Art Snacks is a monthly subscription service that provides artists with new, curated, top-of-the-line supplies. Art Snacks is the brainchild of siblings Lee and Sarah Rubenstein, founders of eatsleepdraw.com, a user-submitted art site.

This is the information card that came in the package. It lists each item in the box with suggestions on how to use them. My husband is an artist, and he was completely excited to play with all these new toys!

Things Are What You Make of Them Pencil Pin and Mini Zine by Adam J.K. - Value $8

This is so cute! I love this little pin! Plus this is an Art Snacks exclusive! I always ask my husband to do a sample piece when we get Art Snacks, so I usually just hand him the box, but not this time. I had to keep this one for myself. Sadly, I had no idea that the backing was a mini zine, so I think we might have recycled it before we got to read it. 🙁

Winsor & Newton Drawing Ink in Emerald - Value $5.39

My husband was super intrigued with this drawing ink. He wound up totally loving it and now he wants an entire set! He loved the coverage.

Marabu Fineliner Graphix Pens, set of 4 - Value $9.99

This is another Art Snacks exclusive! The set includes fine line pens in sizes 0.2mm, 0.4mm, 0.8mm, and a brush tip pen. Very nice! My husband thought these were great quality pens and he's glad to have them!

Speedball Standard Pen Nib Holder - Value $1.39

Speedball No. 513 Pen Nib - Value $0.99

My husband said it was very awkward to work with this traditional calligraphy style setup, and I think that's a really typical response if you have not used an instrument like this before. He eventually got the hang of it.

Connoisseur Protege Short Handle White Nylon Brush - Value $2.95

My husband liked this brush a lot. It's lightweight yet sturdy, and can apparently handle not just ink but paint as well.

ZIG Fudebiyori Brush Pen - Value $2.13 (buys a set of 8 for $17)

This was my husband's favorite item in the box! I think he may actually go and buy a full set of these. He loved the color and the ease of application with this brush pen.

Art Snacks is not a project box like we sometimes review with instructions and everything, but my husband always likes to do a sample drawing to show what can be done with the materials provided. I think his drawing is adorable! He's so handy with drawing tools. This also qualifies as an #artsnackschallenge, which is Art Snacks' monthly challenge to create something using only the materials provided plus paper.

Verdict: Art Snacks is always so much fun! We get to try new fine arts / drawing supplies and tools, and I really think my husband enjoys the Art Snacks Challenge! This month's value comes to $30.84, which is really good for a $24 box, especially an art supply box.

What do you think of Art Snacks?

This box looks interesting!! I’ve been looking for a nice art box, but most of them seem ‘project based’ – counter-productive when I have a zillion projects to do already and many times the supplies are dupes of what I already have in my craft room.

But everything in this box looks great!! That ink is lovely, and the Fineline Graphix pens are definitely something I would use. My hiccup would be on the price vs. rv – since I’m not into pins, the price of the box minus the pin is basically the price of the supplies. I have no problem picking out my own supplies, and prefer to control the influx of stuff into my craft room, so I doubt I would pay for near full-cost supplies that I didn’t pick out myself.

Thanks for the thoughtful comments Jenai! I think we will be reviewing this box again in the future, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens. I reviewed it a couple of years ago and I seem to recall it all being supplies, no pins or art related stuff. Idk if they’ve changed their model, but we will find out shortly. Happy Friday!
