This book had surprisingly good reviews on Amazon and Goodreads, so I knew I would enjoy it. I’ve read a couple chapters so far, and the writing is descriptive and whimsical, but not silly. I know romance novels are not literary greats, but I still appreciate good writing. The story is of separation and loss, but also of courage and love.
There’s frankly, many different varieties of romance novels. You could get something super steamy or very cheesy, or you could end up with an old-world romance, a modern love story, or something very realistic. This particular book leans on the former—it has a Hallmark Channel or Lifetime kind of cheesiness to it. The title is Love in a Nutshell, the main character’s B&B that she is trying to open is called “The Nutshell”. Get it? Will someone fall in love at this B&B? I think so! Sure it’s silly, but sometimes we need that in our lives! The writing isn’t too bad, and Janet Evanovich is a very well-known writer in this genre. She knows what she is doing!
I couldn’t believe it when I saw it—a romantic movie I have NOT seen! It’s unheard of, truly. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a big movie person, meaning I will watch just about anything. I especially love romantic comedies and the like. This little movie was a Sundance winner in 2009 and features two well-known actors—Rose Byrne and Hugh Dancy. I like both of these actors, a lot. As for the movie, it was very sweet, but also pretty slow moving and kind of sad. Hugh Dancy’s character is a man with autism who falls in love with his neighbor (Rose Byrne). His struggles are so sad to watch and just bummed me out. All in all, good flick, worth a watch, but prepare yourself.
After doing some research, it appears that this brand of bath and body products is primarily used in hotels as bathroom toiletries. These smelled really fresh, and the salt is very fine which I like.
Another great product from Poggesi! This small lotion smells incredible and is very smooth. It doesn’t leave behind anything but for a super luxurious scent.
The Verdict: Overall, I have to say that I am disappointed with this box. I really wanted to love it because I love the idea of everything in this box. The cost is $9.99 plus shipping, which feels fair for what was inside. The books were okay and so was the movie, but the fact that the extras were hotel toiletries feels strange to me. The estimated value of the box based on what I found through searching, adds up to about $20.00 (using the Amazon discounted prices).
