Ipsy Review – September 2017

Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Each month you get full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag. I think it’s one of the best value beauty subscriptions and a great way to build out your makeup collection on the cheap!

This is one of my top recommendations if you are looking for a beauty box – the value and sample sizes are amazing. (Check out my list of the Top Beauty Boxes for 2017 and our reviews of Cheap Subscription Boxes for more recommendations!)

(FYI – Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: Ipsy

The Cost: $10 a month (free shipping)

The Products: Full size and samples of makeup and beauty products. (Plus a makeup bag!)

Ships to: US and Canada

Delivered via: USPS

Each month, ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their 5 items.

Black + gold accents = exactly my style, so I’m loving the glam bag design this month! The faux pyramid stud texture is a nice addition, too.

And you get a pop of blue with the lining:

Now, on to the items!

Gellusion Gel-Effect Polish in Capricorn – FULL SIZE! Value $11

This is a 9-free, cruelty-free, vegan nail polish brand.

The formula is designed to give you a gel-look without the gel manicure. I think the look is pretty impressive. Here it is on:

I like the winter berry color! (Two coats for full coverage.)

ColourPop Brow Boss in Light Brown – FULL SIZE! Value $5

This eyebrow pencil has a twist up pencil on one side and a spoolie on the other:

The shade is probably one shade too light for me, but it still worked. I loved the precision I could get with this fine pencil, too. (Swatched in lower photo.)

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer Radiance – .25 oz Value $9.75

Smashbox primer shows up a lot in subscription boxes, but I think this is the first time I’ve seen a Radiance version sample!

It gives a beautiful overall glow and would work well even if you don’t apply foundation after. (In fact, that’s probably the only way you can truly appreciate the glow, as my full coverage foundation covered it up!)

Pixi Beauty Blush Duo in Peach Honey – 4.5 g Value $4

(This blush duo is only available in full size when paired with a Kabuki brush, so to estimate value, I’m cutting the value in half. Assuming the full-size blush is $9, and the brush is $9.)

I like Pixi products, but I’ve found that they aren’t always consistent in pigment. In this case, the darker, peachy shade has much better pigment than the lighter shade.

Here are both of the shades swatched beneath the brow pencil and the primer:

Even with the minor pigment issue, I’m loving both of these shades!

Skin Food Black Sugar Mask – .36 oz Value $1

This is a pretty small sample by Ipsy standards, but I didn’t end up liking this mask, so it really wouldn’t have made a difference if they had sent the full-size version! When I read the name “Skinfood” I assumed this would be full of ingredients that were great for you skin to “eat up” but, not so much. (BHT, Parabens, and fragrance are all in the formula.)

My other issue with this mask is the scent. I was really hoping for a sweet sugar smell, but it just smells like a cleaning product to me. Those issues aside, it did exfoliate and moisturize my skin, so I have to give them credit there.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $30.75. That’s decent for a $10 beauty subscription box, but honestly, it’s a little low for Ipsy. With the exception of the mask, I like everything in this bag. It isn’t a WOW month, but it’s solid! (And they get bonus points for the super chic bag!)

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, if you sign up in this month, you’ll get next month’s box as your first box. (And Ipsy is often in waitlist mode, so sign up asap if you are interested.)

Value Breakdown: At $10 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Nail Polish: $3.58
  • ColourPop Brow Pencil: $1.63
  • Smashbox Primer: $3.16
  • Pixi Blush Duo: $1.30
  • Mask: $.33
  • Bag – Not counted toward value

Good to know: Ipsy sends out variations. You may get a completely different bag than me.

What do you think of the September Ipsy Glam Bag? What items did you get in your bag?

  1. Are you giving a $20 valuation to the bag itself?

  2. I don’t understand your valuation of this bag. Are you giving a $20 valuation to the bag itself?

  3. I just received my first Ipsy bag and I’m pleased with it. I received the brow pencil in dark brown, Gellusion nail polish in Capricorn (so happy that I didn’t get the blue), Dirty Little Secret lip gloss in nude beach, Smashbox primer, and re:p facial mask. I really like the design of the bag. I signed up in August and was put on the waitlist. I was not expecting to get a bag at all this month.

