Now, on to the items!

Sunday Riley C.E.O. Rapid Flash Brightening Serum – FULL SIZE! Value $85

(All subscribers will receive this item.)

I still can’t believe we got full-sized Sunday Riley in this box! This serum is designed to “fight the look of dullness, dark spots, and discolorations, while instantly increasing brightness, radiance, and luminosity.” The cream formula has a light citrus scent (which I love), and it instantly helped give my skin a boost of hydration.

I’ve been using this serum day and night since I received it in the Limited Edition GlossyBox, and I’m pretty sure I’m seeing results with discoloration – my skin appears to be overall more even-toned!

THE ONE by Frederic Fekkai One and Then Some Dry Texturizing Spray – 15 ml Value $2.17

(Subscribers will either receive this item or THE ONE by Frederic Fekkai One More Day Dry Shampoo.)

This hair product is designed to add texture and volume to your hair, and it has the added bonus of smelling heavenly! It gave my hair volume and texture just as promised – I think this is the perfect item to keep in your purse when your hair needs a little volume boost!

Make Up For Ever Artist Liquid Matte Lipstick in Rosewood – 1 ml Value $8

(All subscribers will receive this item.)

This is a highly-pigmented, long-lasting liquid lipstick with a matte finish.

The color is a neutral mauve – very subtly pink. I think I finally found my “nude” lip color!

(Swatched in lower photo.)

Rodial Smokey Eye Pen in Brown – FULL SIZE! Value $21

(Subscribers will either receive this item or Rodial Smokey Eye Pen in Black, Beauty For Real I-Line 24/7 Eyeliner in Whiskey, Grande Bat Your Lashes Mascara, or PopBeauty Kajal Pen in Inky Purple.)

This kohl eyeliner glides on with high-pigment and a creamy finish. You can easily smudge it, too, for a smokey eye look. (But that means it isn’t budge-proof!)

Here it is swatched beneath the liquid lip:

ThisWorks In Transit Camera Close-up – 15 ml Value $20

(Subscribers will either receive this item or Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, Milani Make It Dewy Setting Spray, Red Flower Icelandic Moonflower Moisturizing Body Lotion, Noxidoxi Pollution Blocker Face Mist, or LXMI Creme du Nil Pore-Refining Moisture Veil.)

This product is designed to be a primer, mask, and moisturizer in one. I like the idea of combining the moisturizer and primer step in my morning routine and I LOVE the scent! This is perfect for dry air/cold weather months!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $136.17! This might be their best beauty box yet! Great brands, great sizes, great value! (And I think this box is worth it alone just for the full-size Sunday Riley!)

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Probably not. Their website is showing the January box still, but saying if it’s sold out when you sign up your first box will be the February box.

Coupon: Use this link to save $5 and get a free mystery beauty item with your first box! (Mystery item may ship separately.)

Value Breakdown: At $15 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Sunday Riley: $9.36
  • Texture Spray: $.24
  • Liquid Lip: $.88
  • Eyeliner: $2.31
  • This Works: $2.20

  1. My box arrived rock solid frozen. Not sure about thestability of the items

    • Gosh, I’m so sorry you had frozen products. Incredibly, the same thing happened today with a shipment of pears from Fruit Of the Month Club, from Oregon.

Our pups gave me the year’s worth of fruit as a kind of gag gift for Christmas, based on one of my and DH’s favorite ” Everybody Loves Raymond” episodes involving same fruit and Ray’s parents. The shipments aren’t cut rate price, and should be shipper quicker in very cold weather conditions.

We have had really mild temps. here so the damage occurred in shipping, like yours, I’d think.
I don’t believe there’s any way to ” fix” frozen cosmetic products… or fresh fruit..

  2. I’m so excited about this box! I love trying anything antiaging! I don’t know why people are so uptight about what they get in sub boxes. Here’s the thing, you are going to get a bunch of pretty random things at a greatly discounted price. If you don’t like the allure of a “grab bag” or “mystery bag” then subs aren’t for you!! Cancel it! Go to Ulta and buy something you really want at ULTA and quit complaining.

    • 👍👍 lets “unpetty” ourselves in 2018!!! 😘

  3. I’ve been a member for 2.5 years, so I’ll be pretty unhappy if I get anything other than this version of the box, especially since I see new subscribers getting it and some of the alternate items are things that we’ve received in boxes multiple times over the years.
I haven’t received any box yet at all; repeat December or January box. I’ve never contacted customer service about my boxes before, but I probably will if I get a different box than the main one.

  4. Quite a few snarky/negative/etc. comments on this post as well as countless others… you should feel privileged to be able to get things like this. There, I said it. Some people can’t afford these subs at all. If you have a problem with a sub company, contact them. If they don’t respond or you’re not satisfied with their response, or if they won’t replace a damaged/broken product (or give you the run around), screenshot all of this and contact your debit/credit card company for further action. I’m neither defending Allure nor being negative about Allure. In fact, this goes for every single sub out there. This will be my first Allure box, but certainly not the first sub box I’ve received in my short time in the “sub world.” I received my shipping/tracking noticed via both an e-mail I sent to CS and via their automated notice that it has been shipped. I received that notice on Monday. I should hopefully get it this week. I probably don’t plan on renewing this sub as I have four other ones, but I wanted to try this sub once. Perhaps, I’ll come back to this sub again. I just like the diversity in how many subs are out there now, so that you can always choose something else if you don’t like it. 🙂 Just my two cents, anyway. Have a great week!

