Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills - Retail Value $17.99
Book Summary from Amazon:
When Claudia accidentally eavesdrops on the epic breakup of Paige and Iris, the it-couple at her school, she finds herself in hot water with prickly, difficult Iris. Thrown together against their will in the class production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, along with the goofiest, cutest boy Claudia has ever known, Iris and Claudia are in for an eye-opening senior year.
Smart, funny, and thoroughly, wonderfully flawed, Claudia navigates a world of intense friendships and tentative romance in this book about expanding your horizons, allowing yourself to be vulnerable, and accepting―and loving―people for who they really are.
This is one of those books that I just couldn't get into even though I knew it was good. Do you ever find yourself in a book situation like that? I think my issue is that I'm a 33-year-old who loves YA, but sometimes contemporary YA just doesn't enthrall me because I'm not the targeted audience for it. I'm guessing 15-year-old Liz would have loved this book, and I'm going to pass it along to a younger cousin to enjoy.
Borrowers Bookmark - Estimated Value $5?
(This is an Uppercase Exclusive item.)
How cute is this bookmark notepad? It has 30 sheets that you can include with any book you lend as a friendly reminder to return!
Swoon Reads Shelfies over Selfies Pin - Estimated Value $2?
Cute pin, and if you aren't familiar with Swoon Reads, I recommend checking it out! Anyone can submit their YA manuscript and the community reads and votes on books - the most popular go on to be published! (And you get access to a lot of free books from new writers!)
Out of Print Pouch - Retail Value $12
This Harry Potter inspired pouch measures 9" x 6" and made from heavy duty canvas.
You can't go wrong with a classic Hermione quote, right? Plus I love the shimmery gold text on the black fabric.
Verdict: This box has an estimated value of about $37. The book selection wasn't a good fit for me this month, but that's going to happen with a book subscription, and I'm guessing most subscribers will love this book.
What do you think of this month's Uppercase box? Did you like the book?
