Dia and Co September 2017 Women's Plus Clothing Subscription Box

Dia & Co
2.5 overall rating
75 Ratings | 24 Reviews

Dia & Co. is a monthly plus size clothing subscription box that is personally curated for you by a Dia stylist. Upon enrolling with Dia, I filled out an extensive survey asking me about my clothing size/weight/height, price range, and also my style likes and dislikes. Every month my stylist selects five pieces that could be clothes or accessories to try out. If I like them, I have the option of buying them. There is a $20 per month service fee, but the fee can be applied to any purchases I opt to make. A 20% discount is applied if I choose to keep all five pieces too!

The items in my box are chosen personally for me dependent and reflective of my style and price preference, so the package you receive from Dia & Co. may be entirely different than mine!

The perpetually snazzy Dia & Co. envelope that I look forward to every month!

Dia and Co September 2017 Women's Plus Clothing Subscription Box

Enclosed in the stylish envelope is a lovely note from my stylist, Natalie, telling me why she selected the pieces she did for me and suggestions on how to style them.

The other form is an invoice that has a detailed list of the brand, name, color, size, and price of each item she selected for me along with the grand total after the styling fee and 25% off (if I opt to keep all five items) is applied. The savings would be $94.25 if I did decide to keep them all. You can’t beat that price. The amount I save is like getting  the necklace and cold shoulder shirt for free!

Martina dress by Junarose, size 2x — Cost to Keep $89

My stylist, Natalie, said in her note to me that she looked high and low for this dress because she knew that I love Peter Pan collars; her struggle was not in vain--- I ADORE THIS DRESS! I got some major Audrey Horne from Twin Peaks vibes when I first pulled this out of the box, so I had to pair it with my saddle shoes. OBVIOUSLY! I am ready to go chase after Agent Dale Cooper at the Double R in this get up! The dress is made from a soft cotton stretchy fabric. It is perfect for early fall because it is not too light or thick of a material. I love how it pairs with my staple faux leather jacket as well. This will look great with tights or knee socks in cooler weather. I can’t resist the charms of this dress; this one is going in the keep pile.

Isabella Cold Shoulder tee by Mari Skye, size 3x — Cost to Keep $42

I hate to see summer leave, but the one positive was that I kept thinking cold shoulders would go along with the change of seasons. I seem to have been mistaken. I really like the sea foam/teal shade of this top, but I just have felt bombarded with this cold shoulder trend all summer. It feels like that scene in Mean Girls where Tina Fey says, “Raise your hand if you have been victimized by Regina George.” Allow me a moment to be melodramatic and dub cold shoulder tops my Regina George, okay? However, my feelings towards this top improved vastly once I paired it with all my gold accessories; it really made the top’s color POP! Go figure! The light cotton fabric is soft and flowy which is perfect for hot end of summer days. Cold shoulder top, you can sit with us… for now.

Silver Jessie Necklace — Cost to Keep $29

This silver necklace is not necessarily my style, but it is a great staple piece. The metal material is not cheap and is well made. It would look great with a blazer and button-down shirt for a business meeting or with a flirty top or dress for a casual date. The $29 price tag is a bit steep for costume jewelry, but the versatility of the necklace is what makes it a great value.

Sammy Bow Tied Pullover Blouse by Love and Legend, size 22 — Cost to Keep $68

How flirty is this top? I love the red lipstick print, slightly see-through fabric, and the pussybow detail. The sleeves are somewhat puffy, which lends to how retro and modern this top is simultaneously. The fabric isn’t terribly stretchy, but the cut is ample in size and length; it looks shorter due to me tucking it into my pants. I accessorized this top with my Bad Sandy from Grease heels from Torrid, cat eye glasses from Pinup in a Pack (review coming soon!), and a flashy cocktail ring from Jewelry Subscription for some extra sass. This top will pair great with tight pants or a vampy body-hugging pencil skirt and chic black ankle booties. This is one of my favorite pieces that my stylist, Natalie, chose for me; I am going to have to summon a lot of strength to put this one in my return pile.

Nicky Ankle Pant by Michel Studio, size 24 — Cost to Keep $69

My stylist, Natalie, definitely knew what she was doing by sending these pants! The slim cut and style are so timeless. They have incredible stretch and hug the body well.  They remind me of the cigarette pants Audrey Hepburn would often wear. These pants can be worn at the office during the day or in the evening for a night cap with friends. The only negative to me is they seemed a bit higher in the front than the back, but this is a problem I have often with my robust posterior and clothing.

Verdict: Again, my stylist, Natalie, was very attentive in what she selected for me. My least favorite items were the necklace and cold shoulder top, but I even liked those as well! She knocked it out of the park with the lipstick print blouse, Peter Pan collar dress, and the gorgeous slim cut dress pants. Dia & Co. is a subscription box I suggest to so many because their stylists really are committed to finding pieces that are personalized and fit your style while providing you pieces you may have never thought to try. For $20 you get an incredibly tailored and customized box of clothing and accessories sent to you without having to leave your house. The $20 cost also includes the shipping and return of the items too; just think of the money you save on gas with such a convenient service! I love Dia & Co!

Where can I find that gold bag w/ the triangle handle? So cute!

How does this work? Is it only $20 or do they use your card to buy things? And can you keep everything?

Susie Lichty

$20 is the initial cost. Then the clothes cost a bunch more.

