I LOVE this powerful image of Cleopatra on this card! She is the inspiration for this month's box.

The other side has a short description and why H+H chose her as their muse. She wasn't only confident in her sexuality, but unapologetically intelligent and self-assured in all facets of her life. Let's all take a page from her book, shall we?

Then there's the info card listing out all of the goods this month and why they relate to the subject.

Cleopatra's Vegan Milk Bath Soak by C&C Apothecary - Value $7.50

I received two pouches of the vegan milk bath soak in a nice little linen bag. It looks like each of these is a single serving, so I'll get two relaxing baths out of it!

This handmade bath soak is made of simple ingredients like coconut milk powder (which I could smell right away), lavender, rosemary, and orange zest. The result is a super creamy, intoxicating bath. The combination of these smells (especially the rosemary) is completely heavenly and it left my skin feeling soft.

Neroli Shimmer Spray by YesOrganic Boutique - Listed Value $10

I'm not a shimmery type of woman, but I am delighted by this pretty packaging! The neroli spray comes in a glass spray bottle with a golden bow around it that matches the shimmer inside.

The info card tells me that Neroli was Cleopatra's favorite scent which is a natural aphrodisiac as well. It's said to ease panic, instill confidence, and dispel feelings of anger. What a magical elixir! The smell doesn't immediately grab me, but the more I sniff it, the more I believe...

Swarovski Crystal Scarab Necklace by Wristicuffs - Listed Value $49.99

Kheper, the scarab beetle hieroglyph, signifies various ideas of existence, manifestation, development, growth, and rebirth. Here, it lives as a single Swarovski crystal bead on a 14K gold foil chain.

Wow- I'm really quite taken by this rainbow crystal beetle! It's not normally the kind of jewelry I wear, but I am mesmerized by it!

The back side is clear so you can see the chain through it as it glides along. I don't see this necklace on the Wristicuffs site, as I think it was designed especially for Heart + Honey.

Buddha Teas Organic Hibiscus Tea - Value $6.99

I'm already into the beautiful packaging of this tea, and am so happy that it comes with 18 tea bags! Cleopatra loved hibiscus tea and thought it enhanced her beauty. It's full of Vitamin C and antioxidants, so maybe that's why.

Good to know that there are no yucky chemicals in the tea bags they use!

Even the individual pouches feel pretty special. This deep red tea has a very fruity floral taste to it that I also find a bit tart but soothing.

Le Boom Dual Vibrator - Value $45.98 (on Amazon)

Well well well, here we are. We've made it to the reason many of us subscribe to this box! This time, Heart + Honey have graced us with a vibrating toy that has THREE ways to stimulate, depending on your comfort.

I am kind of loving the name Le Boom, and once you turn this baby on, you know why. There are three motors inside that control the vibrations in the three different pleasure points. can you guess all of them?

As all toys should be, Le Boom is made of medical grade silicone and is waterproof.

This is the first companion I've received from Heart + Honey that addresses the other zone for men and women alike that is for some reason still a bit taboo. Thank you, ladies!

Here's a charger I've never seen before on a toy- not unlike some laptop chargers. The included cord magnetically connects to the two ports on the side to juice up.

Simple controls allow you to toggle through the 10 different settings available for you to enjoy. The center is on/off, and the up and down arrows go through a mind boggling amount of pulses, areas, and intensities.

That silicone is so soft in my hand, but more importantly in other places. 😉

Of course, there is a booklet describing the best ways to use and all of the settings.

Verdict: Heart + Honey have curated yet another elegant and empowering box, with a retail value of over $120!! I think the inspiration of Cleopatra was perfect, and all of the items were well received by me! I always wonder how they can top the last box, and they always find a way to introduce something new and exciting. This month was a bit more toned down than August, but I like it both ways. Keep 'em coming, H+H! I'm a big fan!

I wish these types of subscription boxes would include some toy cleaners. As someone with sensitive skin, it would be wonderful to try some different samples. I’m currently at a loss as to what to use. Also, including cleaners would be great for continued sexual health!