  4. This is my first Ipsy bag and I love it. I requested the TaRte mascara, which I received. My other items were
    * egg face wash
    *smashbox primer
    * I line 247 black eyeliner
*pixi by Petra blush in beach rose

    • I love my bag first time i ever had one i loved the sugar mask very nice and the polish omg wonderful so shinny im very happy with it

  5. i got to say the glam bag (just the bag) is so hot this month!! 1 of the best they’ve made so far. My contents within the bag was okay. I received another brush that I don’t need. The egg white cleanser i requested, nail polish that I never get enough of. I was happy that I got the Elizabeth eyeshadow in gun metal and not the brown color. Oh, and I got the brow pencil but I don’t need it. So the bag is awesome, the content meh

  6. Havent’s receive my bag yet, but already seen what’s in it. Been subscribe to ipsy for 5 months and I notice I accumulated 4 mascaras and 3 eyeliners and 4 shadows that are nude. This sept bag has another mascara, which I keep getting all the time.

  7. Is there a second review for this month coming?

  8. I look forward to my ipsy bag every month, I already know what’s coming but its still exciting. its like someone is sending me a present every month, call me silly, but thats how I feel. I most agree with some of the girls, there are times that am not excited about the product, but some make up for the others, and then I just shrug and say, Uh well, lets see what comes next month…LOL…

    keep it coming :0)

  9. I I am posting a review simply because when I was looking I wanted a real review. I tried Ipsy for 3 months and honestly I couldn’t find it worth the money or the hassle. Maybe for younger girls but if you’re in your 30’s I was not pleased. Just my opinion. Thank you

  10. My first Ipsy bag this month- I loved it!

I didn’t special request anything, but got both products I was hoping for (Tarte mascara and smashbox radiance primer.)

It was nice to get the full size pixie blush- it’s not a color I would have thought to try on my own, but it looks great! Great pigment and consistency on darker peach shade, but lighter shade not as well pigmented and rougher.

Also got Elizabeth Mott in toasted -was dubious until I tried it! Gorgeous shade, smooth and silly application. Stayed on all day (although I had smashbox photo finish lid primer underneath.)

Haven’t tried the two Manefit masks yet.

Overall, great first impression from Ipsy and great value for bag and products!

  11. My bag was shipped the 10th was suppose to arrive the 16th. I noticed tracking never updated finally this morning it reached the very first destination (Raleigh N.C I live in Mi. ) and delivery changed to the 20th now!! Its not even stuck in Stow yet!!

    • Almost the same exact thing happened to me and I’m from MI too. Make sure it’s not your post office because it was for me and I ended up going off on Ipsy all to find out it was my post office. They really need to work on their tracking updates and what not.

  12. That’s interesting to hear about your experience with the skinfood mask! It typically has really good ratings online.

    • I was thinking of getting it at one point, but then started reading the reviews on Amazon, and many said that it’s very oily and feels like putting vaseline on your face.

      • I’m not sure I had the same experience tbh. I really enjoyed it! But I recommend for people who got it who don’t want it on their face, use it on your hands. Give a good scrub with it on your nail beds and stuff, and your hands will be SO SOFT after. You know, if you’re looking for a different use for it. I bet it would work for feet too, but I just used a dollop for my hands. Used it twice, since I got it and I think I could manage to get two more uses for that purpose. ^_^

  13. I received my bag, I was absolutely disappointed by it. The “sample” sizes were horrid and much too small to be considered samples. The only things I actually enjoyed besides the bad was the eyeshadow brush and the sheet masks. I’m going to give Ipsy one last shot for October and if it disappoints me i’ll cancel and stick to my BoxyCharm.

  14. This is my second ipsy bag. I received:
    -Eva-nyc zero gravity volume powder
    -Beauty for Real black eyeliner
    -Ciaté black magic wonderland mascara
    -Colourpop VIP ultra glossy lip
    -Neogen white truffle serum (requested)

I’m pretty excited about the serum and the volume powder. I get 3 sub boxes, so I’m swimming in mascara and eyeliner. And I love the color of the lip gloss.

The bag is great! Overall, I’m happy.

