Natracare Organic 100% Cotton Tampons with Applicator — Estimated Value $5.62 (Buy a 16-pack of regular size for $6.42)
For my first two Rose War boxes, I chose the "Good Mix of All" option, which is a combination of tampons, pads, and pantyliners. And, while I do occasionally use pantyliners, and less so pads, having them delivered monthly was leading to a pile-up of pads and a shortage of tampons. So, I switched to the "Tampons Only" option last month and found that it equipped me for my period perfectly! Last month's box came with 14 tampons; 7 regular and 7 super, and while that combination of sizes worked out great, I felt I could have even used one or two less super ones 'n' one or two more regular ones. The universe must have heard me because this month I received 8 regulars and 6 supers!
These Natracare tampons have cardboard applicators and braided strings. They're pretty straightforward as far as application and wear are concerned.
Charles Jacquin Organic Peppermint Tea — Estimated Value $0.50
I've said this in many other reviews before, but I'm always happy to find tea in subscription boxes. It gives me the opportunity to explore to flavors and brands without having to purchase a whole box at the store, and run the risk of not liking it. I was unable to find this brand of tea online, which is too bad because it was really tasty! I drank it in the evening, before bed, which wouldn't work for some people since Ceylon tea has a high caffeine content, but I have no trouble whatsoever falling asleep at night. Peppermint tea is a known way to perk up, so I wish I had another bag to brew in the morning.
Multicolor Candy Cane — Estimated Value $0.50
This is my first candy cane of the season! Unfortunately, it came broken into two pieces, but that actually works out just fine for me, as I don't think I've ever once finished a candy cane in one sitting. Rather than having a classic peppermint flavor, this one is very fruity, as you might have guessed from the colorful stripes!
Choco Heim Choco Hazelnut Wafers — Estimated Value $1.00
This wafer treat also came broken inside the package, but I guess that's the name of the game when shipping things in a non-padded box! Again, this totally didn't bother me—what matters is that this amazing treat (which I could not find from the US or Canadian retailers online) tastes amazing. The consistency and flavor are similar to Pirouettes, but the hazelnut flavoring adds a Nutella-ish vibe and the wafers are perhaps even lighter 'n' meltier-in-the-mouth. So, so good!
Foggy Mountain Skincare Mossy Face Mask and Cleanser, 2.2 oz — Retail Value $8.00
I'm not very good about making time for self-care beauty habits like clay masks, so I'm excited that this one doubles as a facial cleanser! The smell is very natural to go along with the sage green color. The main three ingredients are French green clay, lavender essential oil, and honey that was locally sourced in Oregon, where this product is handmade. The consistency was smoother between my fingers than I expected, and my face felt refreshed from the moment this stuff touched it! After rinsing, a lingering lavender scent was left behind, as well as a cooling effect—probably from the clay. I love this product and I love that Rose War supports small businesses like this one!
Foggy Mountain Skincare also included a 10% coupon code to go along with the mask.
Organicare Unicorn Whipped Body Butter, 2 oz — Estimated Value $4.48 (Buy a 4 oz. tub for $8.95)
Unicorn-themed everything is really big right now, and my role has been to watch delightedly from the sidelines instead of to jump in head first. So, it kind of made me giggle to have this vibrant, rainbow whipped body butter in my hands. The label says that this product is "scented with a blend of pink sugar, blackberry, and bubble gum," and, yep, that's pretty much spot on. I don't know that I'd have been able to ID those three scents if left to my own devices! When you can get past the idea of rubbing what looks and smells like icing on your body, this moisturizer is actually the bomb. It's extremely thick and nourishing, and it even outlasted a hand wash, somehow without feeling sticky. Pretty awesome if you ask me!
This month's underwear came folded together and tucked in this protective plastic bag.
Rene Rofe Cotton-Blend Bikini Panties — Retail Value $10 (found here for $1.97)
Every night before bed, I change out of the underwear I wore that day and into a pair of cotton, bikini-cut underwear just like this pair. I simply prefer to feel fresh when I crawl under the covers! But, also, I typically wear cheeky-cut panties during the day, which aren't as cozy for sleeping and sometimes ride up overnight. It's always great to have a new pair added to the collection!
Adrienne Vittadini Studio Strappy Lace Thong — Estimated Value $5.50
Strappy accents are so trendy on undergarments right now, but I haven't invested in any because my personal style isn't very sexy. When I tried this sheer lace thong on, it was confirmed that this style isn't for me...I'm a true pear shape and the straps cut into the curves of my hips, disrupting that smooth(-ish) line. I have some friends with a more balanced build, so I'll pass this pair along to one of them!
MaviBandz Non-Slip, Adjustable Ribbon Headband — Retail Value $10
I've had so many headbands come in and out of my life because of how easily they can become uncomfortable or refuse to stay in place, etc. This black ribbon headband is tricked out with a velvety underside that keeps it in place, and an adjustable elastic strap in the back. The MaviBands Etsy page calls it an athletic headband, which I wouldn't have guessed on my own, but I wore it out for a run and it truly did stay put! I'm not sure I'll wear it day-to-day, but it's awesome to have on hand for workouts.
Verdict: When I first unpacked this month's Rose War Panty Power box, I wasn't expecting to love the sweet treats nor the skincare products as much as I did. After giving each item a taste or a try, though, I think December's box is my favorite yet! I particularly love the clay mask/facial cleanser and was impressed with the quality of the body butter. Value-wise, the items add up to $45.60 per my estimation, which is far less than the $65 worth of product that's promised in the welcome card. That said, Rose War often sources products from other countries, and, since many of them weren't available online, I wonder if the $65 value estimation takes the uniqueness and shipping of these hard-to-find products into account.