I’m really interested to see what would be in their couples box. Any chance that will be reviewed soon? ☺️

Shana

thank yall for finally reviewing a sex box!

So close… They used a bust of Nefertiti instead of Cleopatra. Egyptian art and style was heavily influenced by Roman art during the reign of the Ptolemies, so the style of the Second Intermediate Period/New Kingdom would not be found during the reign of Cleopatra.

I do appreciate the thoughtful curation and the card recognizing Cleopatra’s intelligence, though. If companies are citing history in their boxes, I wish it would be more accurate. Sorry to be so nitpicky!

Oh good, I’m not the only one who noticed that.

It seriously chaps my hide when so many people continue to perpetuate the myth of Cleopatra. I’m glad I’m not alone! I admire her so much in light of all the obstacles she faced, especially with her Macedonian lineage (betrayal was every day, particularly from your family – heck, as per Egyptian custom, she married her brothers and then had them killed, lest she ended up being murdered herself!). If you haven’t read it yet, Stacy Shiff’s biography is fantastic!

Alex

Marnie do you know the length on the necklace? Thanks 😊

Regarding this box!! I emailed the company. Here’s what they said

“Just specify in the notes that you would like the Cleopatra box at checkout – we can ship it tomorrow.
BTW – code MSA10 gets you 10% off”

Can I just say that I initially skipped over this box because I thought it was going to be an organic subscription related to honey, beeswax, and all natural products in general. I am so, so glad I was bored and checked out the box review. You did such a lovely job and have addressed an adult topic in a tasteful manner. I am now debating on buying the box for this month if they have one left. This is a great box! I also want to say thank you for reviewing a subscription that covers ‘other’ lifestyle needs. It is fun to talk about something other than scarves and face masks in our fall lifestyle boxes 😂😉. Also, I am very amused to point out that there does not seem to be a negative comment in this thread. I guess we have found that one repeat subscription box item that no woman is going to be angry over….. a vibrator 😂🤣😂🙌🏻

I am on my 3rd Heart + Honey box and I love it (Thanks Marne)! The Cleopatra box may be the best one yet, I love all the items! My husband, who generally ignores my subscription boxes, even gets excited when Heart + Honey arrives ; )

Ragan, would you mind telling me what I would need to string that beetle on if I order one from Fire Mountain? I do love the look. Thanks!! The jewelry you make is beautiful so I figured you would be best person to ask.

Reply ButtonReply

Ragan

I’m not sure how big the hole is in the beetle beads. Looking elsewhere online, it appears to be 1.5 mm. So one of the gossamer chains from Fire Mountain with a thickness of probably no greater than 1.2 mm (and maybe go with 1 mm so the scarab will move freely) *should* work. They sell some finished chains with clasps. The only thing is, you might have to remove one end of the clasp to string the scarab bead over (could probably just use some chain nose or roundnose pliers for this) and then replace it.

You’d get your choice of scarab color and chain color/style/length (silvertone or goldtone anyway). You’d have to pay shipping (Fire Mountain always charges shipping) but you’d still get out for under $20, I’d estimate.

(You can just search “scarab” and “gossamer chain” on the Fire Mountain site to find these items.)

Thanks so much for the info Reagan! You are very sweet to help. I will be ordering this tomorrow.

Abbie

This is my favorite Heart & Honey box so far! Love the Cleopatra theme.

Ragan

I need to start making and selling necklaces like that. What a markup! You can buy those Swarovski scarabs from Fire Mountain for $1.59 each.

That being said, I think you always handle these reviews in a tasteful manner so good job with that.

Cathy

Yesss! I am so glad someone else pointed that out. After reading this review, I went right to Fire Mountain to see if they had those beads. Sure enough…

Reply ButtonReply

Ragan

I keep a stack of Fire Mountain catalogs on my kitchen table and look at them during dinner for ideas. I not only know they carry those beads, but the names of most of their employees modeling the jewelry. (I need a life…)

Marne Orenich

Whoa, oh my! I totally didn’t realize. Good looking out, Ragan!