    • Just because you can afford something that other people can’t afford doesn’t mean you lose your “privilege” to criticize it.

  5. Has anyone who received their Sunday Riley C.E.O. Rapid Flash Brightening Serum read the back of the bottle? I have concerns about the part that mentions that an ingredient in this is illegal in Japan because it’s used as a drug. And it’s considered a drug at 3% in Japan and this bottle contains 15%. I had a difficult time finding a picture of the back of the bottle online. Even Amazon only showed the front. Weird. Liz included a picture of the back and if you scroll in it’s towards the bottom. So something to be aware of and research. It may be nothing.

    • Regarding the ingredient THD Ascorbate 15% and a concern about the statement that this is a ” quasi- drug” in Japan ( it does NOT say ” drug in Japan but quasi-drug).
The reference is clearly to the percentage of the active ingredient- the form of Ascorbate ( a derivative of Ascorbic Acid or pure Vitamin C as it exists in nature).

In Japan, the usual limit is 3%. Every country sets its own standards for safe over the counter ingredients which are ” active ingredients”.
In some countries, Retin- A and other brand names of the same topical for acne ( and sometimes aging) is sold OTC in the Cosmetics Dept. as a cosmetic.

For most people, Vitamin C is going to be safe as it is sold in the Sunday Riley serum.
There are precautions to take: 1) Keep the pump top turned to the off position when not in use. AIR is a degrading factor for Ascorbic Acid and its esters and derivatives. 2) Store the bottle in the box to keep light out. Again, light is a degrading factor for most Ascorbic Acid type topicals.
      3) Follow the CEO Serum with a non- irritating, non acidic or glycolic moisturizer. Vitamin C can be very drying for some people. Also, I do not know about this particular new ester, but Ascorbic Acid ( the original and pure Vitamin C) is unstable in solution ( as noted with the light and heat comments above) and will evaporate quickly from the skin. Following it with a moisturizing preparation with no competing ingredients helps seal in the CEO Serum. Hyaluronic Acid serums are very good to use afterwards.
      4) Sunlight. Ascorbic Acid makes most skin more photo- sensitive ( sensitive to light). So, while the effect desired might be lightening of a dark spot or two, the sunlight can react very badly with Ascorbic Acid and its ” relatives”.
Wear a very good quality sunscreen during the daytime and make sure to reapply as per the directions.

I can’t tell you why Japan does anything, or any other country ( most likely) but the best test of how the CEO Brightening Serum works for you is to use it and see, with the guidelines I have posted: Keep it closed when not in use, keep it out of sunlight and extreme temperatures, use a moisturizer over it to get the best effects, and use a sunscreen.

I have extremely sensitive skin and the CEO serum has been very neutral on my skin as far as any irritation. The pH is neutral for human skin, which is great for a Vitamin C type product. It is 5.6 as I just now tested mine.

      • Mand G.— Thank you for taking the time to post all that good information!

      • Thank you for th ph information

        • You’re both very welcome.

      • I have rosacea and the serum did aggravate it a bit.

But boy, my cheeks are nice and smooth. I topped it with the Clinique moisturizer, which is the mildest one I own.

  6. Has anyone received theirs yet? I signed up the beginning of the month and haven’t gotten any tracking info, is this normal for them?

    • I got charged around the first week. And got my first shipping notification yesterday!

    • I received mine yesterday. I guess due to the delay some people were receiving two boxes.

    • I subbed in December so I was guaranteed to get this. Received the Dec box within 20 days of card being charged. They charged me on Jan. 5 and I still have no tracking info & no box.

    • I received mine yesterday. I got the same items reviewed. LOVE!!!

    • I just called them because I haven’t received anything and my account was charged on 1-8. When I went to my allure account it said my order date was 1-19. I was told they are running behind and some may be sent as late as next week. My box has never been this late! I am excited to get it and will just calm down now that I know it will be on the way soon.

In Dec. I was missing 2 items from my box and called to ask about it. I have already received those. They have great customer service if you call!

  7. I’ve been a subscriber for about a year now and have always been pleased with allue – so much that I canceled everything else except beautyfix.

I’m probably in the minority of people here who aren’t excited about the sunday riley, but happy to try it and love that allure sends an expensive full size product. I’m really just hoping I get the This works product. Fell in love with their sleep spray and repurchased many times and have used their stress rollerball, so just hoping I get that. We’ll see, I just got my shipping notification today. But I try not to get too judgmental about products I receive and others receive and cancel if I don’t like what I’m getting.

    • Well, just received my box and did not get the This Works. I got the red flower lotion instead which I’ve sampled it before and it is certainly better than another smashbox primer. Overall, quite happy. The mauve lip color works for me, a brown eyeliner finally and haven’t tried any products by Frederic Fekkai before so mostly new stuff. Just wished the info book would have info on the product I actually received, maybe it was an afterthought and too late to change, but kinda weird reading about the product I didn’t get!

