Macy’s has a new beauty subscription box! Every month, they send you deluxe product samples, a bonus item, and a collectible cosmetics bag. Plus, you also get a $5 beauty coupon for use in-store and online.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Macy’s Beauty Box

The Cost: $15 a month + free shipping

The Products: Each month you will receive five deluxe beauty samples, one bonus item, a collectible cosmetics bag and a $5 beauty coupon exclusively for Beauty Box subscribers, available for use online and in-store.

Ships to: the 48 contiguous United States. The Macy's Beauty Box cannot be shipped to PO Boxes, APO/FPO/GPO address, Hawaii, Alaska or U.S. Territories at this time.

Check out more beauty subscription boxes in the Women's Subscription Box Directory!

Keep Track of Your Subscriptions: Add this box to your subscription list or wishlist!

Each box comes with a fold-out card detailing the items included:

You'll also receive a $5 off coupon, which is good for beauty purchases in-store and online.

And just like Ipsy, with each box you'll receive a new makeup bag:

This one has lipstick kisses throughout - very cute and good timing for Valentine's Day!

Now, on to the items!

Philosophy Pure Grace Body Lotion - 1 oz Value $2.44

To me, this is less of a lotion, and more of a perfume with a side of hydration - it is very fragrant! The formula itself is very light, but the scent was too strong for me.

AHAVA Deadsea Water Mineral Hand Cream in Sea Kissed - 1.3 oz Value $9.18

This scent, however, was light, and I'm a fan! And this hand cream is a beauty cult classic for a reason. The formula is super hydrating, but it somehow still absorbs almost immediately – no greasiness!

Smashbox Cosmetics Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in Bawse – Size? Value $12?

(No size listed on this sample, but it’s a decent size, and I’m estimating it’s about half the size of the full-size version.)

I like the formula of this liquid lipstick (matte finish, excellent pigment, long-lasting), and this red is cool-toned (my kind of red)!

Clinique + Jonathan Adler: Pop Lip Colour + Primer in Nude Pop - FULL SIZE? Value Listed $18.50

There's no size info on this lipstick, and the packaging is different than their retail version, but it seems like it is full-size to me. (I'm using the price listed on the card.)

The formula is creamy and super moisturizing. And the color is super wearable for me, too. Here it is swatched beneath the Smashbox:

Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash - 1 oz Value $7.20

This face wash is creamy, frothy, and refreshing thanks to the subtle mint scent. It helped get my skin squeaky clean without drying it out, too!

Michael Kors Sexy Ruby Perfume - 1.5 ml Value $3.30

And each Macy's box includes a perfume sample. This is a warm floral scent with notes of Raspberry, Apricot, and Indian Jasmine Sambac.

Verdict: This box has an estimated value of about $52.62 (not counting the makeup bag.) I think that's a great value for a $15 beauty box, and the Clinique lipstick, Origins cleanser, Ahava hand cream makes this bag a win for me. (And the bag itself is cute!)

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Possibly. The waitlist is now open, but I can't find any way to tell on the site if your subscription would start with the January or February box.

Coupon –  None available for this subscription.

Value Breakdown: At $15 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Philosophy: $.70
  • Ahava: $2.61
  • Smashbox:$3.42
  • Clinique: $5.27
  • Origins: $2.o5
  • Perfume: $.94
  • Makeup Bag - not counted toward value

Suzanne

I just signed up! I want that 💋👄💋👄💋 bag and I love Ahava!!! Fingers crossed for the January bag!!

Sandy

I’ve been waiting since signing up earlier this month and my card hasn’t been charged so I am guessing it was too late for January. At least for me. Boo 🙁

Suzanne

Hey Sandy-I signed up on Jan. 13 and didn’t realize it was also too late to get the Jan box. Then I wanted to cancel (I just wanted that bag!!) and that had to have been done by the 10th! Haha
Here’s to a great Feb box!!

Rosemary

The minute I unsubscribe this improve greatly! 🙁 If any one ends up not wanting their December and/or January boxes, I’d love to buy both.

JuJu

Anyway, I no longer have the December bag (I mean the actual bag – I do still have the contents), but I seriously have like a few dozen other unused makeup bags. The January bag I have intact.

Thanks! Just sent you an email 🙂

JuJu

I’ve been trying to reply about this, but they aren’t letting me post my email address.

Sandy

That’s too bad! I would definitely buy someone’s box that they didn’t want!

JuJu

FYI, guys, Macy’s has a Clinique Discovery Kit online for $15, which I think is a great value for what you get (especially if you still have an unused coupon). Plus it’s like your own little beauty box. 🙂

JuJu

And if you buy it, you get a $10 credit towards your next Clinique purchase!

Rae

Thanks for the head’s up. I took advantage of the promotion with my unused coupon from the December 2017 Macy’s Beauty Box. I would never have known if I hadn’t read your posting. Thanks again.

Nan

I saw that, too. It’s a great deal.

Dena

It is so nice to get a sub that I actually use every item. And I get a beautiful bag also. Macy’s, you are the only monthly sub I have now and I couldn’t love you more.

I gave up Macy’s to try BeautyFix- but I thought the Macy’s box was great! I found a couple new items that I repurchased and never had a problem using my coupons.

