Fabletics is a monthly fitness apparel subscription co-founded by Kate Hudson. Recently, Fabletics introduced a plus size line of their fashionable workout gear! You can shop their line in two different ways—either you can shop through their regular store or sign up as a VIP member. The VIP Membership works like this:

  • Take the Fabletics quiz, which will let the company know your size, style, and fitness needs.
  • Each month, Fabletics will curate looks that match your preferences. According to the website, outfits start at $19.00 for new members. (I'm not sure if "new members" refers to just your first order, though.)
  • Shop those looks at 40-50% off what you'd get just paying retail, or skip the month. You have to make your decision by the 5th of the month. If do neither, the $49.95 monthly membership fee will be saved to your account as a credit, which you can put towards other outfits later.
  • As you shop, you'll also earn points that can be applied to accessories and other cool fitness essentials.

Unlike a lot of other subscription boxes, you are not automatically sent a package each month. You have to go into your account and either decide to add items to your card or skip it. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time, though you do have to call into Fabletics customer service to do it.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: Fabletics VIP Membership

The Cost: $49.95 a month. This price goes towards the cost of the outfits curated for you. The cost of outfits varies, but you'll only be charged for what you choose to actually buy. If you want, you can choose to skip the month, and you won't be charged. If you don't spend your $49.95 nor choose to skip, Fabletics will charge you the $49.95 and just save it as store credit for you to use later.

LIMITED TIME DEAL: new VIP members can use this link to get your two pairs of leggings for $24!

The Products: High-quality, on-trend athletic clothing curated to fit your size, style, and needs. Think leggings, tops, shorts, and outerwear for yoga, running, and all kinds of other workouts. Fabletics is targeted towards women, primarily, but they do offer workout clothes for men, too!

For whatever reason, this month didn’t include an invoice like the previous month’s order.

Helena Tank in Black, Size 3x - Retail $39.95; VIP Member Cost $24.95

Savina Leggings in Black, Size 3x - Retail $79.95; VIP Member Cost $49.95

This month, I opted to get mix and match pieces rather than a preconceived set. I wanted to get an all-black set this time for the versatility since I could wear the pieces separately and even pair with my workout ensemble from last month’s review.

I decided for this month’s selection that I wanted a longer top than the sports bra I selected last month. When I saw the flattering sweetheart neckline detail, I was hook, line, and sinker for this top. The length is a bit long, but ideal for working out since I won’t have to be concerned about it rolling up. The fabric has fantastic stretch as well. You won’t have to worry about tugging down on this top at the gym. The mesh is a really sporty and edgy detail that nicely complements the romantic sweetheart neckline. This top is cute enough that I would even wear it outside of the gym on errands.

Savina Leggings in Black, Size 3x - Retail $79.95; VIP Member Cost $49.95

I was eyeing up mesh detailed leggings at first, but when I saw this pair I had to have them! Why do you ask? They remind me of something Peg Bundy would wear to the gym if she was able to be pried from her day of scarfing up bon bons on her couch for a cardio session. I would wear these to the gym and probably out and about--they are that adorable. The material is thick, stretchy, and very flattering in how it hugs your body. The waist is high too, which I prefer for my workout gear and streetwear alike. Your back end will be well hidden in these leggings for sure; no constant pulling up will be necessary. These leggings are ace!

Verdict: I am loving Fabletics! I saved $45 with my VIP membership for these two pieces--- which is pretty fantastic! The cost is higher than what you may pay at Target or Marshall's, but the quality and price is comparable to competitors like Lane Bryant’s Livi line. I like the selections thus far and that they have a lot of similar styles in plus and straight sizes, but I am eager to see it expand even further. The plus size line is fairly new and I hope to eventually see ALL items across the board in plus size options.

Have you tried Fabletics? What do you think?

How tall are you? I wear a 3x and I’m curious because I think I could use that as a guide to how things will hang on me. I love seeing real pictures of real women modeling plus size clothing. I love the leggings.

I’ve been subscribing for a few months and am generally happy with the items. The clothing is exceptional quality, much nicer than you would find outside boutique sportswear offerings. I’ve had a few glitches with sizing, just working to find whether I need the biggest standard size or the smallest plus-size. I’ve returned a few things (from Australia) and there have been no glitches – there is no requirement to pay postage on returns and they are processed fairly promptly. They do not do exchanges for Australian customers, but the refunds to my credit card were made with no fuss and usually within a week or so of me sending the return.

Thank you, Kathryn! That is all really good to know regarding their return process in Australia. I am glad they were prompt with you!

You are looking super cute as always!

I like the pieces you chose. The black color gives them some versatility but the style gives them some edge. Nice!

I am still having a sort of love/hate relationship with Fabletics plus size offering. Their preview got me excited because there were two leggings I was swooning over an one I liked a lot but is a little outside of my wheelhouse. When I clicked on the link for my selections they two I love where up on there and I did a little happy dance until I went to select the pieces. The one I loved the most was being offered with a bra and a shirt – neither of which came in plus sizing. The other came with a top – not available in a plus size. The third pair I loved (but again a little outside my usual look) id come in a plus size bra and legging.

I was frustrated. Part of me wanted to check and see how many of these supposed plus options were shown with tops that did not come with an actual plus size top – but I didn’t have the time to do that and I really didn’t want to fuel any negative energy.

I ended up getting the third option and because I was obsessed I bought the leggings I love the most seperately. It stings that if the options were available in plus sizes for $20 more I could have had a sports bra an top but since it wasn’t available that wasn’t an option for me. On deeper reflection I think if the outfit I wanted the most was available I wouldn’t have purchased the third choice outfit. That’s a personal fail.

I think I am going to have to stick to my guns an figure out my favorite and if Fabletics doesn’t offer it in plus sizing then not send my money Fabletics way. Plus size women like workout gear too! I don’t understand why, if they are going to offer these new prints to plus size customers, they don’t create outfits that contain plus size options too instead of what feels like a gotcha game.

Thank you, Loba!

That is so frustrating! That is my one issue with Fabletics (overall I love them), like so many retailers, is that they don’t have the plus size options in every design the straight sizes have. I love plus exclusives, but I love even more inclusitvity and variety. Hopefully Fabletics will realize their plus size customers are just as key as their smaller ones.

I have been thinking about trying for awhile but am curious if they run true to size. The legs look a little loose on you for exercise “compression” leggings. Would you say that that is a true to fit for the size on you? Do you think that they run a little loose/a little tight? Long/Short/Average? When I am exercising I do not want chafing so I prefer them to be snug, not loose. Thank you :o)

They have so many varieties. If you check out my last Fabletics review ( https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2017/08/fabletics-vip-membership-plus-size-review-bogo-offer-august-2017.html if you wanna check it out), I opted for a capri through them. Those were very form fitting on my entire body. That pair and this one were both 3x. Maybe that will help you more in making a selection?

Under each item is a section that tells you whether other customers found that item fit true to size, half a size too large or small or a full size too large or small. It’s under the reviews section.