  8. My box arrived this evening. I’ve been subscribed for 6 months. I received the advertised items.

  9. Would anyone possibly want my Bauble Bar Allure code for their PSMH Pier One code?
I just got a new Bauble Bar code in the second December box I received today, and as long as it took me to find ONE thing not on sale or a part of their ” essential line” which they exempt from discounts, I really can’t see me using a second one.

Email at txlilobits at g mail com if you want to trade codes.

    • You can use it to get the earring back so you can wear heavier studs/pendants.. that’s what I used my code for

      • I don’t want any more Bauble Bar items. Thanks, though, and I’m glad you found something that is helpful for your ears. I have very long thick hair and usually skip earrings. They don’t show, LOL.

  10. I got my Black Friday bonus Allure Thrills box today (or, as my husband calls it “more crap.” …. not because the products are crap but because my stash is at an all time high right now and I’m overflowing into different rooms of the house!)

I got the May 2017 box. It’s a good box. Nothing exciting but worth it because of the Hask shampoo (which I was going to buy more of) and the Redken hairspray which I really like. The other items aren’t super exciting but are definitely usable (except the press on nails…will be giving those away).

  11. Hey, who here besides me just got another December box?

I’ve alerted Allure Beauty Box, but I am NOT HAPPY.

    • Me too. I called and the rep said they were sending the January box and I can keep the extra December box. She said Allure was aware of the issue and doing this automatically. I also received an email confirming this.

    • Got an e-mail reply admitting the error. It’s probably a canned response and it promises I will get the January box, so we’ll see what happens.

The speed of response makes me feel better though.

      • I feel better too with the response and knowing I’m not the only one this has happened too. I’m still a little disappointed though, especially since I’ve been subscribed since the summer.

    • If you’re not going to use the extra Baublebar code, I’d love it! My December box was “delivered” at the end of December but I never got it, and then they told me they were sold out and couldn’t send me another. Now even if I contact them, I’d never get the code in time to use it. Just in case, my email is morrisonspanishclass at gmail dot com.

  12. Just spoke to Allure on the phone about the status of my box and she said it was at the warehouse preparing for shipment. She also said they were making a large shipment tonight and that I should be getting the tracking info in the next day or so. I actually got my Sephora Play box today and that usually comes later than my Allure.

  13. I’ve been a subscriber for over a year and just got this exact variation in the mail. I was also surprised the MUFE didn’t work very well for me (the color looked a bit better when it dried down but then I didn’t like the “wrinkly” liquid lipstick look…just not a fan of liquid lipsticks I guess). I think the color is a bit too griege for me. But I’m glad I got to try it out to see! Can’t wait to try the Sunday Riley….

    • Yes I thought the same for the lip. It looked great in the tube and dried too dark and dry. Anyone have tips on changing the color of these types of lip products to make them wearable if the color is too dark or light?

      • It makes a gorgeous matte liquid eyeshadow!

      • I used a product called “Beautaniq Beauty Blush Serum” from birchbox to change some griege liquid lips to a more rosy color that I liked. I’m sure that other rosy colored liquid blush products might work to change the color for you.

    • I didn’t like the MUFE. It swatches so pretty on everyone else but looks just horrible on me. I tried wearing it the other say just to test it out and people kept staring at my lips, but no one complimented them. 🤔 At least it’s not just me.

      • I tried it as well. Felt very nice going on but dried down to a weird grayish-brown color that is not at all flattering.

Didn’t give me that wrinkly matte lip look, but I have been drowning my lips in balm because they are so dry.

  14. My Sunday Riley was broken and when I called allure about it, the customer rep told me at first they were no such product in the box?? To then tell me he couldn’t send me a replacement, but if they receive a shipment, he would mail me one.. I asked if I could get an email confirmation in regards with this info, and he told me he unfortunately couldn’t email me!!! Hahahaha.. but he’s going to email me when he will send me a possible replacement for broken item????? Right..

    • Mine is broken too! Someone is supposed to get back to me….We’ll see how long that takes!

    • Mine was broken too! Grrrr. And I got my freebie today and it was a tiny .1oz eye cream worth only $13, not the $28 my email said. Not off to a good start with this sub. Gonna email them, their customer service will decide for me if I stay or go.

    • I just received my box and thought my SR item was broken too but I pushed on and turned the bottle at the same time and it went back together. I was like ohh man and was about to call. Try this first

  15. A follow-up note to my original post a few moments ago.

I do not think that someone has to be “100% happy” to post their opinions. I’m all for bashing deserving products, companies, poor customer service, false advertising, shipping and delivery, etc. That is information that can be of use to other members. But throwing personal shade at each other is just mean, rude and petty. Check yourself before hitting send.

But back to Allure. I have not yet received my $28 free gift for a new subscription. I’m hearing it’s a lipstick sample? Bad on you, Allure.

    • It’s a 0.1oz sample of Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Eye Concentrate worth $13.60. Significantly with less than the promised $28+ retail value mystery gift. The jar it came in honestly looked empty, there’s a tiny layer of product in the bottom. Not happy!

    • I just got my mystery gift today – mine was a 3ml pot of Fresh Black Tea Eye Cream; it’s not worth $28, but it’s a “gift”, so no biggie. I also got my January box today & received the same variation as Liz as a new subscriber, so maybe there aren’t too many variations.

