Now, on to the items!

Botanics Shine Away Ionic Clay Mask – 1 oz. Value $4

(Good to know for swapping – this has an inner foil seal.)

Word of warning when opening this mask – it isn’t your typical clay mask consistency, it’s more of a liquid and so it’s a little messier if you aren’t prepared!

But, good news, the mask dried quickly and left my skin feeling soft and smooth but not dried out after I removed it.

No. 7 Restore and Renew Serum – 5 ml Value $5.44

This serum is designed to help fight wrinkles, firming skin and lightening complexion. It’s lightly fragranced, absorbs almost instantly, and I’m happy to report that this tube is completely full!

Soap & Glory Pillow Plump Lip Gloss – 0.13 oz. Value $4.80

This lip gloss has a sheer hint of color, lots of glossy shine, and a chocolate cake flavor! I liked everything but the tingly feeling designed to plump your lips. It just annoyed me.

Here it is swatched:

Sleek MakeUP Eyeshadow Palette in When The Sun Goes Down – .08 oz Value $3.09

(Also worth mentioning, the Target site lists this palette at .64 oz, but it is actually .08 oz.) In general, I’d say to go by the picture of the Beauty Box instead of the description if you are considering buying a box. (They’ve messed up sizing info before.)

This palette features 12 shimmer and matte shades in warm browns. In general, I was very impressed with the pigment and shimmer. Fallout wasn’t too bad, either.

Here are all the shades swatched:

But there’s something I have to call out. This palette is small. Like, “What is this … A palette for ants?!” small.

Exhibit A:

If I was a kid I would be pumped to have an eyeshadow palette for my American Girl Doll, Molly, but as an adult, I’d say this palette isn’t too exciting/usable. Basically, this is just a good way to test out their formulas.

Soap & Glory Righteous Butter Body Butter – 1.69 oz. Value $2.34

This body butter is rich, hydrating, and non-greasy. It’s a bit too fragrant for me, though.

No. 7 Airbrush Away Primer – 0.33 oz. Value $6.60

(Good to know for swapping – this has an inner foil seal.)

Another No. 7 sample that is completely full! This primer felt so good on my skin and gave me a perfectly smooth finish to apply foundation. I normally don’t buy primers because I get so many in subscription boxes, but should I ever need to, I’m going to buy this one!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $26.27. That’s great for a $7 Target beauty box. Plus I love that Target did a box featuring only British brands!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, this is sold out. If you want to make sure you don’t miss out on the next Target Beauty Box, make sure to sign up for the My Subscription Addiction daily newsletter!

Value Breakdown: At $7 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Mask: $1.05
  • Serum: $1.45
  • Lip Gloss: $1.28
  • Palette: $.82
  • Body Butter: $.62
  • Primer: $1.76

  1. Have to say, kicking myself a bit for missing this one!

  2. Can I use the $5 off a $20 purchase coupon on the February box?

    • The coupon will expire by then.

      • Hmm it expires 2/4/18. I thought they usually have their boxes available by the 1st of the month. Just didn’t know if the box qualified.

        • No, they start selling the boxes the first Monday of the month. Expiration date of 2/4 means they’ll start selling the February box on 2/5.

Also, this is all actually beside the point, because this coupon is applicable towards the specified brands only, not beauty in general.

          • Juju I appreciate your help-and that was my initial question-if the coupon could be used to purchase the beauty box.

          • Well, it says right there on the coupon what it can be used for.

  3. I just discovered another Boots brand on the Walgreens site, called YourGoodSkin.

    Target doesn’t carry it.

  4. I love the size of the eye shadow palette! I’ve been using the Stowaway one I got from Popsugar for the last couple of trips!

  5. The serum smells awful. It’s way too perfumy. Ugh. Why do they do that?! The body butter is almost as bad. I wish I had known they were so incredibly fragranced cause I wouldn’t have wasted $7. I may be over sensitive as I hate perfumes too.

