Every year, KiwiCo has a special offering of holiday crates, and they are awesome! We buy them every year! They make excellent decorations, and often excellent gifts, too! My eleven-year-old son and I were especially excited to have the opportunity to review this special Tinker Crate (one of the boxes in the KiwiCo family) this year.

This is the project booklet for our workshop! Please note that the holiday crates do not come with a copy of Tinkerzine magazine.

Here's a peek inside the instructions. They may look a little intimidating, but they are always very clear, complete, and easy-to-follow.

These were the materials Tinker Crate supplied for the project. Everything we needed was included.

My son's first step was to assemble the walls of the workshop by inserting them into a foam base. He also glued some pieces of vellum over the windows for a frosty look.

His next step was to stick down a sticky strip of LED lights and assemble and attach the battery pack.

The next step was the hardest part of this project. The beadwork! He had to run lines of beads over the roof on clear lines, kind of like fishing line. He had to make sure the beads nested in the holes, and then he had to assemble the roof on the top of the workshop. It didn't want to stay together, so we improvised with some of the sticky foam pieces.

Finally, he put the finishing touches on the workshop. He hung some signs, made a snowman out of cotton balls, and made a wreath for the front door out of pipe cleaner.

And here it is completed! It's so gorgeous all lit up!

The Verdict: We love Tinker Crate! This holiday project turned out so great! I think this will be a wonderful part of our Christmas decor this year! I also really love that the kids get to participate in holiday preparations in such a meaningful way. Happy holidays!