      • Got the same eye cream. Def not happy since I subbed at that time because of the freebie. And I’ve seen others got a whole box with a bunch of things, including a full size nars blush. If they hadn’t said in my email it would be worth $28 then I wouldn’t mind so much but that’s false advertising in my eyes and makes me Leary of them.

        • I got the same eye cream. The jar was very small and had just the tiniest amount of product. 😾

        • Wasn’t there a message yesterday from Allure? It said that all new subs would receive a Best of Beauty box for their mystery gift as they were out of Tarte blushes. Curiously, I now cannot find that post on any of the Allure threads. Has it been deleted? I received the tiny eye cream today which IS from the Best of Beauty box, but it doesn’t come close to the stated value of the $28 mystery gift.

          • I was not thrilled with the eye cream sample either. I know that it is free but this is what reels customers in so that is kind of a let down.

  16. I received this exact box today, and also the May 2017 Thrills box (free Black Friday gift) for signing up! Great goodies! Very pleased:-)

    • I didnt get my box today but i got the thrills box and its AMAZING! Imm use EVERYTHING!! We got invisibobles, 2 drug store lipstics, 2 balms, 1 lip scrub, 1 invisible liner, a full size shampoo and conditioner set, a cleansing conditioner, hair oil, hair volume mist, hair spray, dry shampoo, face wipes, 2 containers of eye wipes, Simple cleansing oil, toothbrush and paste, 2 huge jars of body lotion, hand lotion, a small rituals body wash foam, 2 sets of nails and finally a sunscreen stick (unfortunately expired 12/17)
Wowser!! Mostly good brands/ great quality ingredients too!

      • Lin: That sunscreen does have the December 2017 expiration, but since it is zinc oxide (which is physical and not the standard sunscreen chemicals) I’m thinking it is fine. Plus, even though it has “expired” sunscreens don’t lose all of their efficacy immediately.

Now, I wouldn’t rely on it to be my daily sunscreen at the equator but I think it will be fine for stroking onto the backs of my hands until I use it up.

      • My Thrills box came today as well. WOW! I love it! It was pretty heavy. My husband actually looked at it and said wow! Can’t wait for my teenager to go through everything 🙂

Everything is so useful, I can’t wait to try some stuff out.

The charcoal shampoo and conditioner looks interesting!

  17. I have been an Allure subscriber for a couple of years. When I saw the Sunday Riley in the earlier spoilers I decided to get another subscription. This was in early December. I received both of my boxes and they were both December’s (which is what I expected). Allure has now added variations, with some of them being cheap drugstore items (Milani and Pop Beauty). There is also the much dreaded Smashbox primer. It has been in every beauty box since the beginning of time. 🙄

I expect both of my January boxes to be as initially advertised. Overselling the box without notification of variables seems very shady and is just a classic case of bait and switch. New subscribers at the very least should have been given a chance to skip this box or unsubscribe. If the Sunday Riley somehow becomes a variant, I would advise Allure to sprint to Sephora and stock up. I don’t imagine too many people will be happy if their box doesn’t include SR. Remember the Foreo debacle?

BTW, I too have noticed a big increase in snark on this site. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but being hateful and rude to others is simply not called for.

    • I received all three of my allure subs a couple of days ago…all had the Sunday Riley in it (WOW! What a value for this months box!! and it’s a NICE product it Makes my face feel awesome) the little brochure said everyone would recieve that. It told the two I think items that could be a variable item however I recieved all products advertised in the brochure in all three boxes. (I always get the same box 3 times, I usually wish I could get the different boxes so I get different items but I’m NEVER let down by allure!

    • Milani is not a cheap drugstore brand…….well not any more. They make great products at fairly reasonable prices.

  18. That’s a lot of variations.

  19. I got my January box and my mystery gift today. (I signed up in December and received the December box really quickly.) Super excited about the box although I am surprised the MUFE lip color doesn’t work on me. It’s SO pretty swatched but I just tried it on and I look ridiculous. Lol. Someone earlier said nude lips make them look like a corpse. This color has the same effect on me. Bummer because I like the formula!

So the gift. It was a lipstick sample. Wanderout Dual Lipstick in Barely There by Wander Beauty. I’m so confused. I thought it would be full size product? Wasn’t it supposed to be worth at least $28? That’s what the email said. This is definitely not that. I know it’s a gift and “free” but I was hoping for the box that severals other got or at least a full size product.

    • I double checked my email to make sure it said “28+”. It did. My product was a half filled eye cream ‘Black Tea age defy eye concentrate’ it was 1/5 of full size and only worth $13. Bummer.

      • Same here. Just got my January box and it is the exact same as Liz’s (signed up in December), and my free gift. A 0.1oz sample of the Fresh Age Delay Eye Concentrate. Better than nothing, but not the $28 value promised

    • I just got the same sample today. Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Eye Concentrate 3 ml (0.1 fl oz) worth $13.60. Full size is 15 ml (0.5 fl oz) for $68. I’m really upset that it was technically not even half of the promised RV. I could understand being a dollar or so lower than promised, but less than half??? What is wrong with this company?

