Honest Diapers & Wipes January 2018 Review
Honest Company Diaper Bundles are always huge since they have enough (or more than enough) for a month! Here’s all that I received in my January delivery.
If you’re not familiar with this subscription, here are the basics: You always get 6 packs of diapers and 4 packs of wipes each month. For the diapers, you can select your favorite patterns, and Honest will randomly pick for you depending on what’s available. You can swap in Overnight Diapers or Pull-Up style diapers for any of the 6 packs. You can even change the size on just some of the diapers, and you can also add on extra products for a 25% discount. Plus, they occasionally have subscriber perks, like free items you can add on! This month, I added on 1 bottle of dish soap, 1 bottle of shampoo & body wash, and a 4 count of travel-sized wipe packs.
Everything came neatly packed up in the large box seen above.
6 Packs of Honest Diapers, 4 Size 1 & 2 Size 2 – Total Retail Value $83.70. Regularly $13.95/pack ($0.63/diaper), save 22% with subscription
Cute, right?! However, I gotta say, I was a bit disappointed when I saw the prints that I received this month. They’re all adorable – there’s no question there! – but I’ve received them all before. I was hoping to get at least one of the special addition new prints that I selected in my account settings, but there is never a guarantee as to which prints you will receive out of the several that you’re able to choose from. I also didn’t receive as wide of an assortment this month as I have in previous shipments: 3 of the 4 size 1 diapers were the Space Traveling print, and both of the size 2 diaper packs were the Multi-Colored Giraffes print. Here are my thoughts on each pattern:
As mentioned above, both of my size 2 diaper packages arrived in this print. Size 2 is listed to fit 12-18 pounds, while size 1 fits 8-14 pounds. My son is currently 14.5 pounds, so he’s in between sizes but very much on his way to transitioning into the size 2s. In fact, if I didn’t have another pack of size 1s to go, he’d already be in the 2s. My baby was in size 1s from 9 pounds up until this point, but fit may vary based on how your baby’s weight is distributed. We’ve never had any significant issues with leakage with the size 1s, and I’m excited to try the slightly larger size 2s in a week or so!
The Great Adventure
This print is a collab with The Great whose founders are friends/stylists of Jessica Alba’s (Honest Company’s founder). It features a really cool camping theme complete with trees, tents, and primary colors. When I was first introduced to it in my last shipment, it totally reminded of Moonrise Kingdom. I sort of wish that I received more than one pack of this print. It’s probably my favorite!
I love the doodle illustration style of this print. It has a super child-like quality, which is, of course, fitting! There are lots of detailed elements in this one, so you can spot something new with each diaper.
Overall, I find these diapers to be absorbent, soft, and beautiful. They have a nice stretch to them and seem to fit my lil’ guy really well — we’ve only experienced a couple full-fledged blow-outs while wearing these. Also, at almost 4 months, my baby has yet to ever have developed any semblance of diaper rash. Makes me wonder if the all-natural, hypoallergenic quality of these diapers has anything to do with that.
4 pack of Honest Wipes – Retail Value $18.95 ($4.95 individually)
These wipes are the best I’ve used. They have a gentle, natural scent that’s not too overpowering and their material is just substantial enough to do a good job with clean-up. I’ve found them to be a bit thinner than other brands that I’ve tried, and I really like that for a super gentle touch.
Travel Baby Wipes 4 Pack – Retail Value $3.95
With 10 wipes per each thin pack, these are perfect for tossing into a diaper bag. Just like the larger packs, there is a peel-away seal to access the wipes in each package. I make sure to press the seal down firmly after each use so that the contents remain moist. These are truly a lifesaver for travel!
Shampoo + Body Wash, Sweet Orange Vanilla, 10 oz – Retail Value $9.95
I first tried this 2-in-1 shampoo and body wash as a sample size and loved it, so I decided to stock up. It’s sulfate and paraben free as well as tear-free — all things that are important to me when it comes to bath time. The gentle, nourishing formula is perfect on my baby’s sensitive skin. I also love that this wash is available in 4 scents, all of which sound amazing. I’ve only tried the Sweet Orange Vanilla (so good!), but you can also test it out in Dreamy Lavender (sounds perfect for bedtime baths), Apricot Kiss, or Fragrance-Free varieties. The scent is very subtly present during the bath itself, but it doesn’t stick around afterward. I really can’t stand synthetic fragrances on the skin, so this is ideal for someone like me. This formula is also pH balanced so that over-drying is never an issue.
Dish Soap, Coastal Surf, 24 oz – Retail Value $3.99
Since I’ve recently started to pump more frequently, it has resulted in more dish-cleaning throughout the day. And all of those pump parts can be tricky to scrub down! More pumping also means more bottles, and I knew that I wanted to be confident in ensuring that the soap that I choose is safe, plant-based, and gentle. This formula is all of that. I also love the naturally-derived Coastal Surf scent, but it is also available in Free & Clear and Lavender Field varieties. You may also purchase 2-packs of each bottle for $7.95.
Verdict: This The Honest Company Diapers & Wipes Bundle box is nothing short of a life-saver! It’s incredibly convenient to have a bulk order of both diapers and wipes arrive at your door, and the cute prints make it that much more exciting to receive. I also love that their prints are all unisex — nothing overtly blue/pink or covered in cutesy or ultra gendered objects.
These diapers are soft, sturdy, and secure. I love that you are able to mix and match sizes to accommodate your growing baby’s needs and choose your prints, also, for total personalization. The option to add on products like soap and detergent makes the experience really customizable. Overall, I’m so excited to continue using Honest Company products and testing their performance against different brands.
