PackTowl Body Luxe Towel in Rainforest  – Retail Value $29.95

The first item this month is this ultra-soft and absorbent Packtowl! I’ve gotten Packtowl items from various boxes in the past year, but this new Luxe towel is in a whole other class. It feels like a traditional bath towel, it’s a good size (25”x54”), and it’s really absorbent. It will soak up 5 times it’s own weight in water and is easily wrung out. I think the weight differential vs the ultra-thin Packtowls may be worth it. This isn’t nearly as heavy as a traditional bath towel but it’s got the feel and absorbency. It’s made from microfiber so it will also dry a lot quicker than traditional cotton towels, and with the hang loop I can easily hang it from my pack or a branch to fully air dry after wringing it out. I love that it comes with it’s own stuff sack too - gotta keep my pack organized!

Purinize Water Filtration Drops - 2 oz. – Retail Value $15.95

Up next this month is this 2-ounce bottle of Purinize! Purinize water filtration drops can make most water safe to drink in just an hour and the best part is that it’s an all-natural product. No more iodine flavor from your questionable water source - Purinize is odorless and tasteless! Just a few drops will purify a liter of water in about an hour. It is made of sulfate mineral salts and will last indefinitely if stored correctly - perfect for a bug-out bag or camping kit. I’ve carried iodine for years and only on a few occasions have I had to use it, and it really tastes awful. Better than getting sick, yes, but Purinize is replacing my old iodine bottle immediately. This 2-ounce bottle will treat up to 60 liters of water so it should last me for a long time.

Gearaid Mirazyme Odor Eliminator – Retail Value $6.25

Finally this month we get a bottle of Gearaid’s Mirazyme Odor Eliminator. I’ve had Gearaid items in the past from Nomadik (see March 2017’s review) and they’ve been high quality, so I’m looking forward to testing this stuff out. I wash my clothes and dishes with unscented detergents so I’m stoked that it’s perfume free. This also tells me it’s going to actually eliminate odor instead of covering it up. I have a feeling with snowboarding season coming up I’m going to need to soak plenty of gear to get some less-than-pleasant smells out!

Verdict: Nomadik put together a good selection of very useful items this month.  I’m actually looking forward to my next backcountry “shower” now that I have this ultrasoft towel for afterward! They promise “up to $50 worth” of items in each box, and based on current internet prices this month’s value comes out to $52.15.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will start with the November box.

Coupon – Use code ADDICTION10 to save 10% off a month-to-month subscription plus free shipping or use code MSA10OFF to save $10 off a 6 or 12-month subscription!

Value Breakdown: At $32.95 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Towel: $18.92
  • Purinize: $10.08
  • Odor Eliminator: $3.95

How would you compare this sub with Cairn for a fairly experienced outdoors person who has their essential gear but likes new things to try out? Thanks for any recomendations!

I was wondering the same thing.

Absolutely love the towel, it feels so much nicer than the other ones I have. The odor eliminator will definitely get used, but I’ll probably put the purification drops up for swap. Overall though, I’m really happy with this box. 🙂

Right? The towel is so much nicer than any other camp towel I’ve ever had. Thanks for reading!
