FYI - there was a Loot Crate billing system technical error that resulted in anyone who bought the Loot 4 Fangirls or Gears of War Limited Edition Crates to be charged again. Loot Crate is aware of the situation and currently processing refunds. They also are giving $15 Loot Vault credit to anyone who was mistakenly charged. Here is the complete email:

Hello Looter,

Unfortunately, due to a billing system technical error, Looters who purchased either the Loot 4 Fangirls or Gears of War Limited Edition Crates were rebilled. We apologize for the possible temporary charge to your credit card or PayPal for either of these crates that you have already received.

Our teams are working overtime to reverse this as quickly and as reliably as we can. We will continue to investigate the cause with our billing partners to prevent this from happening in the future.

We are refunding Looters as soon as possible and many may already see the reversals.

PLEASE NOTE: PayPal refunds may take slightly longer due to the process, if you do not see any changes in 2-3 business days and have an urgent issue, please contact support using the link or e-mail below.

We are so sorry for any frustration that this may have caused you. As an apology for this unfortunate incident, we would like to offer you a $15 Loot Vault credit to acquire an item of your choosing. Enter the unique code below at checkout to redeem your credit at http://vault.lootcrate.com

I got very, VERY lucky that the card I had used to buy the Loot4Fangirls box is no longer valid. So I didn’t get charged, but I did get an email saying that there was an error processing my payment. Just thinking about this, on top of all the other problems I had while I was a subscriber makes me so angry.

I was watching people react to this on Twitter — the LootCrate main account refused to acknowledge it was going on for hours and hours, while they were retweeting other stuff to promote the Star Trek box. The LootCrate “support” Twitter was going around trying to keep the incident quiet by asking people to DM them. People who were worried about getting overdraft issues from their bank statements were unable to directory contact LootCrate through their website help desk, because SO MANY people were trying to get help that the interface could not handle it!

I did not get sent this email posted on the blog, presumably because the charge did not go through on my card. NOT COOL. I deserve an explanation & an apology for attempting to fraudulently make charges on my account, too!

The Loot Vault credit is a joke. It is notoriously difficult to get anything shipped to you. I believe I’ve seen it discussed in the MSA forum that people have been waiting for months to receive their orders. I personally had tried 2 different times to order things from the vault, and both times they refunded me weeks and weeks later because the item I wanted was out of stock.

More than ever, this incident proves that your money is NOT safe with LootCrate.

*people were unable to DIRECTLY contact LootCrate through the website.

I’m surprised that’s the only typo in this (thanks autocorrect) since I’m on mobile, & rehashing this via comment is still making me so angry that I’m physiologically affected. I’m surprised my comments are even somewhat coherent, TBH.