    • Yeah, I am surprised every time I see skincare products formulated with fragrance, because the information on the irritating properties of fragrance has been available for decades, and yet the still include it…

Along with supposedly soothing formulas with menthol, alcohol, and so on. Just shows how much cosmetic companies know.

The only thing you can do, really, is just pick products without it.

  6. Target has 20% off No7 and Botanics right now (online/Cartwheel). None of the targets near me carry botanics, so I just ordered online. I love Soap & Glory’s Vitamin C face wash and No7 Stay Perfect foundation if anyone is looking to try their other products. Walgreens does carry more No7/Soap and Glory products though.

    • I am not seeing a discount on No7, only on Botanics and Soap & Glory.

      Thanks for the recommendations!

I also saw both on Beautypedia and customer reviews that the No7 loose powder is outstanding.

  7. This might be my favorite Target box ever. The Soap & Glory is one of my all-time favorite body moisturizers, and I actually love the tiny palette. I keep a fully-stocked bag of makeup minis at my desk and that will fit right in. Plus, it’s just cuter than cute. Depending on how I like the formula, I might even swap for extras.

  8. Having tossed nearly the entire contents of the last 6 Sephora Play boxes (yes, I have since cancelled my sub) I was delighted by the quality and variety of this box. I have already bought more of the Soap and Glory butter! I check Target early in the morning, first Monday of the month and have never failed to get a beauty box. I do wish they offered a subscription!

  9. I’m sad I missed this one 🙁

  10. I actually do like how small the eyeshadow palette is! I love the colors but tend to get bored with eyeshadows quickly so this is perfect for me. The mask….whoa baby!!! So messy. I totally underestimated your comment on how liquid it was. I had it everywhere. I am pretty impressed with this box though. One of the better of the Target boxes I’ve bought.

  11. I think I’m the only one here who loves a tiny eyeshadow palette- I mean how often do you go through an eyeshadow palette? Even as teeny tiny as this guy is it will work out great for travel, and there’s a nice color selection. Amesome for all the basic b*tch looks I love to do 😉 It was a little odd about the posted sizing though- their full size palette is .31oz, so I dunno where they came up with .64😛

    • Yeah, if all my palettes were “ant size”, then maybe they would have actually fit on my dresser! 😉

      • Isnt this the idea behind the stowaway shadows from popsugar? It seemed cool and innovative then didnt it?

        • I never subscribed to Popsugar, though. 🙂

I don’t know how the Stowaway palettes are in terms of quality, but I’ve seen a lot of them on the swap site and the colors never appealed to me…

    • I love the tiny eyeshadow palette! Always thought they should be this size. My friend from high school once used a whole 3 eyeshadow compact, think it was covergirl or something. I asked her how long it took her she said a year and half of wearing it everyday! How often do we get the satisfaction of not wasting eyeshadow?

  12. Got the Best of Boots box. The scent of the Body Butter was a little too strong for me. I ended up giving it to my daughter. The lip gloss didn’t just tingle, it actually felt like it burned, so I tossed it. Enjoyed everything else though!

  13. I bought a whole sleek set at Walgreen in early December, for $15. It had a beautiful looking large, compared to this one, palette. Unfortunately it’s pretty crappy eye shadow. Definitely won’t be purchasing anymore sleek shadows.

  14. Hello all. I’m new to this site so I don’t know if this is allowed as I don’t have anything to swap. I was hoping that someone had an extra Boots box that they’d be willing to sell. Can transact through PayPal or quickpay. Will pay more than retail.

The reason I am asking is because I ordered the box and it was never delivered. It appears it was stolen. Target was great about giving me a refund but couldn’t replace because the box was sold out. I love mini things and I really wanted that pallete.

    • If you want the palette – I’m willing to swap for it. Just click my name and it should take you to my profile. I have the No. 7 Serum up there too.

Sorry to hear your box was stolen!