  15. Has anyone received the Colorpop lipgloss in Ipsy VIP who also received the Vasanti lipgloss in Supermom a few months back? I’m wondering how similar they are. I’m hesitant to open mine and try it out because then I can’t swap it, and they look very similar in the tube 🙁

    • Hi, I received both. To me similar formula but I’m not an expert and like them both. The ipsy VIP color is a brighter pink. I thought maybe to pink for me then tried it and it was not bad. Two different colors I swatched they do look similar in the tube though. Not sticky imo I like both. Good luck.

  16. All new point rewards are up!

  17. I kinda love mine… I got the Luxie brush, the Smashbox primer, the Elizabeth Mott eyeshadow in Gunmetal, the Skin Food (meh), and the Beauty For Real pencil in a really pretty beige-ish color with shimmer. But my pencil won’t roll up or down, I think it’s broken. I’m going to ask for a replacement.

As a side note: Is anyone else experiencing loading issues in the app… specifically when you access your account info? I’ve reinstalled twice, but it keeps getting stuck loading my account. The rest of the app works fine.

    • Yeah, mine keeps asking me to update the app, but there is no update to download.

      • I uninstalled the app then reinstalled it. After doing that 2x, it magically worked!
        Good luck!

      • I reinstalled, as well. It’s working now. I also heard back from Ipsy right away, and they’re sending out a replacement pencil. Good month.

  18. I’m on the fence this month. When I saw my preview I was really excited. But now that I have it in my hands I’m not so much. I got the Adesse nail color in Deception, which I love. Great fall tone and I love this brand. I got a Luxie angled shadow brush, another win. Two Manefit masks that are okay. But the two other items, Smash box primer and Pixi blush are total duds. I have oily shiny skin so anything with shimmer just makes me look like an oil slick. Plus the sub boxes and their non stop highlighters… I’m over it. I feel like I get 3 a month. Where one of them could last me up to a year, I have about 30 different ones. Oh well. I do at least really love 2 items and the bag, so it’s still worth it.

    • I got the exact same bag! Immediately put the nail polish on, love it! My pixi blush arrived crushed so I emailed Ipsy support and got a reply within the hour that they will be sending me a replacement product.

  19. Got my first glam bag today. Not impressed. The bag was the best thing. The eyeshadow brush I’ll use. The masks are okay. The eyeshadow looks like something from the dollar store. Same with the color pop lipstick and the blush. Giving it another month then deciding if going to continue with Ipsy.

  20. This was a great ipsy month for me. I think the bag design is just meh, but they really delivered with the content.

-ColourPop Lippie Stix- Love the color and the matte x formula

-Luxie brush- Love Luxie and I can always use more eyeshadow brushes

-E Nature Sleeping Pack- I’m a big fan of Korean skincare (switched to a Korean multistep routine in January and it’s done wonders for my skin) and I’m actually almost out of my usual sleep mask. This is a good sample size and I’m looking forward to trying it.

-Elizabeth Mott eyeshadow in Gunmetal- Thank GOD thy finally didn’t give me a brown eyeshadow (aka literally the only color that I never wear). This actually swatched nicely and I may use it.

-Adesse nail polish- This color made me gag online (not in a good way), but it’s more of a tolerable gray irl. Probably won’t wear it still, but I don’t hate the color as much as I thought I would.

3/5 full size products ain’t bad

    • OOOoh you got lucky with that Elizabeth Mott. It’s pretty.

  21. I got my glam bag last night. I like it. What I most enjoyed receiving was the makeup bag. Immediately put my stuff in it and placed inside my purse. It makes the perfect match. I got face masks, a pixi blush, a liner, the tarte mascara and the smashbox primer. This was a good bag for me.

  22. Sorry. Just to clarify both the actual value and the glam break down value are extremely helpful.
    Thanks so muchly.

  23. Thank you so much for the itemized break down. Please make that standard info if your able to. It helps me in trades and also to decide how high to go on eBay when purchasing an item I didn’t receive in my glam bag but wanted to try. ( sometimes the prices are crazy ) so this would really be helpful.
    Thank you so much.

