Scentbird is a cologne subscription for women and men where you choose one fragrance per month. They offer a variety of authentic designer scents and allow you to narrow down by either traditional categories for notes (e.g., citrusy, woodsy, spicy, etc.) or more general descriptive terms (e.g., casual, workout, going out). Subscribers also receive a monthly discount code that can be used on full-size bottles of perfume or cologne from the Scentbird shop.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

ScentBird December 2017

Scentbird always sends a preview card that features the following month’s feature fragrance – For January 2018, the featured scent is Cannabis by Malin+Goetz. The scent’s notes are spicy herbs with fresh coffee notes with a hint of lingering smokiness. I don’t think I’d normally buy this off the name but I’m quite curious to test this scent, so I may add it to my queue in the upcoming months!

Now let’s take a look at the scent  I chose to receive for December!

ScentBird December 2017

ICED by Hugo Boss, 8ml – Estimated Value $5.63 (buy a 2.5 oz bottle for $52, found here for $26.45)

This cologne is described as a combination of juniper, citrus, and mint which is a perfect “beginning of winter” scent, as it’s fresh and cold, reminding me of the winter’s air. The scent itself is a little more citrusy than I’d normally like, but the mint calms it a bit, creating overall a great fresh cologne that’ll turn heads! If you’re into more fresh scents, this Hugo Boss cologne is for you.

Verdict: I continue to be impressed with Scentbird and the service they provide. I tend to get bored with my colognes over time, so this service is a great way for me to test scents I wouldn’t normally buy in the store. I tend to always pick a less expensive cologne every month, so the value received is a little more than a third of the subscription cost. This doesn’t bother me as I’m quite happy with the scent and happy to expand my cologne collection.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Scentbird sends what you ask them to, so your scent will be completely different from mine. First-time orders will ship a few days after the order is placed.

  1. These jokers ship orders the cheapest way they can. Their customer service even explained that they can’t handle their growth. Think about this. They take 13-14 days to mail a 1.7 ounce order that cost them a postage stamp! They throw your order into a thin bubble wrap that obviously does not do the job. I found a much better, nicer, and more reliable company called Debonair Scent!