  15. I just ordered the Uk box just yesterday! I’ve noticed for days that they are doing a pattern with target. They release 5 every day around 2-4pm everyday and that’s how I got one finally! So it’s not sold out that’s why they said temporarily. They put them up everyday tho so keep a look out for those who still don’t have one and good luck! 🍀

  16. May I ask how we can swap? I’m waiting to get on the list, not sure why there is a waitlist. Ordered my box on Jan. 2. Still waiting to get it!

  17. The eyeshadow palette reminds me of the Stowaway palette

I love their small makeup I think it’s brilliant , less waste because we’re supposed to replace it every three months

    • I agree about the palettes. I love a new eyeshadow palette, and I do like to replace them more often. This way, you can use it up instead of tossing a mostly full palette.

  18. Yesss I was hoping you’d say something in your review about the ridiculous size of the eyeshadow palette 😂 still glad I ordered the box, but the eyeshadow probably won’t ever get used tbh I’ve got similar colors in larger, more easily accessible palettes haha. But imo I actually love the strong scent of the body butter, I put a little bit on my hands & could not stop smelling them for like an hour LOL

    • I’m obsessed with Soap & Glory scent too! 😉

  19. I usually get the Target boxes, but didn’t get this one cause it sold out so fast, but LOL Liz, I loved your comments on the palette 🙂

  20. Im so upset that this box is no longer available. I usually don’t find pallets that interest me but for some reason I really like this one and really want it. I had no idea it wD so small but I don’t care as I am only concerned about the Eyeshadow shades.

    • You can purchase the palette for $12 at target. Just click the link that Liz gave and it’ll take you straight to it.

    • I’ve got mine up on the swap site. I think you can just click my name it’ll bring you to my profile.

  21. I am still thinking what to spend my $20 on, lol. Especially since I noticed that the Walgreens site has better prices for some of the items, and a larger selection of these brands.

    • Walgreens also has much better weekly sale prices on these brands if you are willing to hold off for awhile.

    • I love Walgreen’s with their sales and reward card. Plus, if you sign up for their beauty enthusiast program, you get extra points with any beauty purchase.

      • Yep, I got some sale items from them last night, signed up for Beauty Enthusiast, and got a bag of beauty samples worth $30 as well!

        • I got an email about that bag yesterday! I can’t find it on their site to see what is included! What was in the free bag?

          • I don’t know what I will receive exactly because it says there that samples can vary, but the bag is actually still there! Click on any beauty item (or try several different ones if it doesn’t work at first), and you’ll see the link to the right of the item picture.

From the stock photo it looks like moisturizers, shampoos, conditioners, possibly cleansers, and vitamins/supplements. Oh, and toothpaste. The kind of stuff you would normally get in Target and Walmart beauty boxes (except for the supplements, which I am personally looking forward to).

        • I guess this thread got too long or something as I can’t reply to the most recent comment! Thanks for the tip, I was able to see the bag when looking at beauty items on the site. I doubt ALL those items, pictured, will be in it…but it’d be amazing if they were! It would be worth ordering off of there, opposed to using the Target coupon, for the free bag of goodies!

          • Well, $30 value is quite a lot for drugstore samples – I mean, the average Target beauty box value every month is like $13, just for comparison.

The way to reply to the latest comment, btw, is to click “reply” from your email. 🙂

  22. Oh my gosh, that palette is so cute!!! I just want to pinch it. haha.

That’s interesting about how liquidy the clay mask it. I noticed the directions on it state to shake well, and that’s exactly like a clay mask I just received today (but different brand) in my Botanic + Terre box. I thought it odd to have to shake a clay mask, but sure enough it sounded like pure liquid in there.

I’m also in the camp of those who haven’t received their boxes yet. Mine are scheduled to be delivered on the 16th. I’m looking forward to getting them, and baby-talking to the palette, “look at how cute you are!” as I pinch its corners. Okay, I’ll stop.

    • Too funny, Luna!

I did get both boxes already and this palette IS adorable. I went through my brush stash and found several small ones that worked great with the little eye shadows. 🙂

    • LOL! Best comment yet!