  24. I don’t want to start an angry chain, I just wonder sometimes why people feel the need to come here, a place that is not an official ipsy site, to complain about what they got in their bag or to announce that they are unsubscribing. Just unsubscribe and go. The comments are not reaching ipsy officials, just people who came here to read about the products and spoilers. Anyway, I just wonder why people always drop a note saying they are cancelling when they should really just tell ipsy people, through ipsy cares or their official facebook or wherever. Seems kind of like pointless whining. Anyway… sorry if this starts a comments war. Maybe me complaining about that here is the same as people complaining about not liking their $10 glam bag.

    • Yes, and go on and on about a cosmetic or bag they don’t like that cost less than $1.70 each (dividing 5 items + bag into $10)!

    • If you look closely Liz always has an open ended question like “what did you think” on her reviews. The purpose of the forum is to share opinion! I counter with “why do you come here to read these comments if get on your last nerve”? Just ignore the forum and tell Ipsy what you think and move on.

    • I agree with you. I don’t understand why they post those things on Ipsy’s facebook page either. Nobody cares. If you aren’t happy with it, cancel your account. I feel like the ONLY reason they post it is to see if CS will offer them something to stay. Smh.

    • I really appreciate those negative comments, honestly! I go to sites like this BECAUSE I want honest opinions, so that kind of feedback helps me (a) decide if I want to subscribe to a box that I’m on the fence about and (b) put a finger on what’s been bothering me about a box I do subscribe to. Sometimes a box is great except for a few factors, or it’s been doing something differently, or I’ve been making a mistake that’s leaving me dissatisfied and end up finding a solution here. I definitely don’t see a point in comments like “I HATE IPSY,” but hey, if ya gotta get it out, ya gotta get it out, and better here than to some poor customer service stranger.

      • I do understand that for sure. I think for me it’s the comments that are just “I hate my bag, cancelled!” or something. Not helpful and I wonder who they are complaining to or what they hope to get from it much of the time beyond the satisfaction of shouting to other people who may be dissatisfied. I also like honest criticism and feedback, and that’s why I read the comments too. Anyway, I appreciate the levelheaded responses and lack of flame war here, even if others disagree with my original post. I love when people can calmly bring up points I may have missed, thank you. ^_^

    • I agree. I love ipsy it’s ten dollars and fun. If I don’t want my products I give them away.
I’m tired of the complaining also.

    • I have to disagree. I find all the info great as I’m researching which subscription to try. I have bought other products/services & I know if I say the word cancel it’s usually due to frustration. These things are to give us a little bit, something to get excited about. So I’m definitely not trying to add stress or disappointment. Not being hateful, just wanted to express my opinion that all types of reviews. Have a great day & stay beatiful!!

    • This is a discussion board. About subscription boxes. That’s why people do it.

  25. I have the bag, the blush and the cleanser up for swap. I kept a nice brush and something else. Don’t remember so it must of have been useable but forgettable. Might be time to let Ipsy go.

  26. Second Ipsy and final one. The samples do not fit my profile. I do not think the Glam Bags are worth $10 for the benefit I receive from them. Very disappointed product wise. I do like the chic little bag though. If the samples had matched the spoilers, I would have been thrilled. Pixie, yuck, no pigment; Skin Food, small and cheap and weird; Cheap-O brush, trash; Try Harder Ipsy; You know better, do better!

    • I think with ipsy you have to stay with them for about 3 months before you really see a bag that matches your preferences. Reviewing items, or requesting helps a lot too. My bag is totally different than Liz’s this month. Every item is full-sized and it’s worth about $55.

    • I completely agree with Jackie. If you are not happy with your bag, you should really make sure to do your reviews as early as possible. The profile quiz is not to match you exactly with what you want, but to get an idea of the kinds of things that you might like. If you have specific things that you want, email ipsy cares and request it early in the month. They also let you opt out of up to two kinds of items for either one month or longer. You can’t specify colors or shades. So if you are tired of eyeliners, you can email them and ask to not get them in your bag. You can’t ask to opt out of black eyeliners though. You have to be able to accept any color of a product or none of that product.

Ipsy has amazing customer service. Ultimately, it’s up to you. If the subscription isn’t working for you, cancel. If you want to try for more customization, you might be happier with something like Julep where you can literally pick every single item and shade.

