieces for me to misplace!

beaded bracelet laid flat

Deepa by Deepa Gurnani Bria Bracelet - Listed Value $50.00

This is another case where you may have gotten a different style than I did! This bracelet is a bit more boho-chic than what I'd typically reach for, but I do love the gold and silver details on this black, faux-leather bracelet. The beaded band of the bracelet is about 6.5" long, and then you can use the 2.5" of cord to tighten or loosen the fit.

spongelle sponge

spongelle label

Bonus: Spongelle in Bulgarian Rose, 1.5 oz.

I couldn't find this item online, nor is there a value listed for it. I've gotten Spongelle products in boxes before, and they do work pretty well. The idea is that the soap is pre-soaked into the sponge so that you have one less thing to worry about bringing along when you travel (or even in your own shower). This one is on the smaller side, so it's comfortable enough to fit in my hand and not too clunky to pop in a toiletry bag. The scent is really pretty, though it's a bit overpowering for my taste. Still, I like that it's cruelty-free and contains some nourishing natural ingredients, too.

The Verdict: I liked the earrings in this box best of all, though I could see gifting the other two pieces to friends with slightly different styles than mine. I will say that the necklace hit closer to my typical sense of style—for awhile, I worried that this subscription's vibe was a little too glam/traditional for my tastes, but lately, they've been including some more modern flair. My only wish would be that the items coordinated better. They felt kind of disparate. Not that everything has to be super matchy-matchy, but it would've been fun to get items that featured similar metals, for instance.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Usually, this subscription processes orders on the 1st of each month and ships on the 15th, but as of publication, the site is still advertising this February box! Hurry and order it while it lasts!

Coupon – Use coupon code WELCOME to get a bonus piece of jewelry with your first box.

Value Breakdown: At $39.99 for this box, the average value of each of the featured pieces, counting the bonus scarf would be about $10.00. The info card lists the values for the products (which are hard to find online) to be around $226.00 (not counting the bonus item), which makes the $10.00 average cost seem like a bargain!

I received a variation of the necklace from House of Harlow. It’s really pretty but after a week, the clasp broke which is unfortunate considering the high retail value of the necklace.

I love this sub. I really do. But customization would be nice. I understand Maggie’s frustration that the pictured item is not always what you get. I guess they do this, because they have already bought the inventory and selections would slow the process. For me, I would like one piece that we’re given a choice.
I tend to stay on the safe side with clothes and dress, appreciating the bold statement pieces I would never buy. I guess with all sub boxes, we have to resign ourselves somewhat to the surprise element. I actually kinda hate spoilers, because I have no self-control.

For some reason and I am new to this box but I thought we all got the same box. Is this box a variation type box? I love boxes especially with jewelry where I know what I am going to get when I buy it. If someone can answer that for me I would appreciate it. Otherwise, what is the purpose of spoilers to get excited about?

It looks like there are sometimes variations. When MSA releases spoilers, check whether it says the style or color may vary. It seems like variations occur mainly when they’re offering designer brand pieces. The March spoiler (Celtic Princess Collar) won’t have variations. I usually wait for full spoilers before deciding whether to subscribe for that month although you risk it selling out.

Maggie

I feel a little frustrated that they advertise spoilers, but then I pretty much never get the piece they post a picture on. I wish for members they would let you make choice selections like FFF. For example the Deepa bracelets this month. It would have been nice to label my preferences 1, 2, and 3. Same thing with the necklace choices. Or just select my choice and when they are out of the choice, like FFF, it is no longer available to choose and you have to pick something else. I know that I would be happier with that system. Quite frankly I have gotten some pieces recently that I would never wear, but I would have worn the one they advertised or another variation they were offering that month. I really liked Bijoux box when I first joined, but I am starting to get irritated that every month they post theses great spoilers for the box I will be getting…..only I don’t get that box at all 🤨. Anyone else feel the same? I am just saying that it would be nice to get a voice in the variations curated for my box. January’s box was a total and complete flush for me, but it didn’t have to be that way.

I totally agree with you. I’d love to pick from the different variations because there are pieces I’d love to receive and don’t get. I also received some earrings that I already own. I hope they read this post and give their members a choice

I received the Anza Pendant Necklace and matching earrings in gold. It’s different than anything I have and I’m happy to have the set. I received the bracelet in blue and it’s very nice but too big for my wrist. My mother loves it and it fits her nicely. She especially likes that it’s easy to slide on. I’m a huge fan of the Bulgarian rose Spongelle. This box was a win for me.

I got the same box and love it

I love, love, love my necklace and wore it immediately. It’s a different style as well, mine is a “desert oasis drop necklace”.

I’m still pleased with the box even though I’m not a huge fan of the bracelet, and my box was missing my earrings. Whoops.

Bijoux has such great CS though, I’m sure they will send them out.

OooOOOOooo “desert oasis drop necklace” sounds awesome, Jackie! I’m glad you’re loving it 🙂

I would love to swap for your bracelet if you do swaps. This is out of my price range at the moment or I would order.

Jackie

It’s on my swap page, profile number 21522

It’s also the only black one listed. Lol. Feel free to request!

Iris

I loved all my pieces this month. I got the smaller version of your necklace, earring jackets and a red bracelet. The quality is awesome and the pieces are so unique!

I received this necklace but my earrings were just the studs. There was no jacket part and I was a little disappointed at that. It would have been nice to receive the same color earrings/necklace. I was hoping for the black bracelet but received the blue. I did not like how loose the bracelet is. It’s so wide that I’d like to have it flush against my wrist. Overall this box was not one of my faves.

Yeah, I think the color coordination part is weirdly important to me. I end up mixing and matching most of the jewelry I wear, but the presentation just feels a little more curated when the pieces in the box all sort of relate. Bummed that you didn’t get ear jackets, Zo! Were the studs you got similar in style to the ear jackets I got or totally different? Hopefully, next month’s box will be a little more your style!!! Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

I received a different necklace and I really like it. I’m glad because I wasn’t very crazy about the one you received. I also love the bracelet, but my very favorite item are the earrings. I don’t have anything like them at all and I just love them. This was a crazy successful box for me this month.

I was hoping to get the necklace you received. Sadly I got a different style that I don’t like nearly as much!

I opted for no earrings and received another, smaller House of Harlow necklace with a peacock feather pendant. It’s cute, but not as sophisticated as I hoped.

I received the bracelet in blue and it is quite pretty!

I loved this box but would love it more if I got that necklace – mine was pretty as well but I prefer that style. I do agree with your review that it would be better if these pieces coordinated more because the materials, colors and styles are so disparate – it didn’t feel well curated but the pieces are lovely! I love the Spongelle bonus – love this product and rose is perfect for February! Thank ypu for the wonderful review.
