Bulu Box Weight Loss February 2018 Box

Bulu Box is a monthly fitness and weight loss subscription. The original Bulu Box is focused more on fitness and general health supplements, and they also offer a Weight Loss box that focuses more on diet products.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This review is of the Bulu Box Weight Loss, $10 a month, box.

Bulu Box Weight Loss February 2018 Review

There are box variations, and sometimes rather heavy product promotion, so you may not always get the same box as someone else or be able to make the connection to weight loss for each product:

The information cards are now generic rather than describing your items.

Bulu Box Weight Loss February 2018 Coupons

There are usually coupons (which may or may not be for items in the box), product literature, advertisements for other subscriptions, etc.

Bulu Box Weight Loss February 2018 Coffee Extract

Simple Being Nutrition Simple Diet Supplement2 capsules – Buy 60 Capsules for $24.99

These capsules contain gelatin so they are not suitable for vegetarians. I have my doubts about the efficacy of green coffee bean extract when it comes to weight loss, the primary ingredient here. This also does have a lot of antioxidants from African mango, acai, and resveratrol, and I am generally a fan of antioxidants.

Bulu Box Weight Loss February 2018 NiteClear

NiteClear Sleep Aid, 1.93 fl oz. – Buy a 12-pack for $23.88

This is basically liquid Benadryl (diphenhydramine). I had a hard time sleeping last night, so when I got up to feed Mr. Kitty at 3 AM (this is a nightly thing), I drank this, but I am not sure how much of an effect it had. It tasted pretty terrible, though, and I could not drink enough water to get the flavor out of my mouth.

This product also appeared in the regular version of Bulu Box this month.

Bulu Box Weight Loss February 2018 Shampoo

Seaweed Bath Company Moisturizing Argan Shampoo – Buy 12 oz for $12.99

Seaweed Bath Company Moisturizing Argan Conditioner – Buy 12 oz for $12.99

I have used some of this company’s bath products in the past and liked them. I didn’t know they made shampoo and conditioner though! Argan oil shampoo and conditioner generally work for my hair and these were no exception, though there wasn’t really enough conditioner in here for one use, I have long hair. Plus, these products are cruelty-free. (Please note: I lost my photo of the shampoo and conditioner received in this box – so I’ve swapped in the photo from the regular Bulu Box review. It was a different scent but the performance was the same.)

Bulu Box Weight Loss February 2018 Supplement

Synodrin Triple Action Joint Health Supplement, 42 capsules – Buy 90 Capsules for $39.99

You will sometimes receive a full size supplement with Bulu Box. Unfortunately, this one will not work for me. Although glucosamine and hyaluronic acid have some joint health benefits, hyaluronic acid is not vegetarian and the capsules also have gelatin in them. The glucosamine comes from a vegetarian source but I don’t know why they bother considering the rest of the ingredients unless they are trying to avoid shellfish-based ingredients for allergy sufferers. Please note that Bulu Box does not cater to any specific dietary restrictions.

Bulu Box Weight Loss February 2018 Synodrin

Synodrin Maximum Strength Arthritis and Muscle Pain Relief Gel, 3 oz. – Retail Value $9.97

This is meant to be used in conjunction with the supplement above. It also contains hyaluronic acid. In skincare products, this helps draw moisture and minimize the appearance of fine lines. I am not sure it’s going to do much for the joints when applied topically. This does also contain turmeric, which is anti-inflammatory, and a small amount of menthol, which can be cooling and is found in other joint rubs. I tried some of this on my shoulders and I maybe felt a little something, but most products of this sort don’t have huge effects on me (the one exception being the Tiger Balm patches).

This product also appeared in the regular version of Bulu Box this month.

Bulu Box Weight Loss February 2018 Zollipops

Zollipops4 count – Buy 25 for $5.99

These are xylitol lollipops. If you consume a bit of xylitol after a meal, especially in the form of a mint or hard candy, it can keep plaque at bay. This is not a substitute for brushing your teeth but think of it as something extra to help out. Bulu Box has sent these before and they taste fine, so I will use them. (Please keep them away from dogs and cats as xylitol is toxic to them.)

This product also appeared in the regular version of Bulu Box this month.

Verdict: There were six items in this month’s Bulu Box (weight loss version). How much value to assign to each depends on how much you paid for the box. If you paid full price, they average out to $1.67 apiece. I got in on a $5 for life deal, so the average cost per item is $0.83 for me. Other deals are possible, so your average depends on how much you paid. Some of the products were not vegetarian. To be fair, Bulu Box does not promise to provide products that fit restricted diets, which lowers the value somewhat for me. The shampoo and conditioner were nice finds and I will eat the Zollipops.

I’d strongly recommend using a coupon code when you subscribe and choosing either the regular or the weight loss box, but not both, since there is a lot of product repetition between the two. Please also note that instead of getting points you can redeem for merchandise if you review your samples, now you get sweepstakes entries, which isn’t as good of a deal (unless you are the winner…).

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, March would be your first shipment. Also, keep in mind that there are variations in the boxes, so your box might not be exactly like mine in any given month.

Coupon – Use our coupon code MYSUB599 to get your subscription at $5.99 per month, for the lifetime of the subscription!

Value Breakdown: At $10 for the box, you are paying about $1.67 per item. If you got the $5 for life deal, you’re paying about $0.83 per item.

  1. I subscribed to both original and weight loss boxes and I am very bummed that these boxes and identical. Booo! And I just learned they have removed the survey point system. I might have to reconsider this sub

    • *Almost* identical — this one had 4 lollipops and the green coffee supplement, while the other had 5 lollipops. Though I agree, not a big difference. =)

Lately they have not been so different. But that is why I usually recommend getting one and not the other.
