Julep Maven is a monthly nail polish and beauty subscription box. They make all their own products, so subscribers get a good value each month – over $40 retail worth of product for $24.99 a month.

And, if you sign up for 3-months up front, you get the $19.99 rate.

Each month Julep releases a new collection on the 20th, and you can decide which items you want, you can upgrade to the entire collection, or you can skip that month.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Each box comes with a card detailing the new beauty launches:

Julep Nail Polish in Dani – Retail Value $14

This color is a high-shine mauve creme. I’m loving it because it adds color to my nails while still falling into the neutral palette.

And good to know – all Julep caps are removable so you can swatch them!

Here is this color on:

That’s full coverage with only one coat, too!

Julep Eyeliner in Sunset Gold Shimmer – Retail Value $16

If you are new to Julep’s eyeliners, I highly recommend them. The glide on so easily, the pigment and shimmer is great, and the are budge-proof once they set!

Since I have a ton of different black, brown, and blue eyeliners, it was time to mix things up a bit! This is a warm gold, with a touch of shimmer. (Swatched in lower photo.)

Julep Creme-to-Powder Eyeshadow Stick in Plum Shimmer – Retail Value $18

This eyeshadow stick is so easy to use! It has an eyeshadow crayon on one end:

And a smudger tool on the other:

The formula is super pigmented, and it dries to a powder-touch finish. But, the staying power is much better than your typical eyeshadow pressed powder! It sets and stays put just like the eyeliner.

Here it is swatched beneath the eyeliner:

Such an intense plum!

Lastly, Julep always includes a tiny extra like a piece of candy, nail stickers, etc. This month it’s a heart-shaped piece of milk chocolate. Perfect for February!

And I appreciate that Julep always includes the ingredients of any candy item, too.

Verdict: As usual, I’m happy with all my choices this month. I love my one-coat-only nail polish, and Julep’s eyeliners + eyeshadow crayons are great. This box has a retail value of $48 and I think that’s a great deal for a $24.99 box you can completely customize.

I highly recommend this subscription if you love nail polish and/or you like having control over your beauty box items! (And I also recommend doing the 3-month subscription at $19.99 a month for better savings!)

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. You have to sign up by the 20th to get the next month’s box. Then on the 24th, you’ll be able to sign into your Julep Maven account and select the items you want for your box!

  1. Hey Liz, I just got my welcome set gwp — I wanted to let you know that the set of 12 free colors shown is not the exact set that is sent. I actually really like the colors I received : Meiko, Nese, Marina, Demi, Coralle, Alonna, Jade, Ariel, Shay, Jonna, Keena, and Adrian (well not Adrian – I’m not a big yellow fan). The colors are more on-trend with bronze and grey and several shimmers. However, before I got it I received a 48-hr discount code, so I’d gone and bought more colors, assuming I was getting the exact shades shown. Now I think I ordered dupes. So I just wanted to warn everyone to be patient and wait for the welcome set before ordering more shades to avoid buying dupes. The gwp comes with a great 50% off coupon anyway!!! I’m starting to love Julep already… 😀

    • hey there! i’m thinking about subscribing to get the 12 pc set as a gift for my friend – when did you subscribe and how long did it take for the 12 pc set to get to you? thank you in advance!

    • Thank you so much for letting us know!! I wanted to sign up but wasn’t sure about the gift nail polish colors! Smile 😊 💅🏻

  2. Oh I also meant to add. The customer service is incredible. I got a polish that was yucky, running and basically washed off in the shower. I emailed and within hours had a response. They asked if I wanted that same color again or something different. I asked for something different and they sent me that same color and a different one as a gift. I must have gotten an off polish because the 2nd time around it was as wonderful as I expected.

  3. This is my favorite sub!! I am so addicted to their lipsticks. I think the formula is amazing and it Iasts a long time. I got my first bullet yesterday in Strut and it is just as wonderful as the liquid lipsticks. I always add on because they send wonderful extras if you add on 3 or more than ( think that’s right). I got an amazing blue that I would have never picked but once I swatched the lid I was sold.

  4. Dani looks so much nicer in these photos than it did on julep’s site!

After the monthly boxes shipped, I noticed a new moisturizer in stick form on their site. It’s great. Glides on really well. Will be great for traveling. I assume this will be one of their new releases next month.

  5. This month I only got my add ons and not the regular maven items I picked. I wonder if they put them in someone else’s box. I emailed them so hopefully they send them

  6. Love that color!!

  7. Instead of the box I thought I was getting this month they sent me 12 polishes! I am not a new subscriber.

    • Sometimes I think they just make mistakes. Once I was supposed to get ONE sheet of nail decals and instead I got 96 sheets of the same nail decals.

  8. I got the eye cream & a base coat this month. I planned on picking up Dani later, so I’m glad you picked it for your box! It’s a really nice color!

  9. I’ve never gotten a candy or stickers or anything…

    • The stickers are usually only if you get 3 polishes (there is a price formula for what you can add to a non-upgraded box; alternatives are two polishes and a beauty product or two beauty products).

They don’t put the candies in every month.

  10. I got that same color and am wearing it this week. It’s really pretty. I love this sub.

    • I purchased the same color, and I’m not sure if I did something wrong, but my nails have chipped already. Are you having the same problem?

  11. This is the first time I’ve really noticed this box and I’m very interested in trying it out! Are you able to choose each products color? I was just telling myself I need a new color nail polish!

    • Yes, it’s pretty great because you can choose nail polish released that month or other colors or makeup. I think you can skip a month too.

      • Thanks! I’m going to sign up!