Good review-Thks!

Just a heads up that they have accidentally sent out the November box to some customers (like myself). I contacted customer service and was told I would still be receiving the January box and to keep the November box. I received an email the next day with a new tracking number. Hopefully it arrives because this box is so much better than the November box. I would have rather have received double of this box instead!

I thought it was a great box, the bag is so cute, puts Ipsy bags to shame in my opinion. I use my discount card every month and have never ever had an issue. Sorry others are. I also heard you can use online and in store so it’s really $10 if you want it to be. I haven’t tried this though.

Wendy

FYI they sell these in the store.

katie

Thanks, good to know. I need to give CC a rest.

Emilia

This is a very good box! No cheap or filler items.

Elena

Clinique lipstick color is gorgeous! Finally the ideal nude for pale girls.

Nan

I think this month’s bag is really cute too. Perfect for Valentine’s Day, which isn’t far away. I also liked that the bag’s a different shape than the usual rectangle.

I subscribed on 12/26, then impulsively decided to cancel on 1/5 when I booked a trip in a small attempt to save some money for it, plus I hadn’t been charged yet. I then re-subscribed the next day on 1/6 due to cancellation remorse (haha), but I still haven’t been charged. Based on their FAQs, the January box charges occurred from 1/1 to 1/8. Even though I was technically subscribed during that time frame (minus <24 hours), I guess my finicky-ness somehow caused me to miss out on January's box. 🙁 Well, hopefully February's will be good too!

I subscribed end of December? or very early Jan. Never charged nor have I received a bag. I called CS today and it showed I never subscribed…..I decided to not push it and did not resubscribe today. I have tons of product and will give my CC a rest. So maybe there was a glitch in their system and our subscribing didn’t take. ??

The Macy’s customer service page says if you signed up Dec.16 — Jan. 15 your first box will be February. I signed up Dec. 24 and was hoping to get January but I guess I’ll have to wait til February :/ Explains why I wasn’t charged yet though.

Bonnie

Truthfully, I had so many issues when I first signed up just getting them to charge my card and send my box. And I signed up the first day it was announced. It took them until the third bag to get me subscribed, where I was actually paying and receiving my bag. No problems since.

Noelle L

Weird. I looked now on my Macy’s account and it says Subscribed. Wow, yesterday CS said I wasn’t. AND I don’t see a charge for it. I guess I’ll sit back and see what the subscription Gods deliver. Either way, I’m cool.

Kristen

That’s interesting. I also subscribed at the end of December but haven’t been charged. I didn’t call but when I login it shows that I am subscribed – maybe I need to call.

Cristina

Wasn’t there still a wait list on during that time? Maybe that’s why your subscriptions didn’t take…

Chrissy

I did same in signing up. There’s a chart on Macy’s page that shows when you sign up what bag you’ll get. When spoilers came out it was past the dates to get January. I think I found it in FAQ “where’s my box”.

JuJu

You want mine? I can’t say that I really need anything in it.

Reply ButtonReply

SandyJ

Are you selling yours? I signed up this month but I think they may start me with a February bag…I wish they included that information in the confirmation email.

Luna

haha, you & me both. 🙂 I never need any of the stuff sub boxes send, but it’s still fun to get & try new things. I’m not too tore up about missing out on this month’s box. Definitely nice products, but nothing I don’t already have plenty of. Having said that, I’m still looking forward to hopefully getting February’s box!

Sherox

My first Macy’s box. I was pleased.

MOI

I tried using the coupon that comes with the box last month online. What a nightmare. Did not work, then customer service rep could not get it right. Overcharged me twice, charged me shipping. I spoke to 5 different customer service reps, and the last one was supposed to give me a credit refund for the overcharges. Instead she gave me plenti points. Waiting to hear from the American management (customer reps are in a foreign country). Otherwise I’ll challenge all the charges on my credit card. Very stressful. If the coupon doesn’t work then the box isn’t worth the cost.

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

I’ve seen complaints from a few others about the coupons as well, but I don’t know, they’ve always worked for me without any issues.

Reply ButtonReply

Jess M

I’ve been getting the box since the sub started and have never had an issue with using the coupons either.

MICHELLE

This is a nice box of great products from great brands. But the smash box and Tom ford items are the only new ones for me, assuming I haven’t tried these specific items and forgotten.

Reply ButtonReply

Emmy

No Tom Ford in this box? Macy’s doesn’t even seem to carry anything but Tom Ford fragrances…

Reply ButtonReply

Marie

Love the box. Thanks for the awesome review!

Reply ButtonReply

Sharon in SE TX

I loved it too. This was my first Macy’s Box.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

This looks like a great box! FYI – I just went to the website, and it let me subscribe!

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

Thanks for letting us know! I’ll update the post! 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

I don’t think the value is accurate for the Origins. The normal size is 5oz and goes for $23. That would make the 1oz worth $4.60.

That lipstick color is pretty! But overall I’m glad I cancelled this one.

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

I based the value off the 1.7 oz size that retails for $12. (I always try to use the smallest available size available for purchase for consistency.) Hope that makes sense!

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

Then the value should be $7.06 🙂

Bella01

This is a great box. I love the colors of the lipsticks too
