October's theme is "Witch Please" and focuses on all your favorite witches!
There are also some promotional bookmarks advertising some great books!
Bonus Comic Book
In addition to the main items in the box, this Halloween box contains a few extra treats. The first is this comic book. I love the scratchy, doodle-like art in this Lunch Witch comic!
Bonus Zombie Magnet Poetry
The second bonus item is this hilarious set of zombie magnetic poetry. We've all seen these kinds of magnet sets, which usually feature all kinds of words to organize in creative ways. But zombies aren't as, uh... eloquent... as typical poets. Hence the hilarious sounds on these magnets.
Kiki's Delivery Service Jiji Plush Keychain
I couldn't find a price for this cutie on a reliable site online, but this sweet Jiji head is soft, squishy, and looks adorable hanging off of my backpack! I'm a big Miyazaki fan, so this keychain is a win for me!
Exclusive Broomstick Pen - Estimated Value $1.00
What witch box would be complete without a broom? This broom has the rustic vibe of an old-timey witch broom, but it also has the functional perk of being a pen! Fanmail Box made this pen especially for the box. It's a little more exciting than some of the promotional pens that wind up in some subscription boxes.
Exclusive Harry Potter Quote T-Shirt
This is another FanMail exclusive. You've gotta love a Harry Potter shirt! This one features a quote from Ginny that should be inspiring to all the witches out there. Most of my closet is black, so I appreciate the color palette here. It's a comfy, super soft fabric, too. Form and function!
Black Cat Witch Holographic Print by Jen Bartel
While this print is maybe a little too busy for me to display as decor in my apartment, the twinkling, undulating colors and powerful image are totally awesome—I'm hanging on to this small print for sure, if just for some artistic inspiration! Holograms always remind me of middle school Trapper Keepers, too, so that was a fun throwback feature!
Exclusive Sabrina the Teenage Witch Apron
Oh my goodness, I FORGOT about the pancake madness episode of this classic show (which I was obsessed with as a tween)!!! Nobody loves pancakes like the Spellmans. This apron is a clever way of bringing that reference back. And I love that Salem gets a little cameo on top of the stack of pancakes. This apron isn't the most sturdy, but it's good enough for an amateur cook like me. I'll have to wear this around the kitchen while I help on Thanksgiving!
The Verdict: FanMail is a fun subscription, and I'm a big fan of this month's witchy theme. They really do try to cater to a bunch of different fandoms, from TV to books, and beyond. I love that they include a bunch of pop culture recommendations in their info booklet, too—it really helps reinforce the idea that the curators of this box are one with their geeky customers! I will say that these weren't the fanciest items, but they sure are cute, fun, and unique.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but past boxes do occasionally go on sale here. Sign up now to nab the December box!
Coupon - Use coupon code SUBADDICT you can save $2 off your first box!
Value Breakdown: This box cost $21.99 + $6.98 in shipping (to Pittsburgh, PA). Most of the items in the box were exclusives, or else they were tricky to find from a reliable source online. So to give an idea of value, I recommend looking at the average cost of each item. This box cost me $28.97 and included 5 featured items, meaning each one is worth about $5.79. Add in the two bonus goodies, and that average price drops to $4.14. I think that's pretty fair for what I got!