    • I agree with the others comments. The Quiz is just a basic guideline of the types of products you have interest in.
Where the IPSY matching magic happens is through your product review. So yes, it takes a couple of months for your glam bags to start matching you with the types of products you prefer. With one caveat. This is truley a sampling subscription service so you should expect a few products that might be out of your everyday comfort zone because it’s really all about trying THE NEW products and reviewing those as well. You’ll read many comments from IPSY subscribers that start their review or comment with I ” wouldn’t ever”, or ” I thought I’d hate it until I tried it. And now I love it. ” So you might surprise yourself and end up loving something you’d never dreamed you would.

    • Are you referring to the Luxie brush as “cheap-o”? That’s a $12 brush and is really nice. I’ve gotten tons of brushes in my glam bags over the past year and one of them have been bad, but the Luxie ones are my favorites.

      • I love Luxie too!

    • I’ve subbed to Ipsy for five+ years and they never get it right. Don’t waste your money if you can nip it in the bud.

The only reason I subscribe is because I have some kind of weird psychological problem with quitting! Lol But I promise you, doing the reviews and religiously editing your profile is as good as banging your head against a wall.

    • It took over a year and some tweaking w my profile but for the last 4-6 months ive gotten at least 3-4 out of 5 products that are nail on the head perfect

Try this :In your profile, when it asks you what you want from the djff categories like skincare, makeup, only choose 1 maybe 2 things you absolutely want, i only have mascara, brushes, cleansers and moisturizers. Bc that’s what i most want. Nothing else. And i get at least 1-3 of them each month, this month, i got all 4. But that’s not usually the case. I get mascara nearly every month, brushes every other month, a cleanser or a lotion nearly every month.
If there is something I really really want- i check onlh that item and clear the rest of my choices
Its not foolproof cos i can’t seem to stop gettibg ofra or trestique brands. Or BLACK EYELINERS – THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE
I figure they’re is some type of computer algorithm atwork here, but i dont understand algorithms enough to confidantly attest to this

  27. I really liked this months bag design 🙂
Overall I am happy with this months bag – i got the Colourpop Lippie Stix (requested), Smashbox Primer, Gel Polish (unfortunately in blue which i wont really use), Hanalei Papaya Enzyme Powder Cleanser (This item came in 5 single small packages which is great to take on travels) and re:p Bio Fresh Mask with Real Calming Herbs 🙂

Good month – way better than August!

    • Oh my gosh I would love the blue nail polish ! Are you on swap? I’m receiving a nail polish too but I don’t know if it will be the blue or red. Really hoping for the blue ! Would you be wiling to trade for it ?

    • That powder cleanser sounds awesome

  28. My items this month are the Elizabeth Mott eyeshadow in Gunmetal, Hanalei Papaya Enzyme Powder Cleanser, re:p Bio Fresh Mask with Real Calming Herbs, Ciate London Wonderwand Mascara, and Smashbox Radiance Primer. But honestly; ever since I picked up Play! by Sephora I’ve really been neglecting my ipsy samples, and it made me realize that I’ve always had a lot of unused ipsy samples/products over the years that I would just give to my best friends. I’m waiting on my first BoxyCharm box and Play! to arrive, but I’m really thinking that after 4 lovely years with ipsy it’s time to bid them adieu. I get SO MANY black eyeliner pencils, even after adjusting my quiz months ago.

    • I absolutely love my Boxycharm!

  29. Thanks for the review, Liz!

I looove getting skincare items in Ipsy, but the Skinfood mask is a huge disappointment. Glad to see it reviewed first – that’s going right in the trash for me.

I am getting the sheet mask duo in two of my three bags, though, so hopefully they’ll work out for me. 🙂

  30. My bag was AMAZING this month – Klairs toner (yay K-beauty!), Mac strobe primer (!!!), the colourpop brow pencil, gel-like polish, and a lipstick from Teeez. I haven’t seen anyone else say they got a MAC product yet?

  31. If you go to the Target store you can buy the pixi blush without the brush not that you would want to because it is still $18. That price online must be a buy the blush we will throw in this brush type deal. Even their lip balms are $8 they are kinda expensive for drugstore brand.

    • They are kind of expensive, but I have one of their colored chapsticks and I absolutely love it! I would totally spend $8 on it. I think it’s kind of like E.L.F., a hit or miss kind of deal.

