Bit the bullet and subscribed today. Hoping for another spoiler soon so I know I made the right decision. 🙂

Will we be getting another spoiler soon? 🙂

@HappyRebelBox

Hi Erica! Please stay tuned for another spring spoiler releasing soon 🙂

@HappyRebelBox

Good afternoon, MSA! We wanted to let everyone know that Robyn has updated the description for these earrings on her website. Hopefully the new description is a little more clear, but if anyone has any further questions, feel free to reach out to us directly. Cheers!

I dig these! I would probably never buy them myself – I like that items in sub boxes push me out of my comfort zone.

I got the mystery bummer box as well, but oh well. Their quarterly boxes are awesome!

I’ve been stalking the Happy Rebel box for awhile, and this looks very tempting. What has always stopped me from subscribing are certain boxes – like the kitchen or technology box that just don’t work for me. Is it possible to put the subscription on hold if you see spoilers that don’t work or is it best to buy one box when the spoilers look good, cancel and wait for the next box?
As for the mystery box – I abstained because I’ve been disappointed every time I bought a mystery box from any of the sites. I think it’s me, not them.

Megan

You have up until the billing date to skip a box (there is just a button you can, click) and I think usually they have had a few spoilers by then.

I love that I’m never even remotely tempted by Happy Rebel. I also find it incredibly amusing how defensive people are of HR like they’re close friends. My loyalty remains with the West Coast boxes – PSMH and RZBoS – very corporate and impersonal.

Snowhitetwin

Love the earrings….but what’s up with the mystery box fiasco everyone is mentioning?

I personally try to stay away from mystery boxes because it seems like it’s usually old, leftover stuff. A crapshoot at best.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisag1977

Just search the forums. Otherwise people will get all riled up again reliving the trauma lol

Because people got items in a mystery box they didn’t like… because after two years someone realized they add a couple of bucks to the price of the individual items in their shop and ship free… because HR was nice enough to allow people to submit wishlist requests for their boxes (NOT guaranteed), but not everyone got exactly what they put on their wishlist… and the world lost their minds.

I completely agree that HR raised everyone’s expectations by allowing the wishlist, and should have just made them true mystery boxes and they wouldn’t have had the issue. It is a risk we all take with mystery boxes. It just seems like some people are bitter because others got what they want and they didn’t. I think HR said they won’t do wishlists again, and seem like they are taking feedback.

No I loved getting three tiny kitchen prints, a box of illegible and inappropriate sayings, a box of matches and a cell phone case that nobody over the age of 6 would want. To add insult to injury was Johana’s curt response.

So yes, I am complaining which is something I seldom do. I am easy to please. Happy Rebel is nor will ever be for me again.

I will stick to FFF, Ipsy and PopSugar.

Julie

Check out the comments or the forum about it. Speaks for itself.

I love Happy Rebel and I think these are really cute. I didn’t get a mystery box (which………by definition, you can’t guarantee you’re going to be happy with) but I have subscribed since the second or so box and I like every one.

jennifer

When I saw that the theme this quarter was “Girls Trip” I was very tempted to cancel as it brought the PSMH Resort box to mind. It’s always my least favorite. I travel a lot, yet nothing in that box ever appeals to me, aside from jewelry.

Anyhow, this spoiler has kept me interested. The earrings are cute and just the type of thing I’d take with me on a trip: simple enough to go with most of my outfits, yet unique enough to not be boring.

Reply ButtonReply

Shay

These are really cute and unique (or at least I think so). I’ve never subscribed to Happy Rebel, but I might for this box. Gotta see more spoilers first though.

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

I love this spoiler – edgy and funky. I also got the sad mystery box but am certainly not ready to write happy rebel off – they have some unique, different, useful items. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve gotten minus the kitchen prints (they just weren’t my thing).

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

Not a convincing spoiler for those of us that can’t do earrings.

Reply ButtonReply

Amber

If it’s an issue where the posts irritate your ears (like me) then you can paint the posts with clear polish, and you’ll be able to wear them.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

I tried that for a bit back when my metal allergies started happening in junior high. Unfortunately, my ears just cannot handle any metal, period. Thank you for the tip though!

Lisag1977

Lol nope

Reply ButtonReply

AmyM

These are very much my style. I skipped spring due to financial reasons but i’ll be looking for these in swaps.