  23. I tried out the primer today and found that it made my skin look REALLY dry and flakey. I actually had to wash all of my makeup off of my face and start over because I couldn’t go to work looking like that. I might give it a try again in the summer when my skin isn’t so dry but this was not a win for me.

    • Me too Cortney after using that primer! My skin has never done that either! I LOVE that brand though in general and have been using it for years.

    • That’s a bummer. I still have their old “Photo Fix” primer they used to sell and it is amazing. Sorry to hear their new stuff does that because I think they discontinued Photo Fix. WHY?!

  24. I was shocked at how small the palette was, but it was the first women’s box I’ve bought in months. I like it, just have to figure out how to use the tiny palette.

  25. I am still not getting the ‘Best of Boots’ title. Can someone clarify this for me? 😀
—anyway, the palette was small, but cute. great for your purse. the soap and glory is WAY to over fragrances and not natural smelling at all. I enjoyed the rest of it too. Such a great price obvi.

    • I thought I was the only one who had no idea what the title of this box was referring to

    • Lol. Boots is a pharmacy/drugstore in the UK. I can see how it can be confusing if you didn’t know that!

      • Cracking up! Thank You! I have even been to London…but only for two days. I didn’t know the drugstore chain name. Glad I have you all 😀

    • Boots is the name of the very popular drugstore chain in England. It’s the equivalent of say Walgreens here in the US. No 7 is their popular skincare and makeup line. So “best of boots” probably is meant to represent the best of drugstore skincare/makeup. 😁

      • Walgreens acquired Boots several years ago and became Walgreens Boots Alliance. These are all brands that they own.

    • oops. *too and *fragranced

  26. This may be one of my favorite reviews, thanks for the laughs!

  27. Love the Zoolander reference Liz!

    • 🙂

  28. I was laughing when I saw the eyeshadow palette–I sure wasn’t expecting it to be so teeny! But the colors are nice and I will try to fit a brush in there LOL

I agree about the lotion’s scent–bit too heavy–but everything is really nice overall and the value is definitely there.

    • Haha it is sooo small! I thought a picture of it in hand was necessary 🙂

    • I didn’t even notice the body butter had a scent lol. I liked it though.

  29. Does anyone know if the pallet will come in different shades or are they all “when the sun goes down”?

My box has not arrived yet either because of the snow storms so I’m curious to see if they’re different pallets being shipped out 🙂

    • So far everyone seems to be getting that color set

  30. I live in Virginia. I ordered both boxes Jan 2nd. Both were expected 1/9. I received one yesterday and the other box now says expected delivery 1/16. The box I did receive was awesome! Looking forward to the other one.

    • Good to know it wasn’t just me! It was very confusing to me when only one box showed up in the mail when they were both expected at the same time. The other showed up two days later. Very odd. I’d say you’ll get it well before the 16th.

  31. I was able to order both boxes and have received both. I LOVE the body butter! It kinda smells like baby lotion, to me. It left my skin feeling so soft! The scent lingers too, which is a bonus to me. So far, about 3 hours and its now fading. I am thrilled with these items and hope Target puts more out like these two, this month!

  32. For me, the primer and serum were both too fragrant! No way I could leave them on my face all day-passing them on to my mother.
I was, however, thrilled with the palette! How perfect to have a spectrum of shades in a tiny compact for travel! LOVE. Of note: the white shimmer shadow went all over my face. 😕 Not my favorite. Oh well.

  33. I haven’t bought a Target box in months, BUT I bought both this month. I am very pleased with this box; defiantly their best ever! The little eye palette is great for travel! Range of useable colors and who cares if it breaks. Love the gloss and the body cream too. So, so, so happy to see Target step up their game!

    • I agree! I’ve got two international trips coming up and the eye palette is perfect!