    • I thought it was just me. I too cannot wear that shade of lipstick. My friends either. I remain in pursuit of a flattering comfortable nude lip color.

      • Me neither. That shade is a very blue-based (cool) shade. I need a gold base (warm) tone in mine…

    • Lillian, your story is the same as mine. Major disappointment with the “$28” mystery gift, the Wander Beauty Lipstick sample in Barely There. Especially since the January box that was delivered on the same day had another nude lip stick, the MUFE.

And yes, that MUFE color made me look corpse. No way I’m wearing that. Wasn’t much impressed either with a brown eye pencil. I would have like the purple instead.

The brown eyepencil and the nude lip colors, not working so much for me.

Wonder if it’s worth complaining about the mystery gift to Allure.

      • Helen-was the mystery gift the incredibly small green tea eye cream? I was thinking of complaining as they blatantly misrepresented this item in their advertising. They lied. Not cool. I’m going to complain.

        • Suzanne, it was a lipstick sample, Wander Beauty Lipstick sample in Barely There.

It says it’s a dual on the label, but I don’t see any dual color? I can see it as a fun sample for a box, but not any $28 mystery gift. It’s not even full-size!

  20. I talked to Allure CS today and it’s because I got a Dec. box, not Jan.
They are sending out some Dec. boxes before the Jan. boxes right now for some new subscribers ( not all) who subscribed in early January ( you know, in the 4-5 days before the Jan. box sold out LOL). I WASN’T technically a ” new subscriber” but because of the ” one box per household unless you buy gift subscriptions”, my payments were refunded except one.

*** I just talked to CS and they said it was a timing glitch and the Jan. boxes will be sent in Jan.*** I believe them because my experiences with this box, going back many years, has been great overall.

My pretty Becca highlighter was smashed in my Dec. box, and the one I received today is perfect, so I told them not to send out a replacement. It will all probably work out just fine. : ).

I wanted to let others know what the CS Rep. told me today when I called about Jan. boxes shipping. The Dec. box is not supposed to count in the 6 or 12 month subscriptions either if it is shipped in Jan.

As long as I get my ” grail” CEO Brightening Serum in the upcoming shipments, I’ll be happy as a clam in the sunshine. : ).

    • Thanks Mandy! I called their Customer Service and was told basically the same thing.

  21. Did this happen to anyone else? I have subscribed box for a year and a half. Today I got my box January 16th and is the exact same box I got in December! Extremely unhappy because the January box is sold out.

    • Just an update: I called the customer service and somehow a small group of people got sent the December box twice. They assured me my January box is on the way. Their customer service is awesome!

    • Same here! Received Dec box and have been a subscriber for a while. I did also receive an email from them today with subject line “We’re Sorry”. Email states:

      Dear Beauty Box member,

We messed up, and sent you an extra December Beauty Box this month. Enjoy the bonus (or gift it to a friend), with our apologies for the delay in receiving your January Beauty Box. We’re sending it out right away, so keep an eye on your mailbox!

  22. Got my box today and i got everything pictured, no variations. I am not a new subscriber though, been subbing since the summer. Happy with this month 🙂

  23. This box looks fantastic! I’m not too excited about February’s box though. Maybe it’s time for a break.

  24. Does anyone want my Bauble Bar code – four more days to use it….. !!!!

    • ……… you can find me at ms 2 spyder at hot mail dot com 🙂

      • Hi. I just sent you an email.

        • KIM – just sent it to you!!! Enjoy – you are saving me from myself!!! 🙂

  25. So glad I cancelled.

Juuuuuust kidding! But someone had to say it, right? 😀

Seriously, I can’t wait until this box arrives in my mailbox.

  26. Wow! I signed up for a year of Allure and I’m so glad I did! This box looks great – any variation! I’d love to try the Inky Purple pen.
Just got the SR CEO serum from Glossybox so it may be up for a swap. I’ve never swapped before and just got off the swap waitlist!

    • And I think I’m probably the only person that wants the smashbox primer! I NEVER get it and I actually want it! Haha

      • You’re not alone! I love that primer, and I’m always happy when I get yet another deluxe sized sample of it. =) I’m also the same way when it comes to mascaras & perfume samples, so I’m an odd one. haha.

  27. I have tracking numbers for 3 of my boxes, Amazon’s is shipping but will arrive a bit later, I think.
I had to get more of the CEO. It is one of my ” grail” products now. This is the very first Vitamin C complexes I can tolerate. The others were too irritating for my sensitive skin. I probably bought 10-12 different brands and all were just too strong. This one isn’t, and I like the scent, which is unusually good for a Vitamin C preparation.

There are some special ways to care for Vitamin C serums and lotions, and also the skin while using them, but they’re minor helpful things and can be found easily on a search.

I am so excited about getting this great product at such a fab price.

I’ll be happy with the rest of the box if I don’t get more Smashbox primer.
I think the chances of getting multiples of it might be fairly low. ( Hoping). : ).