Reply ButtonReply

Katie

I will say, as a long time subscriber AND someone who got burned by my mystery box, Happy Rebel always delivers in terms of quality vs retail value which is why I decided to keep subbing with them. The quality of the items is much better than most of the things I have received from Popsugar or Box of Style.

The mystery box was a misstep, but I am happy to give them another shot because of their charity work, customer service, and quality items.

Reply ButtonReply

KW

I concur with Katie and zo and am happy about this spoiler item and the general travel-related theme. While I won’t likely buy another HR mystery box, I do appreciate the curation and quality of the quarterly subscription boxes and will continue to subscribe.

Reply ButtonReply

zo

Thanks, Katie, for saying what I could not articulate. I love HR. I received a mystery box and, while disappointed, I thought it was fine overall. It did not give me second thoughts at continuing my subscription.

Reply ButtonReply

Bella01

Aw Katie, That was well said. Maybe I will give a second chance too. I’m really loving those earrings and if their the same as the ones on Robyn’s site then this box is already worth it to me. Hmmm

Reply ButtonReply

Katie

I totally get people’s hesitation and frustration, but I think my Happy Rebel items have held up well with repeated use. And I like that they work directly with the artists themselves. The black lace kimono was and is my favorite sub box item ever.

Bella01

Is this Winter 2017? That’s what it says above. I’m confused now.

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

Ah! I’m so sorry. I need to work on my proofreading skills. Sorry! It has been updated to say Spring 2018.

Reply ButtonReply

Bella01

Aw Liz It’s ok. I am always getting things backwards. Just wanted to be sure. Thank you very much for clarifying Liz.

MMP

These are super cute! I no longer wish to do business with Happy Rebel, but would love to buy these directly from the artist. Hope the rest of the box is great, too, and I can support other terrific businesses by buying the box contents or similar items directly from the suppliers.

Reply ButtonReply

Kc

They burned some bridges with their mystery boxes. I got crumbled chapstick in mine. I was using it as a way to test out the company and was so disappointed.

Reply ButtonReply

@HappyRebelBox

Hi KC! I am so sorry you received a defective item in your mystery box. Please email us directly at your earliest convenience so that we can make things right for you. We look forward to hearing from you!

Bella01

Me too! and I just took a look at Robyn’s site. She has beautiful pieces if you want to purchase more items.

zo

Not sure what these have to do with a girls’ trip but they are edgy, albeit tiny, and super cute. I chose gold.

Reply ButtonReply

judy

These would be have to be 14k gold with tiny specks of diamonds to remotely make one forget the horrible mystery waste of $$ …

Reply ButtonReply

stefanie

Yea. After that atrocious mystery box i straight up p*ssed my money away on, ill never do business with HR either. It was a trail for me as i has my eye on them for a while. That sealed the deal. I may just purchase these directly from the artist.

Reply ButtonReply

amyr

I agree. I spent $50 for a box of matches and paper. Never again…..

Becca

Hi @HappyRebelBox
Thanks for your response.
Robyn’s website says “* all of our jewelry is composed of either gold filled or sterling silver chain and findings. If an item has an engaged stone, that stone has copper around it, and is electroplated with 14k gold or sterling silver.”

on the page of the “Charlie” barbed wire earrings.
This would imply that they are actually gold-filled (meaning contains some gold and don’t tarnish) or sterling silver.

Your listing says they are plated on top of pewter (an even cheaper metal than brass with zero gold or silver in plating and a high likelihood of tarnishing).

Additionally Robyn has large sterling silver sizes on her site for $24.99 or larger gold-filled gemstone earrings for less than the $56 you are advertising. I don’t see pewter anywhere else on her site so it indeed looks like a cheap collaboration, or she is now selling this cheaper model on the site so you can justify the inflated price?

I think I’ll skip the recycled pewter and go for the gold-filled myself.

nelliebelle1197

I posted this below but I will post it up top too:

All of her (Robyn’s) jewelry is dipped or plated. The people above are misreading the disclaimer on her website. I have actually talked to her and have other stuff from her. The note quoted above is on every page and the sterling silver and gold filled is in reference to to chains and components like clasps.

You can email Robyn and she will likely answer you herself.

Reply ButtonReply

Georgie

“all of our jewelry is composed of either gold filled or sterling silver chain and findings.” would imply that at least part of each jewelry item is gold filled or sterling silver, if even just the posts.