  34. I really liked this box. The lip gloss definitely has a tingly feeling that I guess is suppose to plump your lips. I didn’t notice much plumping though. It’s super moisturizing and stays put especially well for a gloss so I like it. The primer is a keeper too. I haven’t tried the body cream yet but if it’s too fragrant I’ll just use it for a foot cream.

  35. I ordered on Jan 2nd, they shipped on Jan 5th using UPS Mail Innovations and the UPS site says it will be delivered on the 13th. When I checked a couple days ago it said the 15th due to snowstorms delaying delivery. I live in the south near the Gulf of Mexico so the storm delays must have been due to where it shipped from. It’s been frustrating seeing how many people already have theirs. I wonder if they shipped all of them using UPS Mail Innovations?

I haven’t ordered one of these boxes in a long time and after this I may not order one again. I ordered this time because the contents actually seemed worth it this time

    • Mine hasn’t arrived yet either! Glad it’s not just me. It’s supposed to show up on Monday! I’ve never had a Target box take such a long time to arrive. It has to be snow storms on the east coast since I live in Texas. I’m super excited to try everything in this box though!

      • I haven’t gotten mine in Texas either! This review makes me excited about it.

        • I’m in Texas and got my box on Monday. It’s a nice box, but it’s mostly going into my women’s shelter box. I’m not sure why I got in the first place, I’m drowning in beauty items.

      • When I ordered the Man and Woman box in December, they came separately. The Man box was accidentally shipped to California…(I live in Chicago and the shipping center is 30-40 miles away from Chicago). Mistake on their part i guess.

      • Still waiting in Texas also. Most shipments go through Dallas then Houston and then head here in two more days. Pretty sure the tiny states have as many processing facilities as Texas! I ordered both variations. Apparently $7 is the breaking point at which I’ll buy almost anything!!

    • I ordered both boxes early the morning they went up for sale and they were both shipped (separately) about 24 hours ago….days after people were already receiving theirs. I was beginning to worry they were going to cancel my order! Not sure what’s up…

    • I live in Michigan. Mine is due to be delivered January 13. It’s free delivery. It’s an inexpensive beauty box. Dont sweat when it arrives.

I read a 28 year old woman’s obituary recently. She learned she had months to live, and tried to life life to the fullest. She said she wished people wouldn’t sweat the small stuff. I’m trying to take her wishes into account in my life. This is really small stuff.

      • I totally understand and agree with your point and support your view on life. My boyfriend of 15 years passed away suddenly when I was 34. It has completely put things into perspective and one of my biggest pet peeves now is when people exaggerate that things are a “crisis” or they are “devastated.” But (unfortunately for my bank account) I’ve found sub boxes offer a little bit of escape from the day to day grind and are like (not so) surprise gifts to myself in the mail. So I can understand how having them delayed (or orders cancelled in other cases) can be disappointing…but, to your point, definitely not a crisis. 😉

      • I’m not looking at my box not being here yet as a crisis and am not devastated over it. I’m annoyed at Target because they used UPS Mail Innovations. I was the sole caregiver for my Mom for years until she died because we had no other family or friends to lean on for support. So in the grand scheme of things a beauty box taking longer to get here isn’t a big deal I agree. It doesn’t mean I can’t be somewhat annoyed though.

        • Just so you know (I’d hate to think you misunderstood what I was getting at and took it personally), I didn’t bring up “crisis” and “devastated” implying that YOU were acting that way. I was agreeing that you can be annoyed at a delayed box and still understand it’s NOT the end of the world or the same as a crisis…

      • I live in Michigan too and mine is due the 13th. I don’t really care how long shipping takes. I am use to getting Ipsy at end of month when it comes it comes.

    • I hear you, it can be aggravating. I ordered mine on the 2nd, and it’s due to arrive on the 12th. I tracked, and they’re sent out from their distribution center in Illinois, which spent the holidays inundated by snow. Unfortunately, in winter, the weather can play a huge factor in when you receive a shipped item.

  36. This was the best Target Beauty Box I’ve ever purchased. Great to try these new brands, and they were all winners in my book!

    • I feel the same way.
