Pinup in a Pack December 2017 Review

The invoice has contact info if I have any questions on my box and shows me as a reoccurring order. It is a pretty standard invoice.

Large Sequin Poinsettia Brooch/Pin (Retail Price Unavailable, similar on eBay)

Oh man! I sadly received this box after the holidays, so I did not get to wear this sassy number! To Pinup in a Packs credit, they were diligent in trying to help me resolve my account issue as promptly as possible, but the box still got here after Christmas! Here’s to holiday season 2018, am I right? This is perfect for any Kitschmas/Ugly Sweater ensemble! I typically don’t wear flowers in my hair, but I simply had to pair it with my treasured Divine Holiday sweater. It has glitter, sequins, and is gigantic! Why be somber during the holidays? It is the time of year that one should be draped in tinsel and holiday lights, so I approve of this piece. Plus, it can be worn as a barrette or a brooch which adds to its versatility. Double the kitsch, double the pleasure!

Yellow Topaz Brooch (Retail Price Unavailable, similar found on eBay)

When I was a young girl, I was incredibly bitter that November’s birth month was yellow topaz. Why couldn’t we have an opal or ruby for goodness sake? Now, that I am older I love yellow topaz pieces, so go figure! This brooch’s faux topaz stones are a lovely a golden autumn sunset shade. The style is a tad on the matronly side, but I still appreciate this piece due to the unique topaz stones. In addition, it pairs fantastically with the scarf included in this box. I styled both pieces with my mustard yellow, crushed velvet dress for a warm winter look. This brooch will bring warmth to any jacket, blazer, or cardigan. You can also use it as a scarf clip if you like as well.

Red Tulip Retro Scarf (Retail Price Unavailable, similar found on eBay)

The warm red and gold shades on this scarf make me think of fall more so than winter. The scarf print isn’t necessarily my style, but I like how big it is. I have a big head, so I need a big scarf to cover it. I styled the scarf tied around my head because it made me think of old Hollywood. My version of old Hollywood though, maybe more like Pee Wee Herman in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure riding along with Jimmy Smitts in an old Cadillac convertible. You be the judge!

This scarf will pair amazingly with a striped dress, blazer, and booties for a great office look as well as jeans, a boat neck shirt, and low top Converse sneakers for a relaxed springtime ensemble.

Verdict: This box was not my favorite, but I still appreciate the selections made. I felt the pin and scarf were charming, but they were more out of date than retro- cool. I liked the pin more than the scarf out of the two pieces. My favorite item hands-down was the over the top poinsettia brooch/barrette. The only negative was that I received it after all my holiday hijinks due to the issues with my card and account. I appreciate all the work Pinup in a Pack did to help resolve the issue, though. Their customer service truly cannot be beat.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, the December box is not available, but you can find similar pieces at Pinup in a Pack. Also, you can sign up for the January box now!

Value Breakdown:  This box is $19.99 and that includes free shipping. Three items are included in each box making their estimated value around $6.66 each. I found a similar poinsettia barrette on eBay for $18 which would mean the two other pieces plus shipping and handling would make up the remaining $1.99.

December birthday here. I think they ran out of “good” gems when they got to the end of the year. All my friends had glittery birthstones, and December’s? It’s TURQUIOSE! It’s not even a gem!!

Thankfully since then tanzanite — which is actually my favorite — has been added as December’s stone.

Ahhh, the crises one deals with as a kid….

I got garnet which I hated. My sister and brother got aquamarine and peridot which looked amazing together. I always felt like my stone ruined it for my mom. 😂

Awwwwwe Melissa! hahaha. I kind of think red looks amazing next to blues and greens! Though, I get what you mean. Both my brother and I are November babies, so my mom didn’t have to worry about getting various stones. hahaha