The Happy Rebel version says “They are crafted with 65% recycled pewter with 14k gold or sterling silver plating. ” which is completely different.

Again, while there are gold plated brass items on the site, they have gold-filled or sterling silver posts. And pewter is not mentioned elsewhere. Which would imply that these are not the same quality as the rest of her jewelry.

Heather

Anyone know how big these are? The website says 1/2 inch in circumference, which would be impossibly small. I think its more likely they meant 1/2 inch in thickness or maybe length, but that’s not what their site says.

Reply ButtonReply

@HappyRebelBox

Hi Heather! To clarify these earrings are 1/2″ long, and 1/4″ wide. Robyn has also updated her website to clarify the measurements. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Reply ButtonReply

CreativelySwank

Circumference in an of itself seems odd as they are not circular, but if one were to draw an imaginary circle around the design it would be an incredibly small circumference. For diameter it is perfect. If we draw an imaginary cube around the design, 1/2 in. length would be lovely, height would be awkward and width would be absurd.

Enough geometry.Either way I’ve never bought HR so I don’t have a horse in this drama race and am tired of over inflated prices on costume jewelry. These could be made in pure silver for under $10 x 3-5 for retail markup and still cheaper than costume junk metal that turns your skin green.

Reply ButtonReply

jennifer

1/2 inch would be impossibly small?
Really? 1/2 inch seems perfect to me. Large enough to support the design, but not so huge at to hurt my earlobes. Please look at a ruler. 1/2 inch in thickness would be a huge issue for me.

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

How about you look at a dictionary? It said 1/2 inch CIRCUMFERENCE, not 1/2 inch THICKNESS. It does not say the metal it is made out of is 1/2 inch in circumference, it says the earrings themselves are that size. That would mean the whole earring would be about the size of half a pea, or a less than half the size of your pinky fingernail. Maybe you should read more carefully before you go throwing shade at people to make sure you don’t end up with egg on your own face, hmm?

Amber

“Please look at a ruler” LOL I love this

Jen

I do hope there is a bag (not a clutch) in the Spring box. I had missed out on last summer’s box that had the awesome bag in it. So I had purchased 2 of the Mystery boxes and had listed the bag as an item I really wanted, but of course I didn’t get the bag. 🙁

Please, please have a bag. That’s a trip-ish item.

Reply ButtonReply

Kc

Spring box not winter right? This isn’t really anything relevant to a girls trip. Hopefully the other items aren’t a scarf and sunglasses or smthg like that. Curious to see what else they have but after the pitiful mystery box bring my first experience with HR I will likely never sub.

Reply ButtonReply

@HappyRebelBox

Hi KC! No sunglasses 🕶 No scarf🧣😊 The other items are more directly travel related, but we wanted to spoil this item first to allow members as much time as possible to submit their color selection.

Reply ButtonReply

jennifer

Those of us that require prescription lenses in our sunglasses thank you.

Jenny

These are listed for $55 on RobynRhodes site in gold fill or sterling silver. Somehow Happy Rebel has the exact same earrings in pewter and plating (aka worthless metal) for $56. I’ve about had it on the shady math of subscription boxes.
That said I do like a lot of the Robyn Rhodes styles and may just order direct. But if you’re going to do a “collab” with basically dollar store metal, please price it as such.

Thanks for clarifying NellieBelle. I chose the gold because I have so many pairs of silver earrings. She has some really cool pieces on her site, very tempting!

nelliebelle1197

Nope. I am posting this all over because I like Robyn Rhodes:

The wording on the Robyn Rhodes website is a little confusing. It says that they use gold vermeil and sterling silver “chains and findings”. I could be wrong but I think the earrings on the RR site are also plated? I really like the style of these 🙂

That’s why I canceled. I can’t seem to justify the hidden truth. I will just go buy these in sterling Silver.

Reply ButtonReply

@HappyRebelBox

Hi Jenny! We want to clarify that the earrings in our box are the same composition as the ones on Robyn Rhodes site. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Have a great evening!

Reply ButtonReply

Erica

Well, that’s disappointing

Reply ButtonReply

Christianne

I completely agree. I usually don’t complain about inflated retail values, but this is ridiculous. I would have been thrilled to received vermeil or sterling earrings, as they could be worn daily and would be a true hero item. Plated pewter means these can only be worn now and then.
