Sephora Favorites: Give Me Some Nude Lip Kit Review

Urban Decay Vice Special Effects Long-Lasting Water-Reisistant Top Coat in Fever

Urban Decay Vice Special Effects Long-Lasting Water-Reisistant Top Coat in Fever, .16 oz (Full Size!) – Retail Value $18

This is an interesting, new product from Urban Decay! This is a sheer, pink-red with “green 3D sparkle shift.” It’s meant to be applied on top of other lipsticks and transform them. It is super shimmery and I thought it was slightly versatile, because it just made my lipstick look shimmery with a lighter application, and when I put more on it made a bold look!

Here’s what it looks like on its own. I kind of love this! I do have to say, though, that I really don’t think it dries into a waterproof top coat. Maybe it will when worn by itself, but the product description says it’s meant to set and be waterproof on top of your other lip products but I still got color on my hand when testing this claim.

Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in Sugar

Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in Sugar, .07 oz – Estimated Value $9.33 (Buy a .15 oz. full-size tube for $20)

This “pink truffle” colored gloss is pretty sheer and light but has a metallized finish. This has become my new go-to! It’s fresh and easily worn with any makeup look, and works perfectly for a grab-and-go day lip. If you’re not familiar with Buxom Lip Polishes, it’s good to know that they have a minty, cooling effect that’s meant to plump your lips. I’m not sure I really see a noticeable difference in plump, but I kinda like how the slight tingle feels.

Here’s how it looks on my lips!

Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint In Exposed

Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint In Exposed modeled

Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint In Exposed, .034 oz – Estimated Value $3.40 (Buy a .20 oz. full-size tube for $20)

Tarte’s powder blush in the shade Exposed is my all-time favorite blush ever. If I had to only wear one blush ever again, it’d be that. This lip paint is the same shade! It’s a rosy-nude that looks great on most complexions. The pigment in this is opaque and the formula dries down to a matte, non-transfer finish.

Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Pigment in Mauve Wife, .17oz – Estimated Value $15.11 (buy a .27 oz. full-size tube for $24)

This high-shine lipstick is a cool mauve pink. This formula doesn’t dry down to non-transfer but it’s a thick formula that has some good “grip” to it and didn’t smudge or wear off quickly for me. This the darkest shade in this Lip Kit. It’s great to add some boldness to your look! I also really liked the applicator. It’s similar to a classic doe-foot except one side is a little concave to hug your lip better. This also creates a slightly pointier tip that I found helpful for edges and precision.

Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo in Futurist,

Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo in Futurist, .05 oz – Estimated Value $17.78 (Buy a .09 oz. full-size tube for $32)

This is a mauve nude cream lip from Hourglass. It’s very hydrating, with ingredients like shea butter and jojoba oil! This is easy-to-wear and you probably don’t even need a mirror to throw this on for the day. The formula is very buildable and comfortable.

I was also happily surprised – this stayed on a long time before fading! Even after the moisture was gone, pigment stayed.

NARS Lipstick in Orgasm, .05 oz – Estimated Value $11.67 (Buy a .12 oz. full-size tube for $28)

Orgasm is the NARS signature color. It’s a peachy pink with shimmer, and is most famously a shade of their blushes. When applied I found it really just looked like a sheer natural shimmer. It’s subtle but does a great job brightening your look.

Here’s swatches of everything for you, in the order they were featured: Urban Decay, Buxom, Tarte, Smashbox, Hourglass, and NARS.

The Verdict: This Give Me Some Nude Lip Kit is a great set. I love that it has so much variety even though it’s all nudes. From matte, to shimmer, to cream, to non-transfer, and metallic… It gives you basic and bold, lets you have staple everyday go-tos and experiment with new looks.

Awesome!! I just ordered this and it’s due to be delivered to me tomorrow. Seeing this review just got me even more stoked for the kit! The Smashbox seems to be just okay but every other swatch is so gorgeous!!

Does the UD claim to be waterproof or transfer-proof? Because those are two very different things

So, the item description on Sephora’s site says “Available in shimmer, glitter, and metallic finishes, Urban Decay’s innovative, comfortable, gel-cream formula dries down quickly for long-lasting wear that never feels sticky. Vice Special Effects not only lasts, but also creates a water-resistant barrier that seals in the color underneath and prevents it from moving “dry down” and “seal” to “prevent the underneath color from moving,” kinda sounds like it’s meant to effectively be transfer-proof?

Great review!

Unfortunately nothing new color wise. I have a bunch of nudes and these aren’t anything different. Before I get slammed, I know I Know, there are only so many colors in the world but I have more nude lipsticks in every shade of nude than I could ever use. Somebody needs to come up with something else.