  28. Oh! Wow! The internet and Facebook trolls have arrived string and hard here on! You can’t voice your not 100% happy & sunshiny opinion on Facebook or anywhere else online without someone coming along to be nasty to you for it. Now here?! It’s not just me. It’s not just about allure either. I do not care if you like someone else’s opinion. It’s their opinion, not yours. Don’t like it? That’s fine but there’s no need to type some nasty response & tell others to pipe down or shut up! Poor Liz! She created this great site & now it’s turning into Troll Territory!

    • Agreed! That comment was very rude. Allure box is a product that we purchase with real money. If something I buy with my real money doesn’t come for 3 weeks to a month, I’m going to be angry too! This is not a surprise or a gift from allure. You have the right to voice your opinion without being told to “pipe down”. That’s just my opinion.

    • Hi Dawn, am I correct to assume you are referring to me in your comment? In no way did I mean my response to be nasty–honestly going for some perspective. My dad works for UPS, but you won’t see me get defensive when people talk bad about delivery men.

On that topic, my dad works crazy hours during Christmas-time to make sure people get their gifts on time. Just this week I saw a guy delivering packages out of a u-Haul! They are still so busy, UPS has to rent u-hauls to deliver everything on time.

Allure might have been closed those days before Christmas and through New Year’s–my work was closed for that week.

Calling me a “troll” is, in my opinion, worse and nastier than saying “pipe down,” although I’ll take the territory 😉

    • Please- the ” Be polite” comments are posted right below my comment. Is it something I said?
If so, I apologize sincerely and to all for anything I might have posted which is upsetting or not happy.
I am VERY HAPPY with my Allure subscriptions and boxes and have been for YEARS!!!

If the comment was removed, I understand, and know to let it go.. But if it’s something I posted, as in not loving Smashbox Primer- just that one brand out of thousands of fabulous makeup and skincare brands -and hoping not to get another Smashbox primer ( I have had probably 100’s of samples for years and it makes my skin glow bright red) then I am so sorry.

Please talk with me if I did something uncouth.
      I care.
      Mandy G.

      • Mandy G. – I don’t think this comment was aimed at you, but in regards to things further down the chain below in which someone was upset shipping was taking a long time and was told to calm down and stop complaining. I share your wish for no more Smashbox primer. 🙂 I still have at least 6 unused samples and it makes me break out. No more please!!! LOL.

      • No Mandy G, it wasn’t about you. Some girl named Claudia D told someone to pipe down because she complained that she hasn’t received her box yet. 😘

  29. I have to admit that I’m a little upset about the variations for the boxes. Allure never had variations & they never mentioned that there would be any in this box until now. I’m grateful for the items that I know I’ll be getting but I really was looking forward to trying the volumizing texture spray since I have fine hair. I’m also all set until the next millennium with black eye pencils and was really excited about getting a brown since I usually wear brown. To be honest, if they are going to continue to do this after making promises as to what we’re getting? I’m not sure if I will be keeping this sub box too much longer. There’s a lot of boxes that don’t do that out there that maybe I’d be better off with… 🤔🙄🤔

    • Allure had variations a few months ago (during another popular box) and someone mentioned a week or two ago that the website was updated to identify the eyeliner and This Works product as possible variations. I suspected the same thing that Liz did below — if you are a regular subscriber, you will probably get what was originally spoiled (and described in this review). However, if you signed up later you are open to the possible variations. And Allure updated their website to indicate that to people who were newly signing up. But I guess we’ll see when we all get our boxes.

    • When did variations start? I want the brown liner too, LOL , Especially because it’s liquid, ( its think ) it’s pretty late in the month and I have not received tracking info.
I read some of you got your box. Anyone in New Jersey get there box ?

  30. I signed up about two weeks ago when the webpage still said the January box would be my first… here’s hoping that’s what I get!

  31. Well. I am really hopeful to get what you got for variants. I don’t care so much what color eyeliner I get, but I really don’t use dry shampoo and there are so many variants to the primer that I wouldn’t use. Guess that’s what the swap market is for though!

On another note, am I the only one who can’t wear any nude lip without looking like a revived corpse?

    • Nope, I have the same affliction… I can wear a slightly berry or pinkish nude, but true nude looks terrible on me.

    • Count me in the corpse group. I’m fair skin with very dark hair (technically brown but everyone thinks it’s black). I have to do mauve or medium pinks at the LIGHTEST for lips. I frighten myself if I do a “true nude.” LOL.

      • Oh and on the other end of the spectrum, thanks to my pale skin, if I do a dark berry/purple I look like a vampire, reds make me look like a clown and I’m cool-toned so anything with a hint of peach or orange looks horrible. I have a very narrow range of “acceptable” lip colors. LOL.

    • Most nudes don’t look that great on me either.

I have light skin and red hair. My lips are naturally a somewhat dark pink, so the only nudes that give me the “my lips but better” look are ones aimed at olive or African-American tones.

  32. Weird in the variations. So long as I don’t get the smashbox primer though I’ll be happy (will actually be happy anyway but I really will never actually have to buy that primer with all the samples they send out!)

  33. Beautyfix sent Avene Retinal and Allure sent Sunday Riley CEO C. I’m just getting to juice beauty green apple full size moisturizer jar from BeautyFix. I hope I can use Sunday Riley CEO VitaminC in the am … I love the primer that came with December box enough to purchase full size. If I don’t get Camera Works I am fine with the one Jaclyn curated!

