I was really excited about Julep when the $5 polish offer came through, all the more so because it advertises free of a many bad chemicals, and I bought a bunch. Well. I do love the colors and finishes, so, so very pretty.

But. 🙁 It burns my throat worse than any other nail polish I’ve ever used while applying it and my nails are in the weakest shape they’ve ever been in after using it exclusively — peeling and breaking really low (I usually have strongish natural nails). Now, true, it could be anything else but I am leary now about using them. Anyone else have these issues?

I always use the Nails Inc nail kale base coat underneath. I do notice my nails get weak if I wear for a month solid. So, I try to wear for 3 weeks, take 2 weeks off, etc. Seems to be a pretty good combo.

I can’t speak to the nail issues since I don’t exclusively wear Julep polishes, but I totally agree with the fumes it gives off. I keep all of my Julep polishes in one bin, and every time I take the lid off of it a fairly strong chemical smell wafts out; and then when I actually go to use it the fumes almost make my eyes water (but no burning throat). My family even makes comments that they can tell when I’m doing my nails with a Julep polish because they can smell the fumes throughout the house (especially when they come back in from outside). What’s interesting is that none of my other polishes smell this strong, even those that aren’t “free” & are years older than my Julep polishes, and considering how “free” Julep polishes are I’d assume they’d be virtually odorless. But having said all of this, I still enjoy using them. haha.

Yeah, what is up with how noxious they are? They are my husbands least favorite due to odor. I actually went down to the kitchen and surreptitiously painted a couple of nails. My husband came downstairs several minutes later and I saw him wrinkle his nose, look around and shake his head. Yikes, man! lol

Should have said splitting (tops and sides) and breaking — is a more accurate description.

You need to get the sub Caitlyn. That 12 piece set is STUNNING. Not the colors shown. I love Julep polish and have thrown out everything else I had now. I got my first box last month and I am sooo impressed.

I got it. This will be my first ever Julep order, so I’m pretty excited! Maybe it’ll be enough to convince me to subscribe!

Ugh! I finally caved and joined! 😂 Glad the polish set gift is back! Also ordered the $14.00 special. Not doing great at not adding more sub boxes! 🙄