  32. I am loving the new “To Wrap Up” section! This is a GREAT addition to the site’s reviews. I hope this becomes a permanent feature!! Great job! 😀

    • Ditto

  33. I got my bag today and I liked it. I got the same blush/highlighter and primer.

I also got a different polish in a pretty muted purple (Pretty Woman in Girl Boss), a Luxie brush, and the truffle serum oil I requested

I’m happy. I love Luxie brushes, love purple polish and it’s a cute bag. I’m almost always happy with ipsy. I find that I’m often disappointed with birchbox though ☹️

    • Bag twins! Sadly, mine just got sent to shipping today and I think I’ll be waiting at least another week for it’s arrival….

      • I have 2 subs and for the 1st time got the exact same bag twice. Not disappointed ☺️

I hope your bag arrives asap!

  34. I’m disappointed. I don’t usually peek at my items as I like to be surprised. I’ve “begged” for more skincare (cruelty free) and they had some great stuff this time as far as moisturizers, serums and cleansers. But I got another bronze frosted shadow. It’s like the 4th I’ve gotten out of maybe 7 bags. Instead the one skincare item they sent was toner with “parfum” in it. I’ve requested to cancel. I don’t like collecting things I can’t use. Even if it’s cheap it’s not worth it. And all the bags made in China by people making 10 cents an hour. Just not my kind of deal anymore.

    • Did you request anything this month and if you did, did you receive it? I think we’re all on bronzer overload and I also can not use skincare with fragrance in it.

      • I requested DLS nude beach lip but did not get it 😢 I love Septembers bag though; so cute!

      • I don’t think you will ever get it if you ask them for something that is just shown in the “everyone will get one of these” (or whatever) type of pictures. I believe the only things you can request and get for sure are the ones in the specific list of choices they send out. Not just anything that may be in the bag. I always select an item in the premade list Ipsy puts out and have always gotten it.

      • I got (will get) that if you want to swap!

    • With the negative comments about made in China we should boycott anything made in China. I am a makeup snob and if makeup product is made in China, Taiwan or Mexico out it goes!

      • I personally don’t use or purchase products tested on animals.

Be careful about generalizing China though because certain areas and companies are becoming cruelty free. It’s best to keep an updated list and just keep checking it.

      • You sound like a lovely caring person so you probably know this already but just in case it helps others be aware it’s worth repeating.

Everybody needs an updated peta cruelty free list to check regularly not just products produced out of the US but big makeup companies ( that own mannnnny other companies ) right here in the US. If any of their companies test products on animals it’s entire empire needs to be boycotted. Example: Neutrogena & Oil of Oly are not cruelty free.

Anyway keep up the fight cuz we as consumers own this issue. We have incredible sway over the cosmetic companies that we never had before. Because they produce and launch products according to all of our reviews and Beauty experts YouTube blogs so if we all push hard enough and boycott to make ourselves heard it will finally happen…Cruelty-Free.
Animal testing isn’t even accurate usable Scientific results. Our skin dermis & PH isn’t anything like animals so they can’t even scientifically justify any of their cruelty. Originally it was probably a cheaper testing option ( and you know that bottom line bull. ) But with what they can do in labs should be as affordable so no more excuses excepted right. 🙂

      • Trish,
Thank You for this helpful info. Just this week, Cali passed “right to know what is in our Products..” even feminine hygiene products are very bad.
As consumers we need to be aware and educated. Not everyone will choose better, fda options, but that is their choice. I don’t judge

Ok, off my soap box lol
I did get September bag and love it! Best one yet! I have cancelled ipsy and tempted to restart lol.
I again got mascara and eyeliner, I use those daily. The egg face wash and duo blush are full size. I requested face wash. I think this is my favorite bag as well.
Prior I was getting tiny samples of what I don’t want.
I did opt out of nail polish. I should have opted out of something else, I will take the blame for that part. I did pause Ipsy for a couple months. Then First Bag back was this… I am on the fence.

  35. I’m getting the Smashbox primer as well. Now I’m a longtime fan of their original formula, butI’ve never tried the radiance. Does it leave a tint on the skin?