I just got my first box…$20 is charged initially, but you will get that $20 off of an item you decide to keep. Then you get the box, and you decide what you want and don’t. Return shipping is included. If you keep nothing, you lose $20. I received a top I love–but it is a simple cotton/polyester blend floral top, not worth the $68 price tag! I received a polyester mock wrap top in a teal and black print. It fits well, but I don’t care for the dark color or the high price of $58. I also received a purple tshirt with 3/4 length sleeves and a twisted detail at the v neck-$44! Jeans for $69 which fit well, but I can get jeans similar fit for $19 at target, and Dia’s were $69!Finally, I got a wine colored polyester fit and flare dress. Hate the color. The fabric is thick and heavy. It fits amazing and is so flattering, but again–$65. I felt all of the clothes were double the retail price.

Hi Susie,

I subscribed last year; at the time, Dia & Co price-matched (not sure if they still do). I just found the items online (make sure they match exactly–color, size, etc.), took screen shots and emailed them. They made the adjustments prior to charging my card. I hope this helps.

I think the cold shoulder thing is getting old too, especially when it comes to cold shoulder sweaters!!! When it’s cold enough for a sweater, it’s too cold for cold shoulders! On the other hand, I have some solid colored v-neck cold shoulder tops which drape really well, and look like nice shell tops under draped cardigans. I was so happy to find a work appropriate, Fall appropriate way to still use my cold shoulder tops.

Nicole Rieder

Mary Rang,

That is awesome you were able to wear them with cardigans to bring in New season. I always seek versatile pieces that can be worn all year myself.

Loba

If you can find a way to keep that lipstick top…keep it!!! You look smokin’ hot in that top!

That peter pan collar dress? Love! It looks really good on you. I would keep that one too.

The turquoise top looks good too; but, I feel like the color paired with the cold should screams Spring/Summer. This has absolutely nothing to do with my personal legitimate hatred of cold shoulder trend (I’m super short and must have short arms and smaller shoulder width so they rarely fall on me correctly). Since I love them on others – just not myself.

The pants look good too I guess I’m just so smitten with the dress and the top that I am rooting for you to keep those two.

Nicole Rieder

Thank you so much, Loba!

You would think I would like cold shoulder tops since I have pretty broad shoulders. I didn’t mind the trend, but it just was EVERYWHERE! I am ok with no more cold shoulder tops. hahaha.

I loved the top, but I didn’t keep it. That dress was a must. The pants were cute too and pained me return tbh.

Thanks again, Loba!

“Robust Posterior” now that I need to use in the future!

Great review, you make everything look so good, I could never pull off some of those things but you do it so well!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Awe, Carey, I am sense you would look great in a lot of these pieces. Just strut!

And I encourage you adding “robust posterior” to your lexicon! Run with it! :o)

Thanks again for checking out my reviews! It means a lot!

Elle Em

I swear I am the only person in Subscription Box Land who *hasn’t* been bombarded with the cold shoulder trend. I get Trunk Club and Stitch Fix and haven’t received any cold shoulder tops, even after I requested some for summer.

It was like, “Cold shoulder top for you… cold shoulder top for you… and none for Elle Em – bye!”

Anyyyway… that dress is perfection on you. I’m glad you kept it. 🙂

Nicole Rieder

Elle Em,

I am blown away by that since I got so many. It is like they gave me the ones you wanted! hahaha.

But thank you! And thanks for always checking out my reviews!

Evrything in this box looked good on you. Maybe not the necklace. It looked find on you, but wasn’t that great.

Nicole Rieder

Thank you, KC. Yeah, the necklace was not my favorite, but I will give it props on its versatility.

Awesome review. Love the Peter Pan collar….so cute. I know you are over the cold shoulder trend, but that top is REALLY flattering on you…I think you should rethink returning it!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you so much, Kate! The top was cute, but not anything I really wanted to keep. But that dress was a must! Thanks again!

Elise

I sooo don’t get the hate people seem to have for the cold shoulder trend. But I always love a good mean girls reference. I am OBSESSED with that red lipstick print shirt, I need that in my life!!!!!! You should sooooo keep that, you did such an amazing job styling it.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you so much, Elise! I loved that lipstick print top and regret returning it.

I just feel like one cold shoulder is ok, but too much of a good thing can be bad!

I went to Curvy Con a few weeks ago and the guy that played Damien was at the after party! I squealed, “YOU GO, GLENN COCO!” I sense he hears that line every day of his dang life. HAHA. He seems like a really nice guy and is doing so much for Men’s Plus Size fashion.

Love love your reviews, girl! Obscure movie quotes -which one was Regina George? – and the way you accessorize to rock the clothes makes you my fav reviewer. Strike a pose!

Awe, thank you, Karol! I am so glad you are enjoying my reviews! I gotta bust out the pop culture references. It is second nature! haha. Thanks again!

I LOVE your saddle shoes!! I love the cold shoulder top, that’s a gorgeous color on you. And the last outfit is hands down my favorite especially with the leather jacket. Another great box, my Dia & Co boxes were always terrible, mostly black clothes when I wanted brights and patterns.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

You can’t go wrong with saddle shoes as far as am concerned. These ones are from Payless. Heck of a deal. I agree with you about the cold shoulder and the third outfit.

That is shame you had that experience with Dia and Co! I constantly give feedback to my stylist and she takes it and runs with it.

Ragan

Everything in this box looked great on you. I wish I could have that kind of luck with styling subscriptions.

Awe thanks, Ragan! The key is to communicate with your stylist. Pinterest boards are your friend with these subscription boxes too!

OMIGod, I looked at you in that dress and said, oh please, please keep it…… you look simply adorable/darling in that outfit…… LOVE!!! …. I’m with you on can’t we FINALLY move away from the cold shoulder look ….. 🙁 …… also think you ROCK the red top with slim black pants too!!!!! 🙂

Nicole Rieder

Thank you, Judy! I really couldn’t deny myself of that dress. I am already regretting sending that lip print top back! haha