    • I love the Hourglass primer too!

  34. I just signed up. I really hope I get the January Box that’s what it showed when I signed up.

    • I read somewhere January box is sold out.

      • Mandi, Good News! I recieved the January box yesterday & just got back into town today I was in awww when I saw the Sunday Riley! I think I was one of the few that lucked out before it was sold out. My Box was a little different then Liz’s tho I recieved the Smachbox instead of the other but that’s ok I’m thrilled!

  35. Everything in this box is 100% me. I think this is one of the best beauty box curations I’ve ever seen.

    • Totally agree! 😀

  36. As long as I get the Sunday CEO Serum I’ll be good.

  37. Wow, with some of those items, that is as many variations as Sephora Play.

I don’t care though. The Sunday Riley item makes the box for me.

  38. Finally! A brown eyeliner. I can’t wait to get this box, just for the Sunday Riley product alone. I really enjoyed the sample I got with my Birchbox.

  39. Not a fan of variations but excited about CEO.
Did anyone get their $28 mystery gift from signing up in Dec?

    • I still haven’t got my beauty thrills box from the black friday deal!

      • I called and they said those will ship after January’s box 😉

        Love January’s box ❤

        Actually, love Allure period.

        • Yay! Thanks so much for the update! 🙂

      • I got my BF beauty thrills box (May ‘17) on Saturday. I never got a shipping confirmation, it just showed up.

    • Mine has shipped, but not received yet.

    • Still no sign of mine. Going on 2 months now. Sigh.

    • I got mine today, and it’s a sample of Fresh Black Tea eye concentrate. Definitely not the $28 value they stated, but I’m glad it’s something I’ll use!

  40. What’s with all the variation possibilities?

    • Initially there were no variations, but I suppose all the people signing up for this box because of the SR product, they prob didn’t have enough of the variant products to fulfill as advertised. All the people complaining about variations should just be glad Allure put together more boxes instead of declaring it sold out.

  41. I joined December 21st, as of today January 15th I have not received a single thing from them. I called last week and was told that there had been a issue with December box and it should be here about the same time as January.
To be honest I’m getting a little tired of all the excuses some of the subscription box companies have for not being timely. This is a awful impression for Allure to give a new customer.

    • I have waited soo much longer for boxes not as good as this and been content.

    • So you signed up during absolute PEAK season for delivery companies and 4 days before Christmas and are upset that your box will be received after 3 weeks…

I’ve waited longer for things I’ve actually paid for shipping, so maybe pipe down and be glad for your steep discount on great items?

    • Wow so much for being able to share your opinion(referring to your feedback) a month wait would be too long for me as well, the worst part is you may never even get Decembers as allure has the tendency of giving ppl the run around with ton of excuses and not delivering at the end. Hope you get both boxes soon☺️

      • Cheryl actually got a response from Allure, so that’s already more than some get. I never get tracking but always get a box. If you read literally any of the comments on Allure’s box/customer service, you would know what to expect (saying they have a “tendency” of doing something gives you the expectation that they run late or that you may have to call/email to make sure you’re really signed up).

Not saying they shouldn’t at least strive to be better, but, come onnnn… we’re getting a full-sized, $85 product plus others for $10-15.

    • Hi Cheryl – same thing happened to me w/ Allure (I signed up in September, didn’t hear anything for a month, etc) – I actually called them (that seems to be the best form of communication w/ Allure), they were really kind, and they discounted my next four months to only $10/per month. They’re a busy, popular company – I would say if you’re concerned to call, and I’m sure they will make it right 🙂

      • nearly same thing happened to me with Dec. box. I emailed, no answer. But I just called, and the person I spoke with could not have been any nicer or more helpful! She is having my Dec. box shipped to me free, and will discount my next for months to $10 each. I would call them.

BTW – while on the phone with her I asked if the Jan box was sold out. She said no, but it’s limited quantities. Their site says sold out, just to prep people that they may not get the Jan box.

Here’s why I cancelled. After multiple inquiries via email & once via phone, I was repeatedly told my November box was going to be shipped out, or it had already been shipped out, or there was a delay in the prepping area – it was one excuse after another.

By December 15th, I had been charged but still no box. Once again, sent an email & once again was reassured my November box was on it’s way. Along with December.

About a day later, I called again. This time got someone who actually knew what they were doing & was informed the November box had sold out almost immediately & I should never have been told my box was still on it’s way 6 weeks out.

So, you see, instead of “piping down,” you should be raising bloody hell at companies who are TAKING your money without delivering. Even if it’s ONLY $10. I work hard for my money. I don’t feel like giving it away unless it’s for charity, & forgive me if I’m wrong but Allure doesn’t qualify. I don’t support companies who outright lie or play games with their customers.

My advice, is don’t wait. It might be too late by then for them to get a box out (if it’s even truly available.)

For the record, I spent all of 2017 with the Allure sub, including 3 of their special boxes. They were great until October, then things went horribly wrong.

  42. I had no idea there were variations. I wanted the eye liner and the thisworks product! The eyeliner in Black option would be fine but none of the other variations work for me. I literally signed up because I wanted every single item and that has never happened before. I’m already on beauty overload and don’t need anymore items I don’t have a use for! Super bummed!!!! Does anyone know when it was announced that there were variations??