I’m a full coverage gal so I imagine it doesn’t matter a whole lot but it would be nice for a no makeup glowey day.

    • Yes! I received it and my bag and wore it yesterday! Leaves a slight color and glow to the skin. I really like it!

      • Great, thank you! Mine will be here tomorrow and I’m excited to get it. This is the sub I thought would be the first to go, but I’ve managed to get it pretty tailored over the past few months and now I can’t even imagine getting rid of it.

      • I too thought I would cancel… Not because I’ve been in satisfied with any bag, but because I also subscribed to Boxycharm. Ipsy has consistently impressed me with matching my profile and honoring my request for a product. I think I will stick with Ipsy!!! Hope you enjoy your bag!

  36. I love the wrap-up info, especially the cost breakdown, thank you!!

I get two bags every month, usually right around the 15th.

    Bag #1
    1. Skin Food Black Sugar Mask — Sounded intriguing by name but after this review, not so much.
    2. Smashbox Radiance Primer
    3. Pixi Blush in Peach Honey
    4. Beauty For Real Eyeliner — Please oh please a non-black color!
    5. Colourpop Lippie Stix — Woohoo, the item I requested! .

    Bag #2
    1. Manefit Sheet Masks
    2. Elizabeth Mott Eyeshadow
    3. Luxie Angled Eyeshadow Brush
    4. Beauty For Real Eyeliner — Please oh please the non-black color I didn’t get in Bag #1
    5. Colourpop Lippie Stix — Oops. I requested the gloss for this bag, but no biggie, this is why I love swapping!

  37. I’m looking forward to getting mine, it should be here this Wed. I wish I’d gotten this nail color cuz it’s gorgeous! Mines the gray but I’m excited mostly for the Tarte mascara & I love a good sheet mask… Anything that helps with this skin of mine is a win for me 😊

  38. I really like the summary you added at the end!

This is only my second bag (though it hasn’t arrived yet!!) but I love what I’m getting. I asked for the Tarte mascara based on one of your previous reviews and also asked for the Luxie brush / I’m getting both! I can’t wait to get it 🙂

The only downside for me is shipping… The label was created Friday, but no update since. Same happened with my birchbox and it suddenly appeared. I don’t know if all the shipping companies have forgotten how to scan at transfer points or what! It makes the anticipation a little less positive though because I don’t really trust the tracking. And my mom received hers a few days ago, so it isn’t that they haven’t made it to the Seattle area yet.

That said… I’m so loving it, and really appreciate all of your reviews!

    • Oh, my other items (in addition to the mascara & brush) are eye shadow, DLS lip gloss, and a sheet mask duo. I love sheet masks and am fine trying the others. That’s the best part of these boxes – I’ve triedseveral things I just *knew* I wouldn’t like but learned I actually love them! Win win.

  39. I did not like the bag at all. It was just blah to me.

I got Pacifica Blush. Every month it is one blush after another!

I got more mascara. I may never have to buy mascara again! At least it is Tarte!

I did get cleansing water, the Smashbox Primer and the Adesse nail polish. Those are fine to me.

Not my favorite Glam Bag but still Ipsy gives me the most bang for my buck.

    • hi, you can opt out of receiving 2 types of items – just email ipsycare and request. I actually opted out of receiving mascara and blush because i’m on overload from those items always in subscription boxes.

      • Thanks, Nicole! I will do that 🙂

  40. Any idea what the actual bag is made of? I have latex/rubber allergies and it looks like it might fit into that category, but it might just be the texture that’s throwing me off. Thanks for any responses!

    • The tag says “Made in China” – no material composition notes. I just emailed Ipsy support to get the specifics. I’ll let you know when I hear back!

    • Just heard back from Ipsy. The bag is made out of vinyl. Hope that helps!

      • LIZ! You are super awesome and sweet for taking the time to find out the answer to my question! So GREATLY APPRECIATED!

  41. I’m not always the biggest Ipsy fan, but I gotta say September knocked it outta the park for me! By far, the classiest makeup bag EVER. That alone was worth the $10.

    I should have ordered 2.

    • Yay! Glad to hear you had a great ipsy month! (And seriously, such a classy bag for a freebie!) 🙂
