Here's the info card for the box.
There's also usually a yoga pose card inside the box. This month, it's savasana, which is easy to forget is as important a yoga pose as tree, bow, or any of the more active ones!
There's also a recipe for a tasty veggie-noodle curry from a holistic health coach!
Cards for Calm - Value $20.00
At first, I thought this was just a box of inspirational cards or cards with little meditations on them. As it turns out, this is a fully fledged game (or an exercise, if you "play" the deck by yourself). The idea is to find the best solutions for relieving moments of tension or stress. In a group, you take turns volunteering visualizations that could lend a hand in the chosen situation and earning "answer" cards for great suggestions. If you're playing by yourself, you "win" by drawing cards, thinking of your own mindful responses, and keeping the cards you "complete" in a stack. The more frequently you "play", the more cards you'll earn, and the more mindful you'll become. I'd probably end up playing this myself, rather than with friends—I like their idea of setting the deck over my phone at night, so I grab for the cards, rather than my phone, each morning.
Sincerely Different Sweet Dreams Salve, 0.5 oz - Value $10.00 (Listed Value $12.00)
This soft, buttery salve has a fragrance that originally reminded me of some kind of flowery lime. As it turns out, the citrus comes from blood orange oil, and the "flowery" scents were lavender and frankincense. It's a rich, sweet scent that I wouldn't immediately associate with sleep, but the aroma is calming, grounding... and addicting! I would've fallen asleep faster if I didn't keep smelling my aromatic wrists!
Oh, also, I noted that the price this is listed for on the card is a few dollars higher than what it goes for online. I'm guessing that extra few dollars represent the shipping I would've paid had I tried to buy this online myself.
Dream Catcher - Listed Value $16.00
Dream catchers are sacred artifacts in certain Native American cultures, so I feel a little weird about how manufactured this one feels. Maybe it's because of the nylon cord or the plastic-y, faux-leather wrapped around the hoop, but it feels a tad bit commercial to me. I do love the bright colors and the pretty, nature-inspired textures. I wish there was a little more information about the source or maker of this particular dream catcher in addition to the details about how it's said to work. The authenticity of objects like this one are really important to me.
Mini Crescent Moon Necklace - Listed Value $25.00
According to the info card, this necklace is made of sterling silver, which is awesome. I wore it for a whole day and overnight, and I didn't notice any green on my neck nor tarnish on the chain (which is around 15 inches around). Hooray! I do love simple, minimalist necklaces like this one, and of course, I love the moon, so this necklace is going to be an everyday look for me.
The Hippie Homesteader Essential Oil Serum Rollerball in Dream, 10 ml - Value $10.00 (Listed Value $16.00)
I think most folks interpret sleepy, relaxing scents with lavender or chamomile. This rollerball has a bit of lavender in there, but the dominating scents to me were the cedarwood, clary sage, and bergamot. A bit on my pressure points left me feeling like I was falling asleep inside a cozy, cool log cabin.
3 Bags Moringa Miracle Tree Tea - Listed Value $4.00 (Buy 25 sachets for $6.95 here)
There are three bags of this tea, each in a different flavor (ginger, mint, and green tea). The teas are made with moringa, which is a nutritionally dense superfood. It didn't really impact the flavor of the tea, in my opinion, probably since the other flavors stood out to me more. I did appreciate getting to give this superfood a test run! I would definitely get this tea more in the future knowing that moringa is so beneficial!
The Verdict: I liked the items in this month's BuddhiBox Yoga though I do wish that the big ticket items had more backstory to them. (I always get suspicious when high-valued items like the necklace or the dream catcher don't have information about the shop they came from when everything else does...) I love how many small makers this box highlights and the unique items they feature. They kept to the relaxing theme really well, too. I think I'll be using that rollerball during savasana a lot!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Order by the 8th of the month to receive that month's box.
Value Breakdown: This box cost me $39.95 after shipping and based on my estimations, contains $85.00 in value. That means the box saved me 53%, and that the amount I paid for each item is approximately:
- Cards - $9.40
- Salve - $4.70
- Dreamcatcher - $7.52
- Necklace - $11.75
- Rollerball - $4.70
- 3 teas - $1.88
