The info card mentions the monthly featured pin artist, along with a little bio. October's artist is Abby Broussard of I Heart Avocado. I love the way she merges food favorites with cute animals!
The other side has retail values for the included treasures.
Let's jump into the quirkiness!
Money Bag Cross-Body - Listed Value $21.00
This holographic silver 'money bag' purse is super unique, and, BONUS, it doubles as the perfect accessory to complete your 'bandit' Halloween costume. You can get a good idea of scale by checking out the included costume idea card. The bag feels pretty substantial and well-made, and the gold chain makes it feel special... like you could wear it out for a quirky evening look. On the flip side, it could just as easily be worn with a tee and jeans. Cute!
Vampire Teeth Ice Cube Tray - Listed Value $6.00
I've used novelty ice cube trays like this one in the past, and they're a really fun way to add some personality to your beverages. This vampire teeth tray also comes with an accompanying recipe for Bubbling & Bloody Vampire Juice. The round shape of the teeth perfectly borders a martini glass.
Saturn Socks - Listed Value $7.00
I love the dusty rose hue and subtle sparkle of the design on these socks. Celestial stuff also seems to be all the rage right now! The knit is quite thin, making these ideal for wearing with true-to-size tennis shoes or boots. They fit me well, with room to spare, and I wear a size 7. These socks have enough give in their stretch to accommodate up to a size 10 or so, I'd estimate.
Moon Child Necklace - Listed Value $12.00
This tiered crystal necklace is wonderfully witchy and super on-trend. Though the crystal is actually made out of some type of plastic (I think? It's definitely not a real stone), it looks pretty believable from afar. It also has that magical opalescent quality and an adjustable chain closure to modify length.
Ouija Mystifying Mints - Listed Value $5.00
So clever! The Ouija board is the tin and the containing mints take the form of the heart-shaped wooden piece used by players to receive messages from the other side (called a planchette, by the way). These are definitely a conversation starter! The mints are also pleasantly strong.
Monster Patch - Listed Value $5.00
A mouth eating an eyeball: An image that I didn't know was missing from my denim jacket, but it's made a welcome addition. I love the pastel thread shades used here. The soft colors are a cool contrast to the imagery!
I Heart Avocado Pumpkin Pin - Retail Value $10.00 (found on sale here for $7.00)
This 1" enamel pin was perfect for the Halloween season, but I think it can totally be worn year round as well. Its gold plating and fresh teal and pink palette make it more of an ode to all things spooky rather than exclusively a celebration of Halloween. Another awesome addition to my denim jacket!
Spooky Cat Pen - Listed Value $2.00
Looove the sleek design of this spooky black cat pen. But what's more impressive is the glide of the tip. It has a sort of felt-tip quality, and the ink is super dark and smudge-proof. Just how I like it.
Verdict: This was my first Quirky Crate box, and it was such a delight. Each box costs $40.94 including shipping, and you will always get a pin, a pair of socks, and a some other crazy, cute little items. I love that Quirky Crate features an independent pin creator each month and supports small and independent businesses in that way. The items were also beautifully curated for a really thoroughly expressed theme!
Value-wise, these items added up to $68.00 total. I wish that Quirky Crate included the names of all item's designers so that I could double-check the accuracy of their listed values (something tells me that they might be inflated, as they often are on subscription box info cards). However, I think that the unique assortment in this box really makes the almost $41.00 cost a really excellent value if you love quirky stuff. If you can't justify subbing to this one, Quirky Crate has a smaller little sister box called Quirky Post that delivers three items. A pin and a pair of socks is always included there, as well.

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. December's box will ship 12/15.