    • The variations are only for those who signed up this month. The original spoilers are for those who have had subs for a while. Once people saw the Sunday R serum they all jumped to sign up so rather than saying box Sold Out- they added different products. It’s on their site.

      • I’ve been subscribed for a couple of years, but because I got caught in the December Duplicate mess, mine came late.

I don’t mind that I got variants; I didn’t mind that I didn’t get the This Works product because it didn’t sound like it would be that useful to me.

  43. Can’t wait to get the January Box, just got my tracking number couple of hours ago. This box would be a completely worth it with Sunday Riley serum alone !

  44. Can’t wait to get home to Texas from Alaska where I’ve been for a month to get this box . It’s going to be like Christmas all over

  45. I don’t remember Allure announcing that there would be several variants to this box. Did I miss that?

    • They announced it recently, which leads me to think that if you are an existing subscriber, you should get exactly what’s in this review, and that they added inventory to allow for new subscribers to get this box. (Just a theory, though!)

      • I hope you’re right, Liz! I really want to try the ThisWorks product!

      • Thanks Liz!! I am still excited for my box. I’d actually prefer the purple eyeliner. The box is out for delivery today and I can’t wait to get home and find out what all is in it. My sign up bonus product will be here today too and I can’t wait to see that as well.

      • I have been a subscriber for over a year and a half and received a box with the Red Flower Icelandic Moonflower body lotion and the Beauty for Real I-Line in Whiskey. I was somewhat disappointed because I already have both of these but I don’t remember what box they came in. It looks like existing subscribers are not guaranteed the box in this review.

  46. did anyone else not even get a shipping notice/tracking info yet for this january box?
ugh, i am dying and so impatient! 😀

    • I just got a shipping notice. I ordered my box through Amazon — not sure if they’re on the same shipping schedule.

    • I just got my Fedex tracking number couple of hours ago ! Waited so long to get this box ! can’t wait.

    • I never got a shipping notice but it’s in my USPS informed delivery and should be delivered tomorrow.

    • I never got a shipping email, but when I look in my Allure account, it shows it’s shipped and it provides a link to track the shipping progress through USPS too. Mine seems to just be sitting for now (it says it’s left a distribution center for a while now), but at least it’s on its way!

      • I can’t find where it says anything about shipping in my allure account. I see that they took my money on 1/5 but that’s about it!

        • Are you seeing the date 1/5 next to “Order Date”? If so, I’m seeing the same thing, but right under “01/05/2018” next to Order Date I have a link that says “Track Shipment”. I wonder since you’re not seeing that link, maybe it hasn’t been shipped yet(?).

          • Yes, that is where the date is. And there is nothing next to it on mine so I guess it hasn’t shipped yet! I swear this one usually comes a lot earlier…

          • I just finally called them today – ordered in December – was charged on the 5th of January – then the order date changed to 1/19/18 – whatever – so I called to ask if they had any plans for shipping – was told it is in the warehouse “waiting on a shipment sticker” and should dispatch in the next couple of weeks – I hope they do ship since I paid for it but I will take that up with my American Express if they don’t – cancelled going forward because it’s just NOT worth the hassle!!

    • I got a shipping notice several days ago but it hasn’t moved yet.

    • Mine hasn’t shipped.. 🙁

  47. I didn’t know there were a whole bunch of variations in this months box! Wow! So it’s pretty much a toss up on whether I get what I wanted or not. As long as I get Sunday Riley I’ll be good☺️

  48. I can never get the link to the $5 off deal to work. I’d like to try subscribing to this box, but wish the link would work…

    • Do you have an ad-blocker installed? Another reader let us know that’s why the link wasn’t working for them.

    • You might want to try a different browser too. I’ve found that when links don’t work for me, if I just change the browser (typically from IE to something else), then the links work. 🙂

  49. All.of this Sunday Riley in subscription boxes lately makes me suspicious. I don’t even know what I’m suspicious about.

    • Right? Me too! Lol.

    • I hope it comes with manufacture date (I already found out it doesn’t come with an expiration date). If not can we contact SR with batch number? I have an open DE vit C and I won’t get to this for another few months.

      • My bottle says S106 on the bottom. Hope that helps!

    • Maybe it’s a marketing ploy? I feel like you can gain many new customers through subscription boxes? I started buying SR products after I got a sample in one of my boxes. Who knows. Or maybe this serum is not selling as well as they’d like because of products from like Drunk Elephant, so they either want to get people hooked or get rid of product?

      • I know their vitamin C line hasn’t been doing so well compared to their other products, so you may be right. I’ve read/heard that while the products are fine, they aren’t as effective as they could be, especially for the price. Regardless, I’m looking forward to trying it! 🙂

        • How funny Luna, I heard the complete oppitite. I hear this product is amazing! I can’t wait to try.

          • Opposite, was what I meant

          • haha! =D Fortunately, I hardly listen to reviews, even though I still like to read/watch them & can be easily influenced to want to try something if I just like the brand or aesthetic of the product (haha), so I’m also really looking forward to trying it out myself too! I hope you like it!

  50. Web page says February is first box
